After the great battle, the atmosphere inside the hidden meteorite was relaxed and lively.
Wine flowed freely.
Laughter echoed through the lounge cabin as the Black Yuan Team drank without restraint, the tension accumulated from life-and-death combat finally released. For warriors who lived on the edge of extinction, such moments of calm were rare—and precious.
After several rounds of drinking, Captain Black Yuan finally raised his hand, signaling everyone to quiet down.
"This encounter battle," he said slowly, his gaze sweeping across the team, "was handled exceptionally well by everyone."
His tone was steady, carrying the authority of long years on the battlefield.
"Facing an ambush, no one panicked. Formation was maintained, advance and retreat were orderly. Especially Ao Tun and Tie Zhu—you held back two enemy World Lords at the critical moment, then each completed a kill."
Ao Tun smiled faintly, while Tie Zhu scratched his head with a simple grin.
Black Yuan paused, then his expression shifted, turning distinctly brighter.
"But what made this battle truly satisfying…" He turned his gaze toward Bai Yue. "Was that we gained a powerful new teammate."
"Walker."
"Walker!"
The team members all looked toward Bai Yue, smiles spreading across their faces.
On the Outside Territory Battlefield, where danger lurked everywhere and death could strike without warning, having a reliable and overwhelmingly strong teammate was not just comforting—it was a matter of survival.
As the atmosphere warmed again, Tie Zhu suddenly spoke up.
"Walker," he asked casually, "what's your military merit quota?"
The moment the words left his mouth, the surrounding conversations quieted slightly.
"Military merit quota?" Bai Yue raised an eyebrow.
Every soldier on the Outside Territory Battlefield had one.
It was the minimum amount of military merit that had to be accumulated before a warrior gained freedom of choice.
For example, a newly arrived World Lord typically had a quota of one million military merit. Upon reaching that threshold, they could choose to retire, exchange merit for treasures, continue fighting, or even operate independently.
Before reaching that quota, however, they were required to strictly obey military orders.
"Yes," Tie Zhu nodded. "What's yours?"
"I bet it's high."
"Definitely not low."
The team members leaned back on the sofas, their gazes fixed on Bai Yue with curiosity.
Bai Yue answered calmly, as though stating something entirely ordinary.
"One billion."
The room fell silent.
"One… billion?" Tie Zhu repeated slowly.
For a moment, no one spoke.
Black Yuan was the first to break the silence.
"As expected," he said with a sigh. "The stronger you are, the more the army expects from you."
He continued, his voice carrying the weight of experience.
"When a new recruit joins the Outside Territory Battlefield, the military merit quota assigned to them is not random. It directly reflects the Virtual Universe System's evaluation of their strength."
"The authority titles—Ordinary World Lord, Elite World Lord, Sector Lord War General—those are just rough classifications. Very rough."
"All World Lords have a minimum quota of one million, and a maximum of one billion."
"Ordinary World Lords usually fall between one and ten million."
"Elite World Lords are typically between ten million and one hundred million."
"And Sector Lord War Generals…" Black Yuan looked at Bai Yue. "Range from one hundred million to one billion."
Lan Lin's expression grew solemn.
"A quota of one billion," she said quietly, "means the system judges you to possess combat power not inferior to an ordinary Immortal God."
The room fell silent again.
Then several team members nodded slowly.
After recalling how Bai Yue had personally suppressed an Undying, annihilated multiple Monster Race World Lords, and decisively turned the tide of battle, the conclusion felt… inevitable.
Bai Yue, meanwhile, inwardly curled his lip.
One billion?
Honestly, he didn't think it was that much.
This quota was purely the army's requirement, generated by the Virtual Universe System's standardized evaluation. Every World Lord fell within that one-million-to-one-billion range, and given his displayed strength, the system had simply assigned him the maximum.
But that wasn't the true pressure.
What truly weighed on Bai Yue was the Virtual Universe Corporation's requirement for his personal life-and-death training.
Twenty trillion military merit.
That was the number.
Only after accumulating 20 trillion military merit would he be allowed to leave the Outside Territory Battlefield.
That was Bai Yue's real trial.
One requirement came from the army.
The other came from the Virtual Universe Corporation.
One was one billion.
The other was twenty trillion.
Compared to that, one billion really didn't feel impressive at all.
The Virtual Universe Corporation's expectations for Primitive Mystical Region World Lords were notoriously brutal. Bai Yue had passed the Universe Rank Tongtian Mountain, obtained one hundred million points, was a direct disciple of Primordial Chaos City Lord, and had revealed his ability to possess avatars.
Given all that, it was only natural that the requirements placed upon him were the highest among all Primitive Mystical Region World Lords.
The twenty-trillion quota had not been assigned lightly.
First, he needed to reach one billion military merit to gain operational freedom—after which he could act independently and accumulate merit far more efficiently.
In the previous battle alone, he had already earned 231 million military merit.
He was confident that the rest would come quickly.
Over the next two months, the Black Yuan Team remained active along the outer reaches of the Blood River Star System, relentlessly hunting Monster Race elite squads.
As time passed, the atmosphere grew increasingly tense.
Both the Human Race and Monster Race deployed more and more troops into the region. The density of high-level combatants rose sharply. Even traces of the Insect Race and Automaton Race began to appear.
The wind before the storm.
A large-scale conflict was clearly approaching.
What Bai Yue did not know was that all of this was connected to him.
After the annihilation of the Fierce Tiger Team, Bai Yue's combat information spread rapidly throughout the Blood River Star System, then flowed back to the Monster Race.
Although the Monster Race's intelligence transmission was slower than humanity's, it was still enough to draw attention.
Soon, an order was issued by a major figure of the Monster Race:
Eliminate Bai Yue.
The order was quietly circulated among Monster Race powerhouses near the Blood River Star System—and, intentionally or otherwise, leaked to the other two major races.
That was why so many strong beings were converging on this region.
At the edge of the Blood River Star System, aboard a colossal Monster Race battleship, hundreds of Undying gathered.
The hall was vast, yet even so, many could not enter with their true bodies. Some instead controlled mechanical puppets using their souls.
Low voices echoed through the hall as they exchanged intelligence.
"Why were we summoned this time?" asked an Undying of the Bloodthirsty Bat Race.
"Could it be a full-scale offensive?" another speculated. "To seize the Blood River Star System?"
"I know a little," one Undying said mysteriously, drawing annoyed looks from the others.
Pressed repeatedly, he finally spoke.
"So many of us… gathered just to deal with a World Lord brat?"
"Must've been that tiger underestimating the enemy—probably got killed by some plant lifeform or Fire God Source Crystal."
The murmurs continued—
Until three figures entered the hall.
The chatter stopped instantly.
"Marquis Jiusha."
"Marquis Meteor."
"Marquis Fankong."
Undyings across the hall rose in greeting.
Standing at the center, Marquis Fankong Astar—with a human upper body and a serpentine lower half—spoke coldly.
"The order comes from Lord Evil Dragon King."
"To kill a Human World Lord."
A chill spread through the hall.
"Our intelligence confirms that this target is active in the Blood River Star System," Fankong Astar continued, snake eyes gleaming with killing intent. "Find him. Kill him. Rewards will be issued by the race."
"Encounter him," Marquis Jiusha added, "and do not engage recklessly. Hold him in place. Call for reinforcements. Do not allow him to escape."
From the way the others deferred, it was clear—
Among the three, Marquis Fankong held the highest status.
Born of a major Monster Race royal lineage, his talent and authority far surpassed the rest.
And now, the hunt had truly begun.
