Eight years had passed. Cedric was officially a Knight. Liora had turned fifteen, and Alric had turned twelve. Leon, "Hey uncle Julian, when do I start training like my siblings?" Leon was the only kid to refer Julian as an uncle, other kids just called him by his name. Maybe it was because Julian was the only one who ever paid attention to him, Leofric never talked to him and Leon started to think of his father as some great unreachable man. He always wondered what he had to do to prove himself to be acknowledged by his father like his siblings. "Soon young master, soon," said Julian with a faint voice. Julian had grown pretty old, losing a lot of stamina and strength. "Uncle, I don't want to read this anymore, can you bring me another book?" He left to get him a book. Leon, while waiting, saw his sister training with his father in the open grounds. "Hey, sister Liora, here!" Liora turned her head and tried to wave, "Stop, do you not want to be a knight, take your training seriously, ignore him," said Leofric. "But- I apologize father." Only Liora and Alric ever talked to Leon, Cedric hated him for the same reason as his father did.
"Here you go young master, I brought this book, it's about a historical war, which forged our and many other kingdoms." "What? I don't want to read this, can you bring me something else?" "But young master, it is very important for you to know about this, every person, including your siblings knows about this, it's very important." "Can you just explain it to me, I don't really like history uncle," said Leon. "But young ma-" sigh "Fine, let's go for a stroll while I tell you."
"It was the year of the lion XII, back then, the mainland was divided into two continents, both having no idea about each other's co-existence. The continent of Svalor, as it called itself, wanted to make peace with the other continent when they discovered each other, the continent of Vaeron agreed, but had different plans.
Vaeron, after a year of peace, suddenly attacked the harbor of the city of Davren, with knights, beasts, outlaws, and bandits, equipped with swords, machetes, or any kind of weapon. They didn't just attack, they massacred the city, and stole resources and did many other things to the citizens, some I couldn't even tell you young master. One city after another was demolished. The king of Svaron decided to fight backs, sending knights, mages, and many more to stop them and it worked for a while, until..." "Until what?!" "Until the people of Vaeron summoned monsters, or magic beasts as you could call them. No one knew how they did it, but they did, and it was a horror. One magic beast was capable to take out more than fifty knights, it looked like they had no weakness. Svalor lost about half of its land and resources, and was still being attacked. The king of Vaeron, was a greedy man, he wanted everything. The citizens, the knights who had lost and survived were made slaves. It truly was a one sided war. No man, No mage, and No being could fight with hope of survival anymore. It looked like they had lost. But, one day, a knight with his squad, went to the city of Davren and killed the magical beasts easily. The knight had figured out its weakness, it was their core on the right side of their chest. If it was destroyed, the beast disappeared with no trace of existence. They spread this news, giving the continent one thing they needed, 'hope'."
"So, what happened?" asked Leon with a bit a excitement. "They fought back, killing magic beasts and the knights of Vaeron. It was a four year long battle, and it all came down to the last battle in the city of Camber, a city previously belonging to Vaeron, taken over by Svalor. Magic beasts ceased to exist, and the only thing holding the fort of Camber was the head knight of Vaeron, she was the strongest knight, not knowing this, knights of Svalor charged and died, but not in vain as it tired her. The knight, who had first given hope to Svalor was now their last, as ordinary warriors stood no chance. He held his sword, and charged at her, she retaliated, it was a back and forth until the exhaustion took over the head knight as she fell down on her knees, getting beheaded by the knight of Svalor. The war was over, and Svalor took over Vaeron as its own territory. It prisoned the knights who were a part of this war, and gave the innocent citizens of Vaeron a new life in the continent of Svalor, renaming itself to the continent of Svaron." "What happened to the knight?" asked Leon. "He was named a hero, but no one knows what happened to him or his squad after that. They say that the story of The Great War of Svaron isn't completely true, but no one knows what exactly happened." Julian went on his duty as Leon walked into his room.
"Stop." A voice from distance called. "Who-" "It's me," as Cedric walks in. "You are leaving tomorrow, right older brother?" "Don't call me that." "So why are you here?" asked Leon. "Before I leave, I wanted to talk to you. .. Don't- stop thinking about being a knight like your siblings." "But why? I'm a part of this family of nobility." "No, you are not, don't ever think you are a part of this family." "All you have done is make people sad." "I will be a knight too, no matter wh-" Looking at the Leon, made Cedric's eyes widen in anger, clenching his jaw, he knew it wasn't Leon's fault but his hatred for him, thinking about his mother who he loved so much, he just got angrier as he frowned at Leon. "What did i even do-", saying this made Cedric push Leon onto the floor, making his head injured. "You are nothing, no one even considers you as a part of this family...Father has ordered me to tell you this, that you will not be getting knight training or status of a Leodrick warrior, ever." "He told me to tell you as he didn't want to talk to you." "But I didn't do anything, so why!?" "Just shut up, and and listen to what you are told. You are just a stupid brat, I don't even know why father has not kicked you out in the streets yet." Saying this, he slammed the door and went away. Leon cried, alone, in his bed, with no one telling him why he was being treated like a nobody.
In the morning, he went down to ask uncle Julian what he had ever done. Julian never answered and told Leon to not mind Cedric's words. As he walked back, a guard, told Leon to stop. "Why did you stop me?" asked Leon. "I know why Master Cedric and his Lord act like this towards you." "Why?!" Leon asked with a loud voice. "Well, it's something that happened during your birth."
