"Charge!"
The Noxian army's charge continued. Even though their numbers kept dwindling, their total force was enormous to begin with.
They forced their way forward under the relentless bombardment.
The distance between the two sides grew closer and closer.
"Guns out!"
Seeing the distance shrink, Luke gave the order.
The second prepared measure began its fierce assault.
In the formation, the soldiers of the rifle company had long been waiting in readiness. The moment they heard the order, they stepped forward in perfect order.
"Fire!"
Luke gave another command.
"Rat-tat-tat-tat!"
In an instant, flickering muzzle flashes and flying bullets poured toward the charging Noxian army.
When the rain of bullets fell from the sky, even Kled had no choice but to ride Skaarl through constant turns, dodging left and right.
"Skaarl, run faster!"
He shouted. Some bullets even grazed past his fur.
Skaarl's courage was already on the verge of shattering, but it was precisely this desperate will to survive that made her unleash unimaginable speed at such a critical moment.
The other soldiers, however, were not so lucky.
Although bullets were not as powerful as cannon shells, their numbers were far greater. Under the combined firepower of both, Luke even felt as though he had been thrown back into modern warfare.
At this moment, the enemy's charge was practically using lives to pile up every step of the advance.
At this moment, Demir finally understood what Nashat had experienced that day.
"So this was the kind of ambush."
Unfortunately, he was caught by an explosion. Although he was only hit by the edge of it, he was still blasted into the air. Amid the buzzing in his ears, he learned what despair meant.
They had not even touched Demacia's edge yet, and at least ten thousand of them had already died.
And that number was still rising at a terrifying speed.
"We will release a barrier together. While this barrier is up, do not hesitate. Charge forward!"
At that moment, sound returned to his ears.
Demir heard Omos shouting. Immediately after, a layer of magical barrier covered the area around him.
He did not hesitate. He gripped his weapon and continued charging forward.
The critical moment had arrived.
The magic academy had sent a company of mages this time, and together with the mages Groft already had, their total number exceeded one thousand.
Their role was to act at this exact moment.
A huge magical barrier covered the Noxian army from above, temporarily helping them resist Demacia's offensive. Taking advantage of this time, they kept charging forward, and the distance between both sides rapidly shortened.
"Training really does make a difference."
Luke looked at the enormous barrier and knew this was an effect that could only be achieved through repeated coordination and practice.
Mages without tacit understanding would only make the barrier fail to form, or cause it to become unstable.
Demacia's magic academy was still being prepared, so cooperation of this level was temporarily beyond them.
"Mage corps, shatter the barrier!"
Luke gave the order.
The mages who had followed the army on this campaign immediately stood at the front of the formation. There were not many of them, only a little over four hundred.
Lux stood in a conspicuous position among them. She held a staff about one meter long. The front end of the staff used a special magic-conducting metal, looking like a golden crown, with an empty space in the middle.
Perhaps because she was facing the charge of the Noxian army directly and felt nervous, her magic had already manifested on the surface of her body, making her glow with a special faint light.
"I'll go first!"
Taking a deep breath, Lux stepped forward and raised the staff in her hand. The light around her grew brighter and brighter.
As she released her hand, the staff floated in midair, and Lux began releasing the magic inside her body.
Powerful magic lifted her body off the ground. Light bloomed at this moment, becoming increasingly radiant, while the surrounding magic converged toward a single point.
A fierce wind coiled around her. A humming sound rang out, as if some terrifying power were about to erupt.
The magic continued to boil and surge, shooting a beam of light forward like a ray from the sun.
"Hah!"
In the next second, along with Lux's shout, all that magic erupted at once.
Following that ray, the staff immediately released an incomparably brilliant light, dazzling enough to seize the soul. In an instant, even the night was lit up. The boiling magic crashed heavily into the barrier.
Visible ripples appeared on the barrier formed by the combined power of hundreds of mages. It nearly collapsed on the spot, then dimmed by several degrees and became unsteady.
This blast directly stunned countless people on the other side.
Even now, a long, scorched mark one meter thick remained on the ground.
You call that magic?
More than a dozen mages near Omos spat blood on the spot and stopped supplying magic afterward.
Even Omos, a high-ranking mage, looked rather unwell at this moment.
Damn it, what kind of magic was that?
The freaking sky lit up for a second.
Was that really power released by just one mage?
Was this some kind of joke?
