Chapter 339 - Chapter 339: Coup (EC)

In the blink of an eye, three days passed.

Noxus Prime.

The entire sky was shrouded in a gray haze. Clusters of dark clouds gathered in sheets, and a faint wind swept through every street in the city, somehow weighing down people's hearts.

It always seemed as if a storm was about to break.

Drip.

Suddenly, some pedestrians on the street felt a chill on their noses as a drop of water fell. Then came two drops, three drops. The rain had arrived.

Autumn rain came when it pleased. With a rushing roar, it turned from a drizzle into a downpour in the blink of an eye.

At the towering Immortal Bastion, the majestic tower-like structure stood at the center of the city. It was the first fortress conquered by the tribes of Noxus, and later, generations of Noxians had made it their capital.

The military council hall.

Upon the throne.

Darkwill sat expressionlessly, his eyes sweeping over the ministers discussing below. As he listened to the ceaseless rain outside, the irritation in his heart intensified.

There was not much time left. Truly, not much time at all.

Although the Black Rose had said that in two more days, they would definitely give him a satisfactory answer, for the current him, even two days was already too long.

The Demacian army was currently marching toward Qualthala. They hung over his heart like a sharp sword.

He could not help thinking, what if they still had no way to deal with them this time?

What if they kept losing?

Darkwill realized the fear in his heart, and that made him fly into a sudden rage. With an ugly expression, he swept his gaze across the ministers, slammed his right hand hard against the throne, and shouted angrily, "I gave you this much time, yet not one of you has given me a satisfactory answer. Does Noxus feed you all just so you can sit around doing nothing?"

His sudden anger made the ministers below fall silent in fear. Not a single person dared speak.

All of them buried their heads, as if too ashamed to face him.

"We have everything Demacia has, and even more than they do. I gave you endless resources, yet who can answer me, why are we now being trampled under their feet and humiliated at will?"

Darkwill looked at these ministers in disappointment. At this moment, if even one person had stepped forward, perhaps his mood would not have become this terrible.

But there was no one. The hall below remained silent from beginning to end, as if this were a one-man show performed by him alone.

The sound of rushing rain grew louder and louder, and Darkwill's mood grew more and more agitated.

For some reason, he kept feeling something was wrong today. Everywhere he looked felt wrong, and everyone he looked at felt wrong.

The corner of his eye had been twitching constantly, and even last night, he had not slept well.

Tap, tap, tap.

Just then, a burst of footsteps suddenly sounded, followed by a man's low voice.

"Because you were wrong from the very beginning."

"Who?"

Darkwill's gaze turned cold as he looked toward the source of the voice.

As the footsteps grew closer and closer, a figure gradually walked into his field of vision. He wore a black robe and had white hair. He walked over as if strolling through a garden. His red eyes flickered with the firelight, carrying a profound depth.

When you looked into those eyes, no matter from what angle, it felt as though he was also watching you.

Seeing the visitor, Darkwill froze for a moment and blurted out, "Jericho Swain? You're not dead?"

"I merely returned from hell."

Swain walked toward the middle of the hall, his tone unhurried. "I saw the Wolf flash before my eyes, but he did not take me. He allowed me to return to the mortal world and save Noxus."

Listening to him, Darkwill looked at him and suddenly smiled. "Good. Noxus needs you now more than ever. Swain, when I heard news of your death back then, I was devastated. Seeing you return alive now is the best news I have heard recently."

He rose from the throne and descended the high steps one by one, as if he meant to personally welcome Swain.

The smile on his face made it seem as though he was sincerely happy for Swain's return.

Swain raised his head slightly, his deep gaze looking at him as he said, "Darkwill, the game of seeking immortality should end."

Darkwill froze on the steps. From above, he looked down at Swain, the smile still on his face. "What are you talking about?"

"The Black Rose helped you ascend the throne. They told you there was an elixir of immortality in Ionia. From that moment on, you became as if possessed and sent troops eastward."

Swain's tone was calm. "Eight years, countless dead and wounded. Now, with a great enemy before us, you remain obsessed, still dreaming of eternal life. It is time to wake up."

"I sent troops eastward more to expand Noxus's territory. Ionia is a precious land, and it should have belonged to Noxus in the first place."

Darkwill looked at him. "But you are right. I truly should not have insisted on attacking Ionia. This matter was indeed my mistake, and it nearly caused you to be buried there. I know you hold resentment toward me in your heart, but now is not the time for a petty quarrel between ruler and subject. Swain, assist me as you did before."

"Ruler? Subject?"

