Chapter 182 - Liberators

Storm, Leyocan, Vulgar and the boy was currently hidden at the edge of the forest behind the fort where the Order was currently based.

Another hour had passed since his experience in the forest clearing and the sun had long since decended below the horizon.

The darkness helped to conceal them all as they planned the best way to approach the fortress.

Storm had panicked at first after what had happened in the clearing, fearing that he may have lost the signature lightning abilities he had been named after.

But much to his relief, he not only retained his lightning abilities and breath, he also gained the signature flame abilities of other dragons.

The fire breath was completely seperate from his lightning breath and they both had their own fuel source.

Even better, he was able to release both at the same time and they combined into particularly powerful explosive blasts similar to the ones his uncle's chest cannon was able to produce.

After everyone checked him over for any potential side effects, he gave them the all clear to proceed. But he intended to seek out Razor and ask her to do a proper checkup and assessment at the earliest opportunity.

Right now, they had a fort to overtake.

The fort had clearly been abandoned for a significant amount of time and was in a terrible state of disrepair.

The walls had collapsed at certain places and the remaining walls were crumbling.

To seal off these breaches, it's occupants had constructed wooden barricades to cover up these areas.

A large tower occupied the center of the fort, it's entire top was one massive brazier that was currently lit and illuminated a large area around the fort.

Storm was able to make out several watchman patrolling the walls far above.

They did a quick headcount and estimated that their numbers were between 50-100 Order members.

"That's a lot for just us 3 to take on at once!" Exclaimed Leyocan.

Vulgar cleared his throat and glared at him.

"Apologies!! The 'four' of us." Responded Leyocan.

"Any ideas?" Asked Storm.

"I could sneak up the walls? Kill a few guards before we attack?" Suggested Leyocan.

Before they could debate it further, the boy rolled his eyes.

"Booooring!!! Let's just go already!!"

Before Storm could stop him, the boy summoned his fiery disk and threw it right at the barricade in front of them.

When the disk touched the barricade, a large explosion threw the debris into the air and illuminated the night sky.

Several screams of alarm came from inside the fort.

"Try and keep up!!" Exclaimed the boy excitedly and he dashed into the gap before anyone could stop him.

"Damn it!! That kid is going to get us all killed!!" Exclaimed Storm.

"Guess we have no choice now!" Exclaimed Leyocan.

Storm took flight while Leyocan dashed through the gap.

As Storm took to the air he saw a large group of archers getting together on the walls.

Before they could fire at him, Storm used his newfound ability to combine his two breath weapons and he fired a ball of supercharged energy at the center of the gathering.

As it struck the ground, it exploded with force and sent everyone screaming as they fell off the wall.

Storm roared in victory and surveyed the battlefield, looking for his next target.

Leyocan was jumping from shadow to shadow, taking down one soldier, only to jump to another a moment later in the blink of an eye.

Vulgar meanwhile was using his entire body as a projectile, diving through an enemy, then moving on to the next.

He twisted around any blows directly at him as fast as a snake.

The boy on the other hand was dueling with a brutish knight in black plate armor that Storm suspected was the commander of the Order garrison.

Despite their differences in hight, size and age, the boy was clearly winning by a landslide.

In the distance, Storm saw a large group of horsemen rushing towards the fort.

Leyocan and the others seemed to have everything under control, but Storm feared that if the horsemen joined the fight, they might be overwhelmed.

With a hard flap of his wings, he accelerated towards the horsemen.

He blasted them from above with his breath attacks to thin their ranks, but they ignored him and continued their headlong charge.

Desperate, he landed on the ground in front of them and roared out a challenge.

Several of the horses panicked and threw their riders before rushing away.

He rose in his hind legs as a knight lowered a black lance and spurred hes horse onward.

A quick lightning discharge took him down before he even got in range to use his weapon.

Storm lost track of how many men he killed, focusing only on the opponent in front of him.

Despite his skill, he received injuries.

His gums and the inside of his mouth hurt from biting down on plate armor , a bleading wound in his left shoulder from where a lance had pierced his scales.

The knight actually intended to pierce Storm's heart, but he saw the blow coming and twisted around it.

He wasn't able to dodge it completely however and he received a nasty wound on the shoulder.

After that, Storm decided to shift into his humanoid dragon form in order to make himself a smaller target.

After an unknown amount of time, his fight was finally over and all the horsemen were dead.

With his battle rage subsiding, he suddenly thought of his companions and rushed back to the fort.

All the Order soldiers were already dead.

Most of his companions were unharmed, but tired.

Leyocan had received a cut in his lower belly that was already bandaged up.

A woman was currently checking to ensure the bandages would hold.

At first Storm mistook her for an elf due to her pointed ears. Though she had a bigger build, and her ear points wasn't as prominent as an elf.

When she saw Storm, she ignored Leyocan and rushed to Storm's side.

"You're hurt!!" Exclaimed the woman.

"It's nothing, just a minor wound." Responded Storm.

"I'll be the judge of that!!" Retorted the woman