After Demacia legalized magic, where had they found a monster like that?
"Reinforce the barrier!"
He had no time to think further and shouted loudly.
Immediately, several mages stepped forward as substitutes, sustaining the barrier that had nearly collapsed.
However, at that moment, the mages beside Lux also began pouring their magic onto the barrier.
All kinds of spells appeared one after another, striking the barrier together with cannon shells and bullets.
"Damn it, we can't hold them off for long like this!"
Omos knew he still had to preserve at least half of his magic to deal with the battle afterward.
The enemy's firepower was too fierce. Continuing to maintain the barrier was no different from wasting magic.
"Soon! Our flanking force should have circled around by now!"
Demir shouted as well.
"Kill!"
At that moment, from the side of the Demacian army, a loud cry of slaughter suddenly erupted.
A force of over ten thousand soldiers suddenly launched a surprise attack.
Luke was not surprised by this. In his view, if Noxus did not even have this much sense, there would be no need to fight the war.
Knowing that a frontal charge was suicide, they would naturally need to buy time for their allies to circle around and strike the flank.
"Our allies are here! Kill!"
Seeing that the army he had arranged in advance had finally attacked, Demir felt as though he saw a sliver of hope.
At this time, the frontal charging force, led by Kled, had already shortened the distance by a large margin, paving a road with corpses.
They had paid a sacrifice of at least tens of thousands. Of their original one hundred seventy thousand troops, only around one hundred thousand remained now.
Even so, they still held the advantage in numbers.
At this moment, the effect of cannons and firearms dropped in a straight line.
"Victory belongs to Demacia!"
Luke drew his longsword and raised it high into the sky, his eyes cold. "Kill!"
"For Demacia!"
Behind him, the soldiers erupted in an even stronger roar.
"Time for battle!"
Kled shouted excitedly, even though Skaarl beneath him was trembling nonstop.
He knew that if she had the chance, she would definitely turn and run.
But that was no problem. They had already reached the enemy. Now it was time for Kled to dominate the battle!
Around him, the morale of the Noxian soldiers surged wildly.
"You're not the only one who can grant buffs."
Luke glanced at Kled.
If killing a Yordle would not place a debuff on him, Luke would not have minded fighting Kled himself.
But Poppy was here. Since she was also a Yordle, she could naturally offset that debuff.
Ding.
At this moment, an abrupt melody sounded from within the Demacian army, followed immediately by an impassioned tune.
Protected in the middle of the formation, Sona closed her eyes. Her expression was sacred and dignified, and her two fair hands focused intently on plucking the strings. Magic spread outward, quickly sweeping across the entire battlefield.
Hymn of Valor.
Aria of Perseverance.
Song of Celerity.
These songs all came from the depths of Sona's heart. They could bring powerful strength to the people she wanted to protect.
Within this music, every Demacian soldier felt their soul resonate with it, and an inexplicable courage and strength filled their bodies.
Even Luke felt his body grow stronger.
And Sona's playing did not stop there. Magic visibly filled the air around her, dotted with particles of light, forming glowing curves in the air like musical scores.
As she played, those curves transformed into blue waves of light and shot toward the enemy, striking one target after another.
"I hate music!"
The beautiful music fell into Kled's ears sounding as awful as Skaarl's mating cries.
His temper immediately flared. He rode Skaarl and was about to charge toward Sona.
Suddenly, a small figure dropped down from above, accompanied by a heavy hammer blow that smashed into the ground right where Kled had barely dodged away.
When the smoke dispersed, Poppy walked out from within it and looked at Kled with an extremely serious gaze. "Your opponent is me!"
"Kinfolk?"
Kled looked at Poppy and recognized at a glance that she was also a Yordle. He was a little happy, and also a little excited. "It's not easy meeting kinfolk here, but sorry. Since you're my enemy, don't blame me for tearing you apart! Skaarl, charge!"
Immediately, Skaarl lunged forward, coordinating with Kled as he swung down his battle-axe.
Poppy stood unmoving as a mountain. Watching Kled charge toward her, she directly swung the sacred hammer in her hand.
Surprisingly, this hammer blow did not send Kled flying. It was intercepted in midair by his battle-axe, and their strength locked in a stalemate.
In the next second, Kled's figure flickered, and he had already dashed in front of Poppy, his battle-axe slashing down rapidly.