Swain smiled. It was a gentle smile. Then he said, "After today, Noxus will no longer need a king."

The smile on Darkwill's face vanished. He stared coldly at Swain. "What exactly do you mean?"

"You are no longer fit to sit in that position. Darkwill, for the sake of Noxus," Swain said word by word, his voice growing colder, "I ask you to die."

"How dare you!"

An elderly minister angrily stepped forward and pointed straight at Swain. "Boy of House Swain, know your place. How dare you show such disrespect to the Grand General!"

"What outrageous words. Swain, this is treason!"

"Do not act insolently here!"

One minister after another stepped forward, glaring angrily at Swain.

They were all Darkwill's loyalists. For Swain to speak in such a way had naturally already gravely offended both Darkwill and them.

Darkwill said coldly, "So, you intend to rebel?"

Swain did not deny it. "That is correct. That is my intention."

"How laughable. If you wish to pull me down from the position of Grand General, you must first have the ability to do so."

Darkwill sneered and gave an order. "Men, execute this rebel on the spot!"

At once, waves of orderly footsteps sounded. From outside the hall, one Noxian soldier after another, armed with heavy weapons and clad in armor, crowded into the hall and headed toward Swain.

Swain stood indifferently in place.

The next second, those soldiers scattered to the sides and aimed their weapons at Darkwill and his followers.

Seeing this scene, Darkwill and those followers all froze slightly.

The white-haired old man from earlier grew furious. "Rebellion! Rebellion! You actually dare point your weapons at the Grand General?"

"Shut your mouth."

A minister could no longer stand it. He stepped forward and looked at the white-haired old man. "I have endured you all for a very long time. You clearly knew he was wrong, yet you still insisted on going down this path. Even so, you still protect him, shielding one another as officials, colluding in private, greedy and corrupt."

"That's right. This is Noxus, not your personal hall, Darkwill."

"One wrong step leads to every step being wrong. Darkwill, you no longer deserve to sit in that position!"

The ministers who had been silent for so long now stepped forward one after another, their accusations all aimed directly at Darkwill.

Seeing this, Darkwill already understood what was going on. He looked at Swain and said coldly, "It seems you returned earlier than I imagined. But you merely turned a few people against me. With this paltry number, you think you can overthrow me? Ridiculous!"

"Among these people, I only turned two." Swain looked at him and said, "One is Wolly Rooney. The other is Darren Dudley."

The moment his words fell, Darkwill's gaze turned toward two ministers, his anger carrying a trace of disbelief.

These two were both his trusted confidants.

Back when he became Grand General, they had done no small amount of work behind the scenes to help make it happen.

Yet now, Swain was telling him they had been turned?

Seeing Darkwill's gaze, Wolly and Darren no longer remained silent. They both stepped forward and spoke.

"Back then, we followed you because we saw limitless possibilities in you."

"But now, you have taken the wrong path. We advised you. Your eyes are filled only with eternal life. Noxus became your one-man court, and no matter who it was, no one dared defy you."

"You gave us too much, but precisely because of that, you could take it away at any time."

"All these years, before you, we have been walking on thin ice, terrified of saying the wrong thing."

"It is time for such days to end."

They poured out the resentment they had buried in their hearts.

Darkwill laughed angrily. "Good! Good! Good! I treated you well, yet I never imagined I had raised two ungrateful wolves!"

Wolly looked at him. "Darkwill, do you still not understand?"

Swain took over. "Darkwill, you have lost the hearts of the people."

"What nonsense about the hearts of the people!"

Veins bulged on Darkwill's forehead. Alone on the platform, he looked down on everyone. Then he raised his hand and slowly clenched his fist. "In Noxus, strength is everything. I have strength, so I should be the one to rule everything!"

He returned to the steps and slowly turned the handle on the throne.

Yet after waiting for some time, no movement came.

He frowned slightly.

Suddenly, more than twenty corpses fell from the ceiling. All of them had been killed by a single fatal cut.

Immediately after, one gray-robed figure after another dropped down. Their faces were covered, their gazes calm.

A slender figure landed not far away, flicked the blood from her dagger, looked at Darkwill, and smiled calmly. "Were you waiting for them? Or were you waiting for your trusted subordinates to arrive with troops? Why not take a look outside, Darkwill?"

Darkwill's gaze narrowed slightly as he looked at those corpses. They were all his personal soldiers, each with formidable strength, yet they had died without a sound.

After hearing her words, he immediately took a few steps to the right. Through the window, he looked toward the city.

