Hayato and Hayaru looked at each other for a brief moment. The scientist was standing still, waiting for the twins to make a move.
"Okay... Hayaru sighed L-let's try making the electrical invisible sword we attempted yesterday,Hayato," Hayaru said as he closed his eyes and started to imagine his invisible sword. Hayato waited patiently as the scientist looked fine with the waiting, but Hayaru felt fear for the first time since the start of this day. Why is the scientist looking at us like that? He's distracting... and Scary. Hayaru glanced at the scientist, then immediately looked away when he noticed he was taking longer than expected.
Hayaru finally swung his invisible sword; from their perspective, they only saw Hayaru holding nothing. Zeka looked at him when he saw him gripping the air tightly; he tilted his head when he saw his arm actually gripping. He was gripping his sword so tightly that he looked like he was gripping air itself... Zeka thought quietly as he took a step closer to take a better look.
Hayaru signaled to Hayato to do his move. Hayato watched his brother's grip, guessing at the shape of the blade before wrapping his own hand around it — thin, almost razor-like beneath his fingers. It wasn't hard enough to be painful, but enough to notice it. He then pointed with his free hand at his grip to transfer the electricity to Hayaru's sword. The electric wave made a little progress to the tip of Hayaru's invisible sword, and the shock started growing slowly through the sword, until it reached the handle where Hayaru was holding it. The sword was invisible, but the electricity was completely visible.
The scientist didn't give a reaction, but he had a thought inside his mind, something disturbing him from what he just witnessed; it felt wrong to him yet incredible.
Hayaru dropped the sword, and it immediately lost its weight when he dropped it, and the electricity Hayato and Hayaru made was gone. The scientist looked at them with his blurry face. I can't see his face details; how can I say that we impressed him at all? Hayaru asked himself as he looked at the scientist, turning away toward Liora as if signaling that they passed the test.
The scientist looked at Liora for a moment, noticing something wrong with her since the start of the trial. "You, do something with that power you got; I expect something." The scientist said as Liora looked around her, searching for a hint. And she immediately had a risky idea.
She made the water cube move, which she had tested once with Zeka and Genseki; both of the boys immediately noticed it but didn't interrupt her, but they also had a bad feeling about it. The scientist was trapped in the middle, and the water this time was flowing faster than it had before. He noticed his laboratory clothes got wet all over his legs. He didn't react, though, and waded out through the fast-flowing water. Liora felt a small sting when he tried to casually walk out, and the water immediately got stronger than before, trying to stop him with force. The scientist did stop when the water got stronger. Liora's eyes immediately lit up when she realized she might do something, just to see him walking again as if nothing had happened.
Liora stepped back when the scientist approached her, and she fell to the ground. The scientist was watching her from above. He's so tall... I'm... Scared. Liora looked at him with fear, thinking she could get punished for her risky move. But the scientist looked at her for a longer beat. It was a warning, as he whispered. "Water doesn't scare something that's already drowned more times than you've been alive." No one heard him except for Liora, who couldn't understand a word from his mouth. She was trembling in fear as the scientist finally turned away. Liora hit her head on the thick layer of the snow, not able to notice the coldness of the snow from how fearful she was.
Liora closed her eyes for a moment, trying to make the uncontrolled breaths calm down. When she opened her eyes, she found a cat, her old cat from her house; she looked at it for a moment, thinking it was a dream. Tears slowly fell from her eyes when she thought it was real.
"Where have you been all this time... You know you are the... only..." She said as she reached the cheeks of the cat.
. . .
Zeka coughed as low as possible so Liora could notice it. Liora finally realized she was holding Zeka's face. She didn't push him away immediately; she thought she was still seeing her cat. This is an illusion... right? Or am I actually... holding... Zeka? She thought and immediately realized it was actually Zeka, her face flushed when she noticed what she was doing. She pushed him away aggressively, trying to hide her face in the snow. Hoping that the earth could gobble her up from the embarrassment.
She sat up as she looked at Zeka's face. He was confused, but inside his body, he had a weird feeling that kept distracting him. What is this weird feeling... I never felt this kind of feeling before, and I can't describe it... Zeka thought as he stood up. He looked at the scientist who was already returning inside, another signal that this day finally reached an end. Zeka looked back at Liora, who was still lost. He reached out his hand to offer a hand as she looked at his hand with frustration; Zeka was the one who was offering a hand.
She took his hand aggressively enough to make him lose balance but not enough to make him fall. Liora looked at the sky and noticed it was getting dark; she took it as an excuse to run and hide inside the laboratory so she could face him when she was actually ready.
The rest of the kids were staring at Zeka as if he had done something wrong.
"What?" Zeka spoke as the group looked away when he asked the question; all of them returned to the laboratory, leaving Zeka behind in the dark, with no moon in the sky.
He looked behind him and noticed someone was wandering around; he was holding something, but Zeka didn't see him clearly. He stood there for a moment, trying to figure out what or who that was, but when Genseki interrupted the moment, Zeka's attention was back as he looked behind him to see who. He saw Genseki and immediately looked back at the dark woods where that figure was standing; it was gone.
Zeka shook his head, thinking it was just a hallucination as he turned back inside the lab.
Four hours later...
Everyone was sleeping except for both Liora and Zeka. Liora's mind was still at the moment where she held Zeka's face; meanwhile, Zeka's mind was about that thing from the woods.
It was tall... very tall... actually. Zeka thought quietly. He turned from one side to the other and noticed the door was being opened. It was the scientist. It was unusual to see the scientist checking on them, especially at this time.
"Liora, and experiment number one thousand and nine."
The scientist called as Zeka and Liora immediately sat up. What is going on... are we gonna do something in this hour? Both of them thought at the same time as they stood up and followed the scientist. The door closed behind them as they passed, and they continued.
