Chapter 237 - The Little Match Girl

Kiana's pupils trembled violently. She had only answered a single summon, yet she actually got to see Himeko-sensei again.

A mist formed in her eyes.

"Um… miss, do we know each other?"

"…Huh?"

Kiana was stunned. Why didn't Himeko recognize her? Could it be amnesia?

"Himeko-sensei, it's me—your student, Kiana!"

She rushed forward and hugged Himeko tightly, leaving the latter completely confused.

Student? She didn't recall having one.

"Kiana, calm down. She's not the Himeko you know."

A familiar voice spoke again.

Kiana turned around.

"Mr. Welt!"

"…You're really Mr. Welt, right?"

"I am."

Hearing that, Kiana's eyes lit up with excitement.

"Mr. Welt, where have you been? Why didn't you come home? Joyce asks every day where his dad went!"

"…Uh…"

In an instant, Welt felt countless gazes stabbing into him.

Stelle whispered, "Wow… Uncle Yang just abandoned his wife and child?"

"…Doesn't seem like it."

March 7th frowned. Welt didn't seem like that kind of person.

"Mr. Welt?"

Bronya looked shocked. Welt had always seemed calm, mature, and reliable… but now he looked suspiciously like a deadbeat.

"Oh! Bronya!"

Spotting another familiar face, Kiana brightened, then scanned the crowd.

Her gaze eventually landed on Silver Wolf.

"…A mini version of Bronya?"

Then she shifted again.

"Bishop Otto? Didn't you die?"

"…Miss Kiana, I am Luocha. I'm not someone you know."

"Oh… oh."

Kiana nodded stiffly, completely overwhelmed. There were just too many familiar faces.

Not just Bronya—even Raven was here. Though she didn't know what name she went by in this world.

And that Seele… why did she feel so different? Much more assertive than the one she knew.

"Alright, alright."

Seeing this could go on forever, Valerius clapped his hands.

"Mr. Welt, please explain things to Kiana."

"Understood."

Welt nodded. Among everyone present, he was the only one Kiana truly knew.

Besides, he also wanted to hear what had happened after he left.

So he led Kiana aside.

Once they were gone, Valerius turned to Alhaitham and Klee, who had been waiting.

"You two—who's next?"

"Let Klee go first."

Alhaitham spread his hands. Klee had clearly been eager this whole time.

"Alright, Klee, come on up."

Valerius was curious too—just what would Klee draw this time?

"Mm!"

Klee stepped forward confidently, dropped all her coins into the machine, and pulled the lever.

"Whoosh!"

A golden light burst forth, illuminating the entire hall.

"A jackpot! That's a jackpot!"

"Another golden pull!"

"As expected of Klee…"

Everyone could only sigh in admiration. Her luck was simply unmatched.

As the light faded, a glowing orb floated in the air.

"…Huh. That's an odd skill."

Valerius's expression turned strange.

It was strong… yet also weak.

"Valerius哥哥, what is it?"

That one "哥哥" melted his heart instantly. He quickly handed the orb to Klee.

"This is called The Little Match Girl."

"With this skill, you can sell matches."

"…Ah~~~~"

Klee's face fell.

Selling matches? What use was that? There was no combat value at all!

"Don't worry, I'm not done."

"As long as you sell enough matches, you'll evolve into The Little Bomb Girl. Then, you can sell bombs. Of course, you can use them yourself too."

"Bombs?!"

Klee's eyes lit up instantly.

She loved bombs.

"Still not done."

Valerius continued calmly.

"After selling enough bombs, you'll evolve again—into The Little Nuclear Girl. Same effect as before."

"…Pfft—!"

Everyone nearly spat blood.

What kind of skill was this?!

Selling nuclear weapons?!

"Jean… you'd better keep a close eye on Klee."

Lisa felt a chill run down her spine. After interacting with the Star Rail players, she had learned what a "nuclear bomb" was.

If that thing went off… Mondstadt would be gone.

"I… I know…"

Jean looked like she was about to cry.

What kind of ability was this?!

A wave of dread washed over her.

"Listen up—no one is allowed to buy Klee's matches!"

They couldn't risk it.

As long as no one bought them, Klee's destructive power could still be contained.

But if she evolved…

They were all finished.

"Relax. Klee knows what she's doing."

Albedo stepped in to defend her.

What were they so afraid of? Their Klee wasn't some reckless child.

Meanwhile, after absorbing the ability, Klee skipped back to the Mondstadt group and took out a small box of matches.

"Um… would anyone like to buy matches?"

Albedo: "..."

Klee… please stop embarrassing me.

"…No thanks."

"I can't afford it."

Diluc shook his head like a rattle drum.

"Hehe~ Klee, I'll buy! How much?"

Sparkle instantly popped up beside her.

"Hey! Stay away!"

The Mondstadt group quickly blocked her.

This woman was pure chaos—letting her near Klee was a disaster waiting to happen.

"Why are you stopping her from doing business? Honestly."

Sparkle pouted, unable to get closer, but she winked at Klee.

"Klee, remember—if no one buys, come find me."

"Okay!"

Klee nodded.

Half of Mondstadt felt their hearts sink.

"…Actually, I could buy some as well."

At that moment, Ningguang stepped forward calmly.

"Miss Ningguang, please don't make things worse."

Jean felt like crying.

Wasn't Sparkle enough already? Why add another schemer?

"Acting Grand Master Jean, Klee's goods are valuable. Nuclear weapons can be purchased and stockpiled."

"Besides… Klee isn't an irresponsible child. You should trust her more."

The logic made sense.

But Jean still didn't trust Ningguang.

She was far too shrewd.

And if something went wrong…

Mondstadt would be the one to suffer.

Of course she wouldn't care.
