The laughter continued for a while, but it gradually became lighter as the students began settling down.
Professor Kent finally leaned back in his foldable chair, folded his arms across his chest, and crossed one leg over the other.
"Alright, alright…"
He looked across the class with a faintly amused expression.
"We've had enough time reminiscing about Miss Vera Ashenlocke's very own love episode."
He pointed toward a row where several boys were sitting cross-legged on their throw pillows.
"Now, that's a lesson for you boys. Always wash your hands before you touch a Miss Vera."
Kent said it in a teasing tone.
The class immediately burst into laughter again.
Vera looked toward Professor Kent with a plain expression.
"Professor, you're making it sound like I'm some kind of spectacle."
She paused, her dull black eyes remaining on him.
"It's offensive."
Professor Kent's expression remained calm.
"I'm sorry if it came out that way."