His eyesight was excellent. He instantly saw the city streets under the pouring rain, where countless black-armored soldiers had appeared everywhere. Black-armored soldiers fought black-armored soldiers.

Some died, some surrendered, some were executed, and every action was carried out with extreme decisiveness.

All of this seemed to have happened all of a sudden. Amid this urgent downpour, Swain's rebellion was proceeding in an orderly manner.

"Or were you waiting for the Black Rose to save you? If they dare come, perfect. We can catch them all in one net."

Behind him, a voice sounded once more.

Darkwill turned around with a gloomy expression and stared at the woman. "The Assassin's Guild. Katarina. I should have realized long ago that you were colluding in secret."

"Colluding? No. We merely joined forces because we share the same objective."

Katarina looked coldly at Darkwill. "You no longer deserve to command Noxus, Darkwill. Noxus's wrong path should also end here."

"Heh. Do you think you have me cornered like this?"

Darkwill sneered. A terrifying aura suddenly erupted from his entire body. His eyes turned red, his neatly combed hair burst outward, and he instantly charged toward Katarina.

His speed was extremely fast. Almost in an instant, he appeared before Katarina.

Katarina immediately dodged, a faint shock appearing in her eyes. She seemed not to have expected Darkwill to be hiding such strength.

That speed was something even she had not clearly seen.

According to their investigation, Darkwill possessed decent strength himself, but looking at it now, he had hidden himself very deeply.

"Not just anyone can lay hands on this seat!"

A flash of white light appeared in Darkwill's hand. A sleeve blade hidden in his cuff unsheathed and slashed toward Katarina.

Just then, a fierce attack came out of nowhere. Darkwill felt an intense threat and had no choice but to abandon his attack and defend.

His body was shaken back several meters. In the blink of an eye, he suddenly discovered that Swain had appeared before him.

He was shocked in his heart because he had not seen how Swain attacked at all.

The next second, a strange red light flashed in Swain's eyes. In the unseen world, it was as if the cry of a raven sounded. A surge of red magical lightning, like thunder, instantly sent Darkwill flying.

"Magic?" Darkwill retreated through the air and stared at Swain in horror. "No, perhaps an even stronger power."

He landed on the ground and watched Swain warily, but he felt something was wrong.

His instincts gave him a strong warning, as if some danger were about to arrive.

What was it?

Darkwill frowned tightly. The battle had barely begun, so why did he already feel so uneasy?

In a moment of distraction, he suddenly saw a crimson blood-colored eyeball before him, staring at him eerily. In an instant, it seemed to drag him into boundless darkness.

"No! Get out!"

Darkwill flew into a rage and roared. His body swelled, erupting with an even stronger aura.

At this moment, every corner of his body contained endless power.

This was the power the Black Rose had given him.

In this state, he was invincible.

The next second, Darkwill returned from the darkness to reality. His scarlet gaze searched for the enemy, only for him to discover several ravens perched on his shoulders.

Those ravens stared at him strangely from every angle. Some opened their beaks and let out sharp cries.

There was one especially strange raven. It had six eyes, its feathers were dark and glossy, and it was tilting its head as it observed him.

Darkwill angrily swept them all away. The ravens flew up and landed on the windows.

When he turned back, Darkwill froze.

Swain stood there, his expression unchanged. Those strange red eyes looked at him with contempt. At this moment, his figure seemed to stretch infinitely.

He seemed to become a giant, standing high above and looking down on Darkwill.

Suddenly, behind him, a pair of enormous black wings spread open. An indescribably terrifying power pressed down on Darkwill's heart.

Gray-black feathers fell from the sky.

Darkwill felt his breathing grow hurried, his heartbeat quicken, and his entire body weaken. The powerful pressure emanating from Swain crushed him until he could barely breathe.

Only shock and terror remained in his eyes. In the final moment of his life, he finally realized what power Swain had grasped.

"Demon…"

Before the word finished, he had already been seized in midair by Swain. A power he could not resist left him unable to breathe, and his face grew increasingly pale.

The next second, Swain clenched his fist. Darkwill's struggling body gradually stopped moving, then became completely still.

Swain released his hand, and Darkwill's corpse fell to the ground. One watching raven after another flew over, landing on his corpse and hopping.

And everything Darkwill had experienced in that short period, in everyone else's eyes, had only been Swain beating him one-sidedly.

They had personally watched Swain kill Darkwill without expending the slightest effort.

"Pass down the order. Darkwill is dead. Unnecessary conflict should now end. All those whose hearts are with Noxus have no need to continue fighting among ourselves. We should unite as one."

