Chapter 194 - The Battle Continues, Aiden vs. Drake!

As a green, dragonfly-like Pokémon descended onto the battlefield, Aiden calmly recalled Glaceon and took out another Poké Ball.

Sylveon.

Dragon-types were best handled by Sylveon.

Drake's Flygon was Level 77—only one level higher than Sylveon. With the natural advantage of typing, this matchup could very well allow Sylveon to carve through Drake's core team.

Originally, Glaceon had been meant to eliminate two of Drake's main forces. Unfortunately, the unexpected appearance of Dragalge and its Toxic had forced Aiden to adjust his plans.

"Flygon—Sandstorm!"

With a powerful beat of its wings, Flygon summoned a raging storm. A spiraling torrent of sand swept across the battlefield toward Sylveon.

"Sylveon—Misty Terrain!"

Soft pink energy spread beneath Sylveon's feet, enveloping the field in shimmering fairy light. Waves of Fairy-type energy pulsed outward.

Flygon grew visibly restless.

As the sandstorm surged forward, Sylveon suddenly vanished underground—Dig.

When the storm subsided, only a hollow tunnel remained.

"Flygon! Dragon Breath into the tunnel!"

A clever response.

Aiden's lips curved slightly.

"Show them your true power, Sylveon. Face it head-on!"

The audience gasped.

As Dragon Breath erupted toward the tunnel's opening, Sylveon burst out—

And charged straight into the attack.

The violet draconic flames engulfed her—

Yet she continued forward unharmed.

Drake's eyes widened.

"What—how is that possible?!"

"There's nothing impossible about it," Aiden replied calmly. "Sylveon is Fairy-type. Dragon-type moves are completely ineffective."

Drake. Wallace. Steven.

All three froze momentarily.

Fairy-type?

A new attribute?

As high-ranking League figures, how could they not know?

Yet Sylveon was indeed unlike anything they had encountered before.

Perhaps the world still held countless undiscovered species and elemental forces.

Drake let out a rough chuckle. "Fairy-type, huh? If those become common someday, this old Dragon master might truly become obsolete."

"Flygon—Hyper Beam!"

"Too late. Sylveon—Moonblast!"

Before Flygon could complete its charge, a massive radiant moon formed above Sylveon.

Pink energy cascaded downward.

Moonblast struck Flygon squarely.

With a pained cry, Flygon plummeted from the sky. Hyper Beam dissipated mid-charge.

"Finish it—Dazzling Gleam!"

Amplified by Misty Terrain, the next wave of Fairy energy detonated with devastating force.

Flygon collapsed.

"Ding! Sylveon has defeated Flygon. Gained 6,580 experience points. Level increased. Current level: Lv77!"

Drake frowned slightly.

This Sylveon was a nightmare for Dragon specialists.

"Next—Altaria!"

Another Dragon/Flying-type descended gracefully.

Though infamous for eventually gaining Fairy typing through Mega Evolution—

Right now, it was still a Dragon.

"Altaria—Air Slash!"

Since Dragon-type moves were useless, Drake switched to Flying-type offense.

"Sylveon—Disarming Voice!"

Blades of wind sliced across Sylveon, but she sang back—an enchanting melody laced with Fairy energy.

Altaria's eyes flickered pink.

The charm took hold.

Confusion and infatuation clouded its mind.

Aiden smiled faintly. "Looks like fortune favors me, Drake."

Drake gritted his teeth, shouting for Altaria to regain focus.

But the hesitation was fatal.

"Sylveon—Moonblast! Draining Kiss! Dazzling Gleam—continuous!"

Under the influence of infatuation, Altaria became little more than a stationary target.

Fairy energy rained down relentlessly.

Moments later, Altaria fell from the sky.

"Altaria is unable to battle! Sylveon wins! Since Elite Four Drake has lost three Pokémon, we will now enter a ten-minute intermission!"

The referee could barely hide his satisfaction.

The fiery old captain had been thoroughly suppressed.

Drake recalled Altaria and turned toward the rest area, shaking his head.

"You've grown too fast, boy. Even without your Legendaries, I'm no longer your match."

Aiden met his gaze calmly.

Drake wasn't angry.

He was reflective.

Perhaps—

It truly was time for the older generation to step aside.

Three Pokémon remained.

Defeat Drake—

And the Champion's throne would be within reach.
