Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Alec’s True Intentions

Alec watched everything unfold from the shadows, his gaze silent and calculating. But, unlike Ronald and Nervan, Alec's heart was not filled with animosity.

Actually, he had his own secret:

He was already heavily involved with Lancy.

They had met months ago in an accident that turned into something more. In a society full of falsehoods, betrayals, and relentless manipulation, Lancy was Alec's only way out. And he was hers.

However, for the time being, their link had to remain hidden. The world that Marrie ruled was too chaotic. Alec realized that revealing their relationship may transform Lancy into a pawn, which he would never accept.

He tightened his jaw. He'd made his decision: he'd support Marrie from the shadows, even if it cost him everything.

Ronald's Secret Betrayal

Not everyone around Marrie was faithful.

Ronald, who had always appeared to be a silent admirer, had linked himself with Nervan.

Ronald provided Nervan with critical information behind Marrie's back, including her movements, allies, and minor flaws. He covered his bitterness well, burying it beneath layers of smiles and fake loyalty.

But Ronald wasn't satisfied with minor betrayals anymore.

He was planning something bigger. Something that would destroy both Marrie and Evan permanently.

And he would not stop until Marrie collapsed at his feet.

A Silent Moment with Emi

Emi, Evan's mother, sat tending to her flowers in a tranquil, sun-drenched room, away from the chaos of the city. A gentle woman with delicate hands and perceptive eyes, sensed a storm rising around her son.

When Marrie arrived to visit, Emi said nothing about Evan, Nervan, or the games they were playing.

Instead, she gave Marrie a cup of tea and a sweet smile.

"You're stronger than you think," Emi remarked calmly, placing the cup in front of her. "You always have been."

Marrie said nothing. But her grasp on the cup tightened, and her body became hard from the weight of everything she carried.

Even in this brief, peaceful time, she realized the wars she would have to fight were only beginning.

Marrie - Ruthless, Unbreakable, Fearless

Despite Ronald's betrayal, Nervan's games, Evan's feelings, Alec's secrets, and the impending chaos Marrie remained unconcerned.

That evening, she looked in the mirror. Her mirror revealed neither weakness nor fear.

It depicted a fierce, unwavering queen who was prepared to face anything. Her voice was firm and she muttered to herself, "Let them come. Let them all arrive. I will destroy them with a smile."

The wars were approaching. Betrayals would hurt. The love she hid deep inside may growl at her heart.

But Marrie was prepared. And this time, the entire world would fear her.

Alec and Lancy — A Secret No More

The night was supposed to be relaxed, a small private gathering for Marrie's close friends.

But secrets have a way of sneaking through holes.

When Alec's hand lingered for too long on Lancy's waist, Marrie's acute eyes noticed it right away.

For a split second, the entire room froze. Marrie smirked as she approached them.

"Well, well…" Marrie drawled, stirring the wine in her glass. "Looks like my dear Lancy isn't as innocent as she pretends to be."

Lancy flushed pink, and Alec straightened, caught off guard.

Marrie whispered, "Don't worry, sweet Lancy. Your secret is secure for now. Just remember, I enjoy surprises."

Her teasing was light, almost playful, yet her eyes radiated unsaid strength.

Nobody could hide secrets from Marrie for long.

Ronald and Nervan's Cozy Trap

Meanwhile, in the shadows of Marrie's supremacy, Ronald and Nervan planned their first official strike.

Their idea was simple and dangerous:

Get closer to Marrie. Break through her walls with affection. Destroy her from within.

Nervan discovered Marrie alone on the rooftop terrace that night, the city lights flickering like dying stars behind her, disguised as a party.

He approached cautiously, with a sweet, almost innocent smile. "You always look the most beautiful when you're plotting someon''s downfall," he whispered, daring to trace his fingers through her hair.

Marrie did not move away.

She knew exactly what was going on. She suspected Ronald's eyes were hidden someplace in the darkness, watching. She knew Nervan's words were laced with poison.

But she still grinned. A hazardous and thrilling smile.

"You think you're leading this dance, Nervan?" she wondered, turning her head slightly as the night thickened around them. "Poor boy. You have no idea who you are playing with."

Marrie's Dangerous Game - The Night of Fire

Instead of shoving him away, Marrie moved closer. Their bodies were virtually touching. The air was filled with both artificial stress and real danger.

Nervan leaned in, believing he had won the moment. Marrie's reaction was swift, ruthless, and cruel.

She grabbed him by the collar, dragging him inches from her face, her voice like a whip of ice and fire. "You forgot one thing, Nervan," she said softly, venom sweet on her tongue. "I decide when to burn. Not you."

She then shoved him backward with such force that he stumbled into the railing.

The next few minutes were chaotic, with a literal fire exploding on the terrace as Marrie, without hesitation, burned the symbolic banners of union that Ronald and Nervan had planted, burning them to ashes.

The crowd inside gasped, gazing through the windows as the flames raged behind Marrie, painting her form in gold and fury. Marrie stood motionless, her gaze locked with Nervan's across the fire.

Unshaken. Untouchable. Unforgiving.

The "night of fire" had officially started.

Evan's Misunderstanding — Broken Trust

From across the room, Evan could only see bits of what happened:

Marrie is standing too near to Nervan. Their heads almost touched. The fire is behind them. Her smile was mysterious, and enigmatic.

He wasn't aware of Ronald's trap. He didn't notice Marrie's prepared action. He just witnessed betrayal.

Evan's pain pierced through him like a razor. "After everything… she still chose him?" he thought, his carefully crafted defenses falling in an instant.

He turned away before Marrie could notice him. Before she could explain. Before he could inquire.

The misconception was established. And this time, Evan's love may not be enough to get through it.