Swain turned around, his calm gaze looking at everyone below as he spoke.

Soon, soldiers turned around and passed down this order.

Some ministers looked at one another. Then they suddenly knelt on the ground and shouted, "Greetings, Grand General Swain!"

Some ministers said, "Lord Swain, please lead us against Demacia!"

"The throne belongs only to you!"

The ministers had personally witnessed Swain's shocking strength. In addition to his already widely recognized ability, if he usurped the throne at this moment, no one would refuse to obey.

He was the next Grand General of Noxus.

Swain looked at them submitting one after another, then slowly walked toward the throne, seemingly about to sit in that place under everyone's gaze.

But he did not.

He reached out and placed his hand upon the throne. Suddenly, he released a powerful surge of energy, destroying the throne before everyone.

Countless people stood frozen, dumbstruck.

The hall fell into absolute silence all at once.

Swain turned around and spoke, breaking the silence. "I said that after today, Noxus will no longer need a king. I will lead Noxus with all of you toward a better tomorrow. That is inevitable."

"From this moment on, I declare the abolition of the succession system of the Grand General used throughout the generations. The Trifarix is formally established, changing the system to council rule. From now on, the great authority over Noxus will no longer be monopolized by one person."

"I, together with Katarina Du Couteau, will temporarily serve as representatives of the Trifarix. Next, I will seek out more outstanding talents. At the same time, I also call upon all capable people to join the Trifarix. As long as you swear eternal loyalty to the empire, no matter who you are, I am willing to accept you, including the Black Rose. As long as you have ability, there will surely be a place for you on the stage of Noxus."

His words made the blood of those below boil, and they could not help shouting Swain's name.

The heavy rain was still falling. Amid the rain, a transformation belonging to Noxus was about to begin.

The news of Darkwill's death quickly spread throughout the entire city.

Before people even had time to feel surprised, what came right after was news of Swain and the establishment of the Trifarix.

Swain was actually still alive? He had killed Darkwill?

Darkwill had long since lost the hearts of the people, and they could not help applauding this.

At the same time, the succession system of the Grand General was abolished, and the Trifarix system was officially adopted. Power would be dispersed throughout different places, and everyone would jointly discuss Noxus's future.

Only those whose abilities were recognized by all could become representatives of the Trifarix.

It would no longer be like Darkwill, monopolizing political power and doing whatever he wanted.

At this time, Swain temporarily took over Darkwill's unfinished mission.

Facing the gathered ministers, Swain immediately said, "Pass down the order. Recall all troops invading Ionia."

"Send people to search for the whereabouts of the Black Rose. If possible, have them send a representative to meet me."

Very soon, a purge from top to bottom began.

Swain knew that wanting to thoroughly clean up this centuries-old city in a single day was absolutely impossible.

But that was fine. What no one else had done, he would do.

For Noxus, he was willing to shoulder everything.

Those who needed to get busy all became busy. But right now, there was still one important problem.

That was Demacia, hanging before Noxus.

They were the greatest difficulty at present.

Sitting in a chair, Swain fell into thought. At this moment, power had only just changed hands, and this was not the time for him to leave the capital.

From the looks of things, he could only proceed step by step.

However, very soon, he discovered the enormous fortune Darkwill had left for him.

That night, his subordinates found a dungeon beneath a fortress.

Swain paced along the corridor, hearing waves of crying and howling in his ears.

He arrived at the dungeon, where numerous soldiers were already keeping strict guard.

Behind the iron doors of the dungeon came hungry roars.

Swain knew these things were called living weapons by Darkwill, and there were quite a few of them.

At the end was an experiment table. It was completely empty.

Red light flickered in Swain's eyes. He vaguely saw traces of someone once conducting experiments on it, and that person appeared to have only just left. At the same time, they had taken away all the materials.

However, they had not had time to take these test subjects away as well.

Soon, news from his subordinates arrived from another side.

They seemed to have found one of the Black Rose's strongholds.

Swain swiftly went there. It was a palace-like building, its walls filled with marks of age.

The palace was maze-like. Swain could tell there seemed to have been signs of a group of Black Rose mages operating here before.

Along the way, he also found some materials they had not had time to take away.

"It seems to be a spell."

Swain examined them while thinking. From the records in the materials, he learned that this was something Darkwill had ordered the Black Rose to do, demanding that they find a way to counter Demacia's petricite Colossus.

From the looks of it, they were only one step away from success. Swain felt that if given a little time, he could complete the rest.

