Chapter 87 - Chapter 87 --Secret Treasure

After leaving the tavern on Jiulong Island, Bai Yue blended naturally into the flow of people along the main street.

Figures of all shapes and sizes passed by—towering giants several dozen meters tall, slender lifeforms barely half a meter in height, mechanical beings with cold metallic shells, and exotic races whose forms defied easy classification. With his current three-meter-tall ape-man body, Bai Yue was entirely unremarkable here.

The buildings lining the street were equally eclectic.

Some were austere stone fortresses, others crystalline towers shimmering with energy patterns, and still others bizarre constructions that seemed grown rather than built. Most of these structures had been formed directly within their owners' Divine Kingdoms before being manifested here.

There was no unified management on Jiulong Island.

This gathering point had formed naturally over countless years. Land ownership was irrelevant—if you found an empty space and didn't occupy an absurdly large area, no one would interfere. Strength and restraint were the only unspoken rules.

Bai Yue casually stepped into a nearby building.

The ground-floor hall was lavishly decorated, illuminated by soft light. Dozens of robotic attendants stood in orderly rows. The owner was absent; instead, the hall projected streams of information—images of treasures, weapons, and rare materials, each accompanied by a clear price.

A humanoid robot shaped like an elven woman approached him and began introducing the items. Only after confirming a purchase would the real object be retrieved from storage.

Bai Yue skimmed through the offerings.

They were all standard goods used by Undying-level beings—nothing rare, nothing exceptional. Without lingering, he left the hall and continued down the street.

As he wandered, he entered several other shops that caught his interest. Most of what he saw were specialties unique to the Wanbao Secret Realm: strangely shaped weapons, hybrid treasures, and items refined through unfamiliar methods.

The Lian Xing Clan's treasure-refining techniques were clearly extraordinary.

Their reputation for turning decay into wonder was no exaggeration. Ordinary metals that could only be forged into third-tier force weapons in the hands of others could be refined into fourth- or even fifth-tier weapons by the Lian Xing Clan. More importantly, their creations often possessed multiple functions.

The azure bead now resting in Bai Yue's palm was a perfect example.

After completing the recognition process, he learned it was called a Yin Po Bead. Once refined, it could protect the soul, blocking soul attacks from peak World Lords. When infused with energy, it could unfold a cold domain spanning ten thousand kilometers—enough to affect Territory Lords and even influence World Lords. It could also be used directly as a psychic weapon.

An all-rounder.

Unfortunately, its level was too low to matter in battles involving Undying beings.

Still, Bai Yue did not regret the purchase. After tossing the Yin Po Bead into his Original Universe, he reflected quietly.

If the four great races truly possessed the Lian Xing Clan's refining secret art, such treasures would be ubiquitous across the Virtual Universe. The scarcity of these items meant one thing—the secret art had not been obtained.

Which suggested that the rumors of the Lian Xing Clan being completely wiped out by the four great races were likely false.

With that thought set aside, Bai Yue continued forward.

After turning a corner, the street suddenly opened into a vast plaza-like structure. The building ahead resembled a mercenary hall, with powerful figures constantly entering and exiting.

His interest was piqued.

Inside, the hall was spacious and noisy. Tables and chairs filled the interior. Thousands of beings sat in small groups, conversing, drinking, or staring at floating projection screens.

Bai Yue walked beneath one of the screens and looked up.

"Mo Lian Team recruiting three Undying Spiritual Gods to hunt alien race squads…"

"Explosive Devour Team recruiting two members to explore ruins—strength prioritized…"

"Temporary alliance forming for deep Storm Sea exploration…"

Most postings were recruitment notices. Some were mission announcements.

Then one projection caught his eye.

An invitation to explore a ruin—suspected to be a treasure-refining site left behind by the Lian Xing Clan.

Bai Yue paused.

The Yin Po Bead he had just acquired surfaced in his thoughts, and curiosity stirred.

"Brother, interested?"

A rough voice sounded nearby.

Bai Yue turned to see a burly figure clad in scale-patterned armor standing behind him. The man's aura was solid and restrained.

"I noticed you lingering here," the man said frankly. "Let's talk over there."

He gestured toward an empty table.

After sitting down, the scaly-armored man spoke again. "Name's Mang Long. What should I call you?"

"You can call me Walker," Bai Yue replied politely.

"Brother Walker, are you interested in Lian Xing Clan relics?"

"A bit," Bai Yue answered honestly. "Their treasures are… different."

Mang Long nodded. "Then how about joining us? Exploring ruins alone is risky. Better to watch each other's backs."

Bai Yue considered briefly.

Even if something unexpected occurred, he was confident in handling it alone. After a moment, he agreed.

They exchanged contact information and set a departure time—half a month later.

Leaving the hall, Bai Yue resumed wandering the island. Whenever he saw something novel, he purchased it without hesitation, adding to his growing collection.

Before long, he had explored the entire gathering area.

Following the local custom, he manifested a small pavilion from his inner world and placed it on an empty plot, establishing a temporary residence on Jiulong Island.

In the days that followed, with time remaining before his rendezvous with Mang Long, Bai Yue toured the island at leisure.

Jiulong Island lay along a major passageway. Countless adventurers had scoured it over the years. Any real treasures had long since been discovered. Bai Yue harbored no illusions.

Instead, he gathered unfamiliar items and materials, tossing them into his Original Universe to accelerate its refinement—minor gains, but steady ones.

During this time, he also noticed that a considerable number of humans lived on the island.

They had formed various small nations, all descendants of adventurers who had settled here countless years ago. Born within the inner Ninth Battlefield, their environment allowed them to reach World Lord rank with ease. Advancing beyond that, however, was exceedingly difficult.

On this day, Bai Yue finished his exploration and arrived at the island's edge.

Residents rarely approached the sea. Not only was the bi bo water lethally cold, but the Storm Sea nurtured terrifying lifeforms. Anything that could survive there was inherently dangerous.

Standing atop the sea cliff, Bai Yue watched the rolling waves and sighed softly.

The world's creation was truly profound.

Waves tens or even hundreds of meters high crashed against the cliffs, spraying icy droplets into the air. With a thought, he enveloped a mass of seawater in world power, suspending it before him.

After observing it carefully, he extended a finger.

The instant he made contact, biting cold surged up his arm, threatening to freeze his internal world. His high genetic level barely suppressed it.

Satisfied, Bai Yue transferred the captured seawater into his Original Universe.

Then he looked out over the boundless ocean.

With a splash, he dove straight into the depths.

According to the Virtual Universe Network, at a depth of one hundred thousand kilometers, the seawater transformed into Ice Soul Water, its coldness escalating sharply. At ten million kilometers, it evolved further into Cold Meng Water, even more terrifying.

Bai Yue descended calmly.

He had come to collect these two rare substances.
