Chapter 220 - Battle's End

The Slayer stepped back into a narrow alley as the brothers herded him, this was a clever move that meant they were forced to go at him one at a time.

The space was limited to such an extent that they would pose a danger to each other if they all tried to charge him at once.

This also meant it was impossible to flank the Slayer, they would be forced to fight him from the front where his defenses were most concentrated.

Chrome made the opening move and fired several scales at his opponent, The Slayer either side stepped or deflected each projectile but soon realized the attack was only meant as a distraction.

Chrome rushed at him, and his opponent raised his shield in preparation for what he expected to be a hammer strike.

The hammer in Chrome's hand shimmered as it disappeared and joined the other ethereal weapons floating behind his back as a silver spear took it's place.

The sudden change in weapon caught the Slayer by suprise, as Chrome struck at his lower belly, the Slayer realized that he wouldn't be able to readjust his shield in time.

So he swung his own spear and deflected Chrome's strike to his left. Chrome's weapon missed it's mark and the spear embedded itself in the wall behind his opponent's back.

Instead of trying to pull out the spear, he released it and switched to his one handed battleaxe instead.

He continued to switch weapons while dueling with his opponent in the hopes of throwing off his rhythm and cause him to make a mistake.

But no matter how inventive his strikes, The Slayer had an counter for it. Stabbing outwards, the Slayer attempted to pierce Chrome through the chest but he sidestepped the strike before locking the weapon in place with his right arm.

Summoning a short sword in his left hand, Chrome tried to take advantage of his opponent's opening, but the strike was blocked by his shield.

Chrome had underestimated the spear's sharpness however and with a strong tug, the Slayer broke his hold and cut his opponent under his arm and his side, drawing blood in the process.

Before he could take advantage of Chrome's injuries, he flexed his muscles and released every single scale all at once, knocking The Slayer back and seperating the 2.

The walls around them was pierced all over, and the Slayer's shield was pierced with several barbs.

The Slayer's had managed to adjust his shield position at the last moment and most of the projectiles were deflected from his body, but a single scale had managed to find his mark and was currently embedded in The Slayer's left leg.

With a angry snarl, the Slayer yanked the scale free of his leg and dropped it to the ground.

Chrome was in a poor state however, he was standing completely naked without any scales currently on his body.

They were slowly beginning to regrow, but based on how heavily he was breathing and the slow growth compared to before showed that his body's reserves were running on fumes right now.

Orian stepped forward and placed a hand on his brother's shoulder. Chrome hesitated for a moment, before stepping back as Orian took his place on the field of battle.

Storm watched helplessly as his sons fought on his behalf, his combined light and dark attacks had drained his energy reserves.

He wasn't idle however, using his last reserves, he directed his shadow to climb the building beside the alley while the Slayer was distracted and was currently making his way to his back.

Orian spun his weapon by his side before suddenly dissappearing, only to reappear by The Slayer's side a moment later.

He stabbed with his two handed sword but The Slayer casually danced around the blow.

Before countering with his own.

Orian wasn't as skilled at swordplay as his brother, but he made up for it with other ways.

His dazzling scales made looking at him for extended periods of time extremely difficult and he often blinded opponents with their radiance.

That combined with his light infused rapid speed and reflexes made him a highly skilled duelist against single opponents.

Orian was also a highly skilled mage and often combined magical attacks with his swordsmanship to make up for his lack of experience.

Storm's shadow was quickly moving into the proper position while Orian was dueling and it was almost time to spring his ambush.

As the Slayer stabbed outward with his spear, Orian deflected it to the ground with his sword before releasing a close range breath attack that knocked him back against the wall.

Spinning his sword, he put his entire shoulder's weight behind his sword and dashed forward with the intention of impaling The Slayer and hopefully end the fight.

His strike punched right through the human's shield, but by some miracle, missed his opponent and struck the wall beside his head.

Before the Slayer could take advantage , Storm's shadow lept from the roof behind the him.

Two blades made of shadow appeared in his hands and he drove them deep into his nemesis's back.

The armor cracked from the blow and a wave of bright light knocked everyone back and destroyed the buildings surrounding them.

Storm looked up and saw the Slayer standing in the center of an open space, gold energy flowed along his body and healed every wound back to how he had been before the battle.

His armor was cracking and falling apart like an egg shell, revealing his opponent's under armor . A simple padded green vest without sleeves to keep the armor from chaving.

His shield was quickly doing the same as whatever magic that kept it together before began to fail.

"Damn it! How much punishment can this man take!!?" Thought Storm in dispair.

His opponent was staring at him with hateful eyes.

"Damn you, Dragon!! Do you have any idea how much this suit cost to make!!? I'll make you bleed for this!!" Yelled the Slayer.

He took a step forward as the dragons rose to their feet when he suddenly paused and received a blank look that Storm recognized all to well.

Someone was communicating with him telepathically!

Trying to take advantage of his momentary lapse in concentration, they rushed forward but one of the Order's aircraft flew past and blasted the ground in front of them.

Knocking them back, to the ground. Storm looked up dazed as a line extended from the hovering aircraft.

The Slayer grabbed the line and was pulled into the air by the departing machine.

As Storm saw his son's preparing to take off in pursuit, Storm waved them back.

"No!! We're in no condition to take him on again!! Especially if the rest of the Order aids him!! Let them go!!" Exclaimed Storm.

His sons didn't seem pleased that their opponent was escaping, but they obeyed their father's command and did not pursue.