"You're really fast!"
Poppy remained calm. She raised the small shield in her left hand and blocked the strike.
"You bet I am!"
Kled was extremely pleased, and the speed of his slashes grew faster and faster. "We could've had a nice little chat, but I think we'll save that for our next lives!"
"You'd better be careful!"
Several slash marks began appearing on Poppy's shield. Suddenly, she shouted unexpectedly, and a golden light flashed across her body.
A powerful aura knocked Kled back, and immediately after, what he had to face was a hammer blow crashing down heavily.
Bang!
The hammer struck Kled and Skaarl hard, sending both of them flying on the spot before they crashed to the ground.
Skaarl, whose courage had long since shattered, scrambled up, coughed a few times, and finally found an opportunity to turn and run.
She nimbly passed through one fighting soldier after another. In the blink of an eye, she had already put some distance between them.
"Stupid lizard, running again!"
Kled got up, spat out a mouthful of bloody saliva, and looked back at Poppy. "You really do have some skill, but even without that stupid lizard, I can still fight you."
He also knew that cowardly creature had already done well to last until now.
Skaarl herself had no real fighting power. She was just a cowardly lizard.
Next, he would recreate every battle he had fought in the past, win this war, then wait for Skaarl to come back.
"Then come on!"
Poppy grew serious and attacked first.
She directly hurled the shield in her hand toward Kled. The shield lit up with a golden light in midair, but Kled dodged it with a jump from where he stood.
In the next second, he pounced toward Poppy.
Without Skaarl, he seemed to have become stronger, or more importantly, even more agile. His attack speed was something even Poppy had to deal with carefully. With just a moment of carelessness, another slash mark appeared on her armor.
He darted left and right, using speed to harass Poppy.
In a short time, more and more slash marks appeared across Poppy's armor.
Taking the chance to retrieve her shield, Poppy found the right timing. Suddenly, she accelerated, raised her shield, and charged straight into Kled.
Kled could not dodge in time and took the full impact, flying backward once again.
"Interesting! Again!"
But this time, he reacted quickly. Before landing, he had already adjusted his posture, braked sharply, and once again took up his battle-axe to charge at Poppy.
The battle between the two Yordles continued in a deadlock.
Meanwhile, on Luke's side, he held Snowglance in his hand. A powerful wind intent and sword intent coiled around him as he swung a full-powered strike.
In an instant, a raging tornado roared forward, sweeping up the Noxian soldiers along its path.
Those soldiers were drawn into the tornado before crashing heavily onto the ground.
The powerful aura around Luke immediately intimidated the surrounding circle of Noxian soldiers.
A figure walked out from among the soldiers, holding a round warhammer and looking at Luke cautiously. "Prince, I'll fight you."
Demir had personally seen the prince slash out a massive tornado with a single sword strike. That one attack alone had swept away at least a dozen or twenty soldiers.
Knowing that the other party's strength was extraordinary, Demir did not dare let his focus slip in the slightest.
In the next second, Demir stepped forward directly and charged toward Luke.
Luke's expression was calm, but his gaze remained cold. Facing Demir as he charged in, he swung his sword.
Swish!
Sword intent, accompanied by Steel Tempest, flashed through midair.
Demir's attack was forcibly stopped. The warhammer in front of him trembled slightly.
"Demir, capture the king first if you want to catch the thieves. Let's kill this prince together!"
At that moment, Kabud also arrived beside Demir.
As the leading general, Luke was naturally the target of countless people. Killing him would not only earn great merit, but also heavily damage the morale of the Demacian army.
"Good!"
Demir did not dare be overconfident. He nodded, then charged toward Luke together with Kabud.
"The two of you aren't qualified."
Luke exhaled, and his expression became a little colder.
In an instant, the sword intent throughout his body was released without reservation. A terrifying sword intent instantly filled the surroundings, sharp and piercing, making people feel as though their faces were being cut by blades.
Demir and Kabud, who faced Luke personally, only felt their shoulders sink. From the prince before them came a crushing pressure like a massive mountain, making even their breathing tighten.
In the next second, Luke moved.
He stepped out with Sweeping Blade. A flash of sword light crossed the air, and a cyclone slash tore through the atmosphere. Ring-shaped sword energy swept not only toward Demir and Kabud, but also attacked the surrounding enemies.
Just this one strike forced Demir and Kabud to use all their strength to barely block it.