"Did they truly not have time to take it away?"

Swain looked around and saw many hurried footprints.

He did not wait for a representative sent by the Black Rose, but he did wait for their message.

No matter what, this time, the Black Rose had indeed helped him greatly.

At the same time, at another Black Rose stronghold.

LeBlanc pushed open the door and entered the room. She saw Vladimir drinking a glass of red wine expressionlessly, and the wine was as red as blood.

Seeing her enter, Vladimir said, "Do you know what it feels like to suddenly sense several hundred soldiers barging into my territory while I am in the middle of an experiment?"

LeBlanc said, "I understand. I just experienced that."

"That fool you found had his regime overthrown in a matter of hours. His mind was filled with nothing but immortality. If humans could really break through the limits of life so easily, there would not be so many idiots."

Vladimir's tone was flat, but it was still clear that his mood was very poor.

"Behind these few hours, I suspect there was a period of preparation." LeBlanc found a seat and sat down. "Swain chose his timing well. Even I failed to notice that he had already returned. Before today, I still thought he was dead."

"Not only is he not dead, he has now become the new master of Noxus." Vladimir swirled the red wine glass in his hand and sneered. "The Trifarix? Laughable. It is merely an excuse the one who seized power found in order to stabilize his rule."

"No matter how you put it, he did indeed give us a surprise." LeBlanc sighed softly. "At least this recent effort of ours was all wasted."

"Yes. Having someone pick up finished results for free makes me very unhappy."

Cold light flickered in Vladimir's eyes. These days, in order to create more living weapons for Darkwill, he had barely had any time to rest.

In the end, after all that work, someone else had plucked away the results.

Compared to his displeasure, LeBlanc was very open-minded. "It doesn't matter, does it? After all, neither you nor I want to see Demacia keep advancing. Perhaps at this time, allowing Swain to take over temporarily is a fairly good choice. Political transitions are far too normal. You and I have seen them countless times. As long as we continue as we always have, that is enough."

"What if this Swain is even less simple than you imagine? He seems to have made a very great decision and intends to thoroughly change Noxus."

After Vladimir finished speaking, he drank all the wine in his cup in one gulp. Then his red eyes looked at her. "Forgive me for not accompanying you in your game any longer. In my previous life, I spent no small amount of effort stabilizing political power. This time, I do not want to be so tired. So, you and I will each play our own games."

As he spoke, he walked past LeBlanc and arrived at a pool outside the room.

He extended a finger and touched the still surface of the water. A crimson whirlpool bloomed from his fingertip and swiftly covered the entire shallow pool, turning it into a dried-up mud cake. Vladimir lightly jumped into the fountain mouth and fell inside, without making any sound or splashing even a drop of water.

LeBlanc watched him leave and sighed softly. "Swain is indeed less simple than we imagined. Don't forget, the traces of your previous life have not yet been completely erased."

Her voice echoed in the empty room. Whether Vladimir heard her warning or not was unknown.

LeBlanc quietly fell into thought, revealing a look of interest.

"The Trifarix. It sounds rather interesting."

Two more days passed.

The busy armies moving back and forth through the city streets gradually lessened.

Everything seemed to have returned to its former appearance. Darkwill's death had only splashed a small ripple among the common people. Perhaps people were still discussing it, but they had already treated it as history.

They were now already used to the name of the city's new master.

Trifarix, Swain.

In truth, the shift in power was not small. Because of the Trifarix, many original policies were cut or revised.

The positions at the center of power were also reshuffled.

The first batch of council members were personally chosen by Swain, and all of them were quite capable.

Some of the original ministers were assigned elsewhere, while some remained. In short, the influence was significant.

Just as it seemed everything was about to calm down, another heavy piece of news suddenly smashed down.

General Darius had returned!

He was a tall man with a face as firm as iron, clad in heavy armor, and radiating a powerful aura.

He brought his elite troops and entered the capital all the way without anyone daring to stop him.

Many people could not help becoming highly tense once more.

Darius, a man who had already become a living legend.

He had started as a mere soldier and climbed all the way to become the Hand of Noxus, admired by countless people. This point alone was enough to prove his formidable strength.

But this was not the most important part. The most important part was that Darius had been promoted by Darkwill.

Many people felt that he had returned two days too late. If he had returned two days earlier, then the outcome might not have been what it was now.

One had to know that even the title "Hand of Noxus" had been personally bestowed upon Darius by Darkwill.

Many people felt that Darius would inevitably avenge Darkwill.

Friction would inevitably arise between the two legendary generals.

