"This is what has been troubling you?" Asked Aurora.
Storm nodded his head.
"I fail to see why? So we and our family are going to become people of note? How is that a bad thing?" Asked Aurora.
"You're telling me that our changed appearances doesn't bother you?" Asked Storm.
"I will admit, the two heads thing is a bit suprising, but I'll still love you no matter what you look like. Do you consider my changed appearance repulsive?" Asked Aurora.
"You would never be repulsive to me." Stated Storm.
Aurora smiled.
"Did our future versions seem sad, in pain or like they struggled in any way?"
"No... they seemed 'content '." Stated Storm
"Then everything will work out fine. So why do you worry?" Asked Aurora.
"Because I don't want the world's concerns on my shoulders!! I just want to spend my days with my family!! And yet, more and more people come lay their concerns at my feet every day.
And that vision shows that it will only increase." Stated Storm.
"And yet, your future self made peace with it." Added Aurora.
"Not like he has much choice in the matter." Grumbled Storm.
"We rarely get to decide how our future ends, we just have to go with the flow." Stated Aurora.
Storm gave no reply.
After a moment's silence
Aurora spoke up again.
"8 children? " Asked Aurora.
"According to the prophecy, yes." Stated Storm.
"Guess we should consider expanding our dwelling again. " Joked Aurora.
"Despite his mood, Storm chuckled.
"I suppose we should." Replied Storm.
Silence fell on their discussion again.
"Storm...
Just promise me one thing..." said Aurora.
"Anything!!" Stated Storm without hesitation.
"If you ever have visions like this again!! No matter how dire!! You will tell me immediately!!
You shouldn't have to carry this burden alone!!" Stated Aurora.
"You have my word." Storm responded.
"..."
" Aurora..? Do you think you can organize the day off for yourself and Orian tomorrow?" Asked Storm.
"Shouldn't be a problem. But may I ask why?" Enquired Aurora.
"I'd like to take Orian out to our ancestral hatching grounds and Twin Rivers. Just the 3 of us. I'd like to do so while you are still well enough to travel. "
Aurora nodded.
"I'm sure Orian will love it! But if I may ask.
What prompted this idea?" Asked Aurora.
"I don't know. I guess I want to show Orian what I'm fighting for! And that the world is bigger than just this city." Explained Storm.
Something caught Storm's eye.
He saw several fey gathered around a small meadow of flowers.
Kalipso was there to, overseeing everything.
They were busy making what appeared to be decorations of some kind, no doubt for another one of the Fay's numerous celebrations and festivals.
Kalipso inspected each piece herself with a critical eye and if the work didn't reach her standards, she was quick to tell that Fay to start over.
Fay and parties tended to go hand in hand.
They were a highly social race that loved any opportunity to hold a celebration.
But it was rare to see then go through this kind of trouble for one. Meaning that whatever this particular event was celebrating, must be of great importance to the Fay.
Aurora followed Storm's gaze and watched the activity with interest.
"Go on!! I can see that your curiosity won't be sated until you go find out what is going on!
I'll tell Orian about our plans for tomorrow. " encouraged Aurora.
Storm got to his feet and walked over towards Kalipso, while Aurora called Orian over.
The moment Kalipso saw Storm, she flew over to him.
"Ahh... Storm...!! I didn't know you were planning to come and do an inspection of our work!!" Exclaimed Kalipso.
"I'm not. I just happened to be in the area and was curious what you were doing." Asked Storm.
He gestured behind him to prove his point.
Aurora was stretched out underneath the shade of a large copse of trees while Orian was sitting up straight and looking at his mother as she spoke to him.
"Just starting on the decorations and preparations for the 'Spring Equinox'
This is shaping up to be the biggest, most exciting one yet!!" Exclaimed Kalipso excitedly.
Storm looked at her with a dumbfounded look, waiting for her to elaborate.
The moment she noticed, Kalipso received a crestfallen expression.
"You've forgotten about it, didn't you!!?" Cried Kalipso.
"N-no.. just need a brief reminder to jog my memory, that's all!" Exclaimed Storm.
"The Spring Equinox marks the ending of winter and the coming of spring ? The time when new nature spirits and Fay spring into being?
I discussed the plans with you weeks ago?
It's a big part of fairy culture and a big event on our calendar?" Stated Kalipso.
Storm suddenly recalled what she was talking about. The truth was that he had forgotten about the event due to everything going on.
Fay did not procreate like normal races unless the partner was a non-Fay creature.
As they were a highly magical race that was closely tied to other nature spirits.
New Fay sprung into being when nature magic was at it's strongest. Usually around the shifting of the seasons.
The season they are born in determining what kind of powers that Fay would posess.
Fey born during winter would have control over frost and ice, Summer Fay would control fire.
Autumn Fay had powers over wind and decay, while Spring Fay controlled nature and plants.
Roughly 80% of the entire Fay race were created during spring, while the other Fay were much rarer, with winter Fay being the rarest.
To welcome their new kin into the world, the race held a celebration at every turning of the seasons, with the Spring Equinox being the largest one. Kitsune, Elves and Druids usually hosted their own seperate events to mark the occasion.
Due to the isolated nature of Fay settlements, very few non Fairy races got to see the event.
But as all races that hosted the event were present, they all decided to pool their resources and create one huge celebration.
For the first time in history, the Fay Spring Equinox, the Kitsune Spring blossom celebration, The Elven Revival event and the Druidic Nature's Renewal ritual was being held together.
Kalipso had sent out invitations to Elven and Fay settlements for months, with several confirming that they will be in attendance.
Meanwhile, The Grans contacted many of their fellow hags around the continent and several had replied saying they would bring their druidic children with them.
It was quickly shaping up to be the biggest event of the year, with several of the city's business owners counting on an massive influx of new customers.