And the weaker soldiers were killed on the spot by that single slash.
At this moment, Luke's terrifying strength made both Demir and Kabud feel fear.
This prince's power had completely exceeded their expectations.
In the very next second, Luke's second sword strike also came. The sword energy released a humming sound, its momentum even more surging than the previous strike. It was faster, so fast the naked eye could barely capture it.
A fear of death swept over Demir and Kabud.
However, in the next moment, Luke leaped into the air and jumped backward.
The instant he left, several surging waves of magic crashed down from the sky. A large pit instantly appeared on the ground along with splashing smoke and dust. The power was not weak.
Luke looked toward the mages who had attacked him. Several mages were protected by soldiers, and upon seeing that their sneak attack had failed, they rapidly retreated.
In the next second, the same dangerous omen came again. Several more spells attacked him.
Luke's figure dodged with agility. His gaze swept around, and he knew that he had probably already become the target of those mages.
"So we're playing hide-and-seek? Don't let me catch you!"
Seeing the mages flee immediately after attacking, Luke raised an eyebrow.
Without another word, his figure flashed, and he shot out at extreme speed.
He even ignored the two men who were clearly Noxian generals from earlier, specifically going after these dirty old mages.
Soon, he saw a mage hiding at the rear of the battlefield, condensing a spell orb and preparing to strike at any moment.
Shouts of slaughter came from around him as more than a dozen Noxian soldiers surrounded him aggressively.
In the next second, Luke charged straight out, his body moving like lightning. Wind guarded him, and sword light flashed along his path, directly sending the surrounding soldiers flying.
He charged straight toward that mage.
One second later, the mage's head separated from his body.
Afterward, Luke turned his cold gaze toward the other mages, exuding tremendous pressure.
At that moment, rumbling vibrations sounded from the ground. Suddenly, a large number of magical beasts also joined the battlefield. They were Noxus's unique basilisks and drakehounds.
Both types of magical beasts were characterized by their enormous size, reaching three meters tall. The basilisks were even taller, and were usually used as siege beasts.
The drakehounds were fast, and their damage was also far from low.
This was clearly another backup prepared by Noxus. These powerful magical beasts had not been used during the charge, but were used now.
"It's time to counterattack!"
"Our turn has come!"
"Kill!"
The roars of beasts resounded over the battlefield. The morale of the Noxian army instantly surged, and the soldiers visibly grew excited.
The hope they saw was growing greater and greater.
Even Demir and Kabud believed that now, they truly had the strength to fight Demacia.
They had a full thousand mages, which was no less valuable than an army of ten thousand. And those magical beasts were even more destructive.
Even the Demacian soldiers, who were individually quite strong, would find it difficult to resist.
They had a chance!
Their moment of counterattack had truly arrived!
A glimmer of hope rose in both of their hearts.
But very soon, that glimmer would be mercilessly extinguished.
Lux's staff continuously surged with beams of magical light. Her magic strength was no longer weak now, and basically every spell could take down an enemy.
Her figure moved nimbly through the battlefield. While casting Prismatic Barrier, she also attacked, becoming more and more at ease.
Suddenly, her mind stirred, and she felt a resonance.
Summoned unit has entered callable range!
"Take care of that blond mage first! She's too much trouble!"
At that moment, a group of soldiers and mages locked onto Lux.
Anyone could sense that Lux was extraordinary. She had also become a priority target.
"Come on! You started this!"
Lux's courage had become incredibly great by now. Facing the enemies watching her like tigers eyeing prey, she did not panic in the slightest.
In the next second, she raised her staff high and shouted, releasing all her magic.
In an instant, a powerful wave of light shot toward the night sky, instantly illuminating it. The beam of light was extremely conspicuous as it crossed the battlefield.
Lux bathed in that light like a goddess.
The enemies, who had originally been startled by her strange move, were stunned.
She missed?
She could miss that badly?
Then they could not be blamed for being rude!
"Hit her!"
With a command, attack after attack swept toward Lux.
Lux's figure flashed, and she dodged them nimbly.
Although she was a mage, she had learned quite a lot from Luke, Wind-Wielding Swordsmanship, Godspeed Footwork, Stealth Arts.
Her proficiency in every skill was not low.
Having high talent meant she could do whatever she wanted.
This situation did not last long, because in the next second, the wind rose.