The situation in the capital became tense all at once, and countless people waited for the result.

Who would win?

Yet very soon, a piece of unexpected news shocked everyone.

Swain publicly announced the representative list of the Trifarix. There were three names.

Darius, Katarina, and Swain.

The three would serve as the council's most influential representatives, jointly sharing Noxus's political power.

Many people were dumbstruck. They had not expected that not only had those two not fought, they had actually joined forces.

But in the eyes of even more people, this outcome was a good thing.

After all, only the union of two legendary generals could lead Noxus toward a better future.

They also inquired about Katarina and discovered that she was born into House Du Couteau, likewise the daughter of a legendary general, and was also now the leader of the Assassin's Guild.

She had provided enormous help to Swain in overthrowing Darkwill's rule this time.

If not for the assassins she sent eliminating Darkwill's hidden forces, as well as collecting intelligence from many sides and concealing news, Swain probably would not have had such an easy time.

With them present, although the Trifarix had only just been established, it had already allowed many people to see the signs of flourishing growth.

At this moment, inside the newly established Trifarix council hall, the council members had already gathered to discuss matters together.

Their gazes first fell on Swain in the center, then glanced at Katarina. Only then did their eyes slowly move to the man who sat there as solidly as a mountain, extremely steady.

His face was like steel, his features sharply defined, and his gaze was like that of a fierce tiger whose presence commanded awe even without anger. A fresh scar near his left eye made him seem even more difficult to provoke.

His figure was exceptionally tall, two heads taller than Swain in the middle.

His arms were extremely thick, his muscles powerful, making people feel as though he could strangle a wild bull to death with his bare hands.

This was Darius.

Ever since the northern campaign, very little news of this man had come back. No one had expected him to return at such a critical moment.

Even less had anyone expected that after returning, he would embrace Swain.

What some people did not know was that Swain and Darius were old acquaintances.

They had known each other in earlier years and had often exchanged letters. Their political views were especially similar.

Darius had respected Swain deeply since long ago. At one point, he felt that Swain was the person he ought to follow.

Both of them were people willing to dedicate everything for the Noxian empire.

Yet he had not expected that upon returning this time, Swain would not only refuse his service, but instead have him join the Trifarix as one of its representatives.

Just like that, the iron triangle of the Trifarix took shape.

At this time, Darius spoke. "I propose establishing the Trifarian Legion. I will personally lead them. This will become Noxus's most loyal and prestigious force. They will serve as the blade of Noxian judgment and purge all injustice."

This proposal quickly received unanimous approval from the council.

No one questioned whether Darius could accomplish it. All of them firmly believed he would surely succeed.

Now, only one problem remained, and that was Demacia.

"I will go. Give me one hundred thousand elite soldiers. Even if I cannot repel Demacia, I will not allow them to continue pushing forward."

Darius spoke again at this moment.

For some reason, people felt that after his trip to the north, he seemed to have become even steadier.

Only Darius himself knew what he had experienced in the frozen lands of the north.

Repeated brushes with life and death had made Darius grow a great deal. He knew that there were many powerful enemies in this world and that they could not be underestimated.

Presumably, the Demacia that had made Darkwill suffer so greatly this time was also one such enemy.

"No. I need you to remain in the Immortal Bastion and hold the fort."

Swain's voice sounded, causing Darius to pause slightly.

Then he saw Swain stand up, his gaze calm as he said, "I will personally go to the border and make contact with the Demacian army. This will be a war destined to have no result, so I hope all of you will support my next decision."

"Noxus has a long road ahead. In the distance, there exists an even more severe threat, so we cannot invest more casualties."

Swain's profound gaze seemed to look into the distance, toward a land filled with the unknown.

Having returned from death, he had seen through many of the world's secrets.

Precisely because of that, he had also faintly foreseen a disaster that might occur in the future.

That disaster would destroy everything. When that time came, the struggle between Demacia and Noxus would become utterly meaningless.

"No. The council has only just been established. We need you here to hold things together."

"That's right. How can you go find Demacia at a time like this?"

"It's too dangerous. I do not agree."

The council members stood up one after another at this moment, expressing their disagreement.

Darius thought the same, but he looked at Swain and knew this man must have his own thoughts.

So he chose to remain silent.

"My mind is made up. This time, I must personally go." Swain looked at the people opposing him. "If something happens to me at the border, the council still has all of you."

Just then, Katarina, who had been watching for a long time, suddenly said, "I'll go with you."

Swain looked at her and did not refuse. "Good."