A gale suddenly swept across the battlefield, followed by the howling of a violent wind, as if something were about to arrive.
It was not "as if", he really had come!
The light in the sky dispersed, replaced by an increasingly large figure. His pure white body was majestic like a mountain.
Boom!
In the next second, he smashed heavily into a cluster of enemies on the battlefield.
Just that impact alone sent who knew how many people flying. A huge crater appeared in the ground, covered with cracks.
"Now it's Galio's turn!"
A voice echoed from within the crater, a voice no one in the present world had ever heard before.
A stone giant laughed boldly. His deep, broad voice resounded across the battlefield, making every Demacian soldier feel much more at ease.
As for the Noxian soldiers, looking at that stone giant who could move freely, they all went somewhat dumbfounded.
"What is that thing?"
A soldier could not help swallowing and asked the question from the depths of his soul.
"Me?"
Galio seemed to have heard his question. He walked forward, the ground rumbling beneath him, and laughed heartily. "Just think of me as your nightmare!"
As he spoke, the golden wings on his back spread open, and wild wind gathered within them.
When he fiercely flapped them toward the enemy mass, two enormous blasts of cutting wind roared out and swept away countless people.
Returning to the battlefield after so long, Galio felt that the air everywhere was filled with the scent he loved.
He was needed again!
He felt hot blood burning in the veins of his body. Although he did not have veins, that should be called excitement!
"Lux, can I crush these mages?"
His gaze turned toward the enemy mages, eager to move.
Lux put on an angry little face. "Take them down!"
"Order received!"
Galio laughed loudly, stepped his right foot back, and set his entire body into a charging stance.
In the next second, he suddenly exerted force, and his massive body instantly charged out, rumbling like rolling thunder.
He rampaged all the way through. What giant beasts? All of them were completely unable to withstand a single blow. He was like a giant pendulum that had suddenly been dropped onto the battlefield. No one dared stand in front of this massive hammer.
Galio rushed into the enemy mage formation at extreme speed and looked down at them from above.
These were enemies. He did not need to show mercy at all!
"Attack that monster!"
"Protect the mages!"
Shouts continuously rang out from the Noxian ranks.
In an instant, countless attacks fell onto Galio, but they were like scratching an itch and did nothing to him.
And those mages, treated as treasures by people, began releasing powerful spell after powerful spell.
"Fall!"
Omos was the first to bear the brunt. His eyes were cold, and a massive spell orb gathered at the tip of his staff. The magic surging over the orb fluctuated constantly, showing the power of this strike.
In the next second, he smashed it straight at Galio.
However, the instant the spell orb struck Galio's body, there was no follow-up.
A strange ripple spread across Galio's surface, and his laughter became even more hearty. "Come on! More magic!"
He clenched both fists, then smashed them down heavily, instantly crushing several mages.
Then his gaze shifted and landed on Omos.
Omos's heart trembled. A great fear surged up within him, making him unable to stop himself from taking several steps back.
Driven by instinct, he began chanting without hesitation. First, he released a barrier with all his strength, then started preparing an even stronger spell.
Galio walked toward him calmly. Then he raised his fist toward the barrier and, without another word, punched down.
Crack!
The barrier shattered clearly. Omos fell to the ground at once and looked at Galio in terror.
As a high-ranking mage, he held an extremely high status even in Noxus.
But at this moment, he only felt that everything he had learned in magic had no use at all.
In his eyes, the stone giant's fist came closer and closer.
Boom!
Another small crater appeared on the ground, along with a pool of blood.
"Who's next?"
Galio turned and looked toward the next mages.
Everyone targeted by him turned in terror and fled for their lives, completely lacking even the courage to resist.
On this battlefield, Galio was completely like an unreasonable overlord. He went wherever he wanted, rampaging freely and unstoppable.
But one thing never changed. Wherever Galio went, the enemy's courage shattered.
Demir and Kabud looked at that stone giant going wild, and a trace of blankness appeared on their faces.
What kind of monster was that?
Neither physical attacks nor magic worked on it!
Suddenly, a term flashed through their minds.
Petricite!
Then they reacted. This was clearly a stone giant forged from petricite!
They watched as Galio destroyed everything freely on the battlefield. In less than a minute, several hundred mages had already died at his hands.
The number of soldiers was even more countless.
The morale that had risen among the soldiers a second ago was shattered by Galio's appearance the next second.
Those enormous magical beasts were also completely unimpressive before him. He kicked them flying one after another.
Had the counterattack moment arrived? No, the counterattack moment was already over!
That brief trial version of a counterattack made every Noxian soldier feel despair.
Soon, another sprinting petricite colossus joined the battlefield.
It was precisely the petricite colossus built by the Petricite Colossus Department.
Likewise affected by Lux's magic, it had awakened early and sprinted into the battlefield.
Its killing power was not weak either. It also rampaged across the battlefield, doing whatever it wanted.
With the two petricite colossi joining in, a battle that had already favored Demacia suddenly became even more advantageous, almost turning into a one-sided trend.
Seeing Galio having the time of his life, Luke did not remain idle either and killed as many enemies as possible.
The battle here did not affect the two Yordles over there in the slightest.
It was as if a ring had been specially cleared around them.
Kled had no idea how many times he had been smashed away. He felt every bone in his body starting to hurt. They were probably broken. His throat tasted sweet, probably blood.
To be fair, this kinfolk of his really was no joke. It had been a long time since he had met an opponent who could fight this well.
But he had not just taken hits either.
Cracks had appeared in Poppy's armor, with blood seeping out from within. Her once clean battle helmet was now covered in scars, and her face had also been cut once by the battle-axe, though the wound was not deep.
But if it had gone a little deeper, the battle would probably have ended.
She had also used up a great deal of stamina, and likewise felt that it had been a long time since she had met an opponent this capable.
"Looks like I can't keep playing with you. They need me!"
Kled saw the colossus appear and knew those soldiers probably could not win without him.
He had to end the battle here.
"Same here. My companions need me!"
Poppy's eyes were firm. Her shield was no longer in her hand, leaving only a hammer.
"Then let's end this fight!"
Kled roared, an indescribable madness appearing in his eyes. Even though his whole body hurt so badly he could barely move, he still burst out with all his speed. At this moment, a wave of heat burned around him, an incomparably surging momentum.
His trait was that he grew braver the longer he fought. The pain in his body would only make him stronger!
This would be his strongest strike in history!
Poppy took a deep breath, gripped her hammer tightly, and swung it with all her strength.
As she swung the hammer, a golden light flickered over it, giving off a whistling sound. The surrounding air seemed to be drawn in, constantly gathering toward the center.
The moment Kled charged in, the hammer also smashed down with all her strength.
In an instant, light flared.
Rumble!
The ground itself was overturned by this strike. Massive rocks protruded one after another. Kled's attack pierced through rock after rock, but in the end, it still failed to reach the end.
He was sent flying by the powerful force of the hammer, soaring high into the air and flying into the distance.
In midair, Kled felt every bone in his body shatter at this moment. He spat out a mouthful of blood, and his consciousness fell into a daze.
He had never encountered something like this before. In the battles of the past, even when heavily wounded, he could remain awake and kill every enemy.
But this time seemed different.
He felt the strength in his body begin to drain away.
Kled did not crash onto the ground. Instead, he landed on Skaarl's back.
Skaarl had already fled the battlefield, but at the final moment, she still turned back and ran over.
From the very beginning when she met Kled, she had only been a lizard who wanted to survive. She had no real fighting power, only the ability to run fast.
But she liked Kled, so she followed him through battle after battle.
Every time, she was scared half to death, but Kled always kept her alive in the end.
This time was different. Halfway through escaping, Skaarl had a premonition, a feeling that she was about to lose something.
So despite the danger, she fled back.
After being smashed heavily onto the ground, Skaarl struggled to stand. She turned her head, steadied Kled on her back, and looked toward the edge of the battlefield.
She no longer wanted to win this battle. Right now, she only wanted to leave this place with Kled.
"Stupid lizard, why'd you come back again?"
Kled could vaguely sense Skaarl. He muttered, dissatisfied, and patted her. "You run first. I can still fight."
Skaarl cried softly. Her silly-looking big eyes turned, as if responding to him. Then, without hesitation, she suddenly dashed outward.
Kled actually no longer had any strength. His body rose and fell with Skaarl's running, and every motion brought sharp pain through him.
Because he was not holding onto Skaarl, after only a few steps, he fell from her back.
Skaarl ran a few steps forward before realizing it. She hurriedly turned back, steadied Kled again, and continued desperately fleeing for their lives.
The Demacian soldiers spotted them.
On the battlefield, enemies were not worthy of sympathy.
They surrounded the enemy general, closing in to block him.
Skaarl ran with all her might, dodged with all her might, and broke through one encirclement after another.
Suddenly, an arrow shot over and struck her directly in the rear.
Skaarl's eyes filled with tears from the pain, and she jumped in place, but she ignored the pain and kept sprinting.
"Silly thing, don't worry about me. Run first."
Kled saw Skaarl hit by the arrow and felt terrible for her.
When had Skaarl ever suffered this kind of grievance while following him? He was very angry. He was furious!
But where was his strength?
Why was his strength still not surging back?
Run, run, run.
At this moment, Skaarl unleashed unprecedented speed. She passed person after person and dodged one lethal strike after another.
Finally, she carried Kled out of the battlefield!
Looking toward the forest, Skaarl did not hesitate and plunged straight in.
After running into the forest, Skaarl did not dare stop and continued sprinting until she had no strength left. Only then did she stop, panting heavily.
She let out two excited cries and lowered Kled from her back, as if asking him for praise.
But she discovered that Kled now looked weak and powerless.
"You ran real fast, Skaarl."
Kled forced himself to sit up, leaning against a tree and panting. His voice was also weak.
Feeling the weakness in his body, as well as the strength continuously draining away, he said, "I think I'm done for."
Just a light cough made him spit out a large mouthful of blood.
His vision was completely blurry. He could not even see Skaarl clearly anymore.
Skaarl's pair of not-too-clever-looking eyes turned. Then she moved closer to Kled and stuck out her tongue, licking the wounds on his body.
Normally, this trick worked very well. Her saliva had a marvelous effect on healing wounds, but this time, it did not work.
So she nudged Kled with her head and cried twice, as if asking what to do.
"What a strong opponent. She beat me."
Kled savored the battle from earlier. He had fought countless battles in his life, but this time, his defeat was complete.
His blurry gaze looked toward Skaarl, and he reached out to stroke her face. "Don't worry about me. Find yourself a new master, then stay out of these things and live well."
Skaarl shook her head and continued nudging Kled, unwilling to leave.
They had depended on each other for too long. In truth, neither of them could leave the other.
Kled's vision suddenly became clear, like a final flash before death, and his body recovered a little strength.
He looked in Skaarl's direction, wanting to scare her away.
He knew this stupid lizard was especially timid and not very smart. If he frightened her even a little, she would definitely run far, far away and never come back.
But when he looked over, his gaze suddenly froze.
At this moment, Skaarl's back was filled with arrows, like a hedgehog. Blood kept flowing out, and it would not be an exaggeration to call her covered in wounds.
Usually, she was most afraid of pain, but now it was as though she could not feel it.
She still looked at him with those silly, adorable eyes.
She was panting heavily and seemed to have no strength left either, using her constantly trembling legs to support her body.
"You stupid lizard."
Kled reached out and pulled Skaarl into his arms, feeling her heartbeat gradually weaken.
He unconsciously raised his head, and his gaze happened to land on the bright moon hanging high in the night sky. It stood above them all, as if unrelated to the mortal world.
"Do you remember when the two of us first met? Back then, I wanted to find myself a tall, handsome mount. Then I saw you. I thought you definitely wouldn't do. You looked dumb and clumsy. But for some reason, in the end, I still chose you. Or maybe you chose me."
"The two of us were partners destined by fate. You were like my lucky star. Every battle we took part in came with good luck."
"It's just that this time, we got a little unlucky."
Kled muttered to himself, his voice echoing through the forest.
Skaarl breathed weakly, but even so, she still cried twice in response.
"Right? Good luck runs out sooner or later."
As Kled spoke, he coughed twice and spat out several more mouthfuls of blood. When he lowered his head again to look, Skaarl had already gone still, her eyes closed as if she had fallen asleep.
Kled sighed, raised his head to look at the moon, and lifted his hand, as though trying to grasp it. Then he murmured to himself.
"The life of a Noxian hero. Didn't expect it to end so dramatically. I... still..."
As Kled spoke, he suddenly felt especially sleepy and unconsciously closed his eyes.
Then he would sleep.
The world went dark all at once. His body grew weaker and softer until it finally slid down from the tree he had been leaning against.
He nestled against the lizard and did not move again, as if he had fallen asleep.
