Chapter 331 - Chapter 331 – Shock

BOOM!

A terrifying shockwave erupted within the spatial turbulence.

Fortunately, both Locke and Wordred had complete control over their own power during their exchange. They merely allowed their own forces to collide against each other, preventing the leaking energy from tearing apart the surrounding space within the spatial turbulence.

After all, the location where they were fighting within the spatial turbulence was adjacent to the Netherworld.

Once the aftershocks of their battle tore open spatial cracks and spread into the Netherworld, it would undoubtedly cause enormous destruction there.

And if that happened, it would absolutely provoke the displeasure of the Death Chief Sovereign, who regarded the Netherworld as her private domain.

Whether it was Locke or the Chief Sovereign of Destruction, Wordred, neither of them wished to provoke an enraged Death Chief Sovereign.

As the giant palm collided with the long spear, Locke did not retreat a single step. Although Chief Sovereign Wordred was blasted backward some distance, he had still managed to receive Locke's attack without injury.

"Hahahaha! This is exactly how it should be!"

"Come, Locke! Let us fight again!"

By relying on the technique he had created during this period of time, Wordred had successfully blocked Locke's attack, causing his battle intent to surge explosively.

What was the point of bullying the weak?

Only challenging those stronger than oneself was truly interesting!

The mentality of the Chief Sovereign of Fate, Orloff, who constantly sought to prevent others from becoming stronger, was unbearably dull.

At this moment, Wordred even regretted having cooperated with Orloff in the past to stop Chief Sovereign Locke from refining the intermediate Water Sovereign spark.

If Locke had refined the Water Sovereign spark long ago, then perhaps Locke's strength would have reached a level comparable to his own tens of millions of years earlier.

Wouldn't that have allowed him to enjoy the pleasure of battling Locke tens of millions of years sooner?

Fortunately, although Locke had not refined a Sovereign spark, he had achieved a breakthrough in fused Laws instead. His strength had actually become ten times greater than it would have been after refining a Sovereign spark.

Locke was somewhat surprised that his attack had been blocked by Wordred.

However, he was not overly shocked.

Chief Sovereign Wordred was absolutely one of the super experts in the Coiling Dragon universe who could not be underestimated.

After obtaining the essence blood of the Four Divine Beasts, it had taken him less than ten thousand years to analyze the mysteries behind the Four Divine Beasts fused innate divine ability. Furthermore, he had improved upon it and created a material attack technique not inferior to the fused innate divine ability itself—Chaotic Space-Time.

It was precisely because Wordred had deciphered the fused innate divine ability of the Four Divine Beasts that Orloff had later been able to use magical formations as a foundation to create the strongest technique in the Coiling Dragon universe—Transcending Samsara.

With Wordred's talent, creating techniques capable of amplifying combat power tenfold truly was not difficult.

In the past, Wordred simply had not felt any pressure and had been too lazy to create ultimate techniques.

After all, being a Paragon while possessing a body as durable as a Sovereign artifact, Wordred simply could not imagine there existing anyone stronger than himself.

Well… except for the Death Chief Sovereign.

Even if his own strength might surpass the Death Chief Sovereign's, Wordred still did not particularly want to fight her.

One reason was that Wordred possessed a certain degree of male pride and refused to allow rumors that he was inferior to the Death Chief Sovereign to become reality.

As long as he had never truly fought her, then he could not truly be considered weaker than her.

The second reason was that Wordred had personally witnessed the Death Chief Sovereign's luck. He genuinely suspected that if he ever tried challenging her, a Water Sovereign spark might suddenly fall into her hands, granting her another Sovereign clone and increasing her strength tenfold again.

Afterward, Locke continuously attacked, further proving how much Wordred had improved over these tens of millions of years.

When relying solely on the power of fused Laws, Wordred was actually able to exchange blows evenly with Locke. One could not tell at all that his strength was supposedly ten times weaker than Locke's.

Only when Locke used techniques such as Thousand Mile Heaven-Piercing Palm could he force Wordred backward.

"Earlier, when I told Lilia that I intended to reveal some additional methods during this battle, I even thought I might need to hold back somewhat…"

"I never expected that after merely several tens of millions of years, Wordred would already have grown to this extent."

Shaking his head, Locke stopped attacking Wordred and instead allowed Wordred to close the distance.

Then, when the Sovereign artifact spear in Wordred's hand was about to strike him, Locke slowly raised his hand and casually flicked a finger against the spear.

Bzzzz!

With merely a single finger flick, the power gathered upon Wordred's Sovereign artifact spear was instantly shattered by Locke.

The tremendous force caused the attacking spear to emit violent trembling vibrations.

"T-this… how is this possible?!"

Not only was Wordred, who was fighting Locke directly, shocked by this scene—even the Sovereigns observing the battle from afar within the spatial turbulence were startled.

Sovereign artifacts were weapons used by Sovereigns.

Only in the hands of Sovereigns could Sovereign artifacts fully display their might.

Of course, because Sovereigns could forge their own Sovereign artifacts, the amplification granted by such weapons generally canceled out during battles between Sovereigns.

However, when facing attacks from Sovereign artifacts, Sovereigns still needed to defend or block using Sovereign artifacts of their own.

Previously, Locke had already been able to suppress Wordred using only fused-Law techniques. If Locke were to use a Sovereign artifact, then defeating Wordred just as he had defeated Orloff should not have been difficult at all.

Thus, when Locke ceased attacking and allowed Wordred to approach, everyone assumed Locke was finally going to draw a Sovereign artifact and fight seriously.

But no one had expected that Locke would merely flick a finger and directly shatter Wordred's attack.

Using one's body to directly shatter the attack of a Sovereign artifact…

This was not something the Sovereigns had never witnessed before.

Only Sovereigns whose bodies had reached the level of Sovereign artifacts could achieve such a feat when battling opponents of the same level.

"A… a body as durable as a Sovereign artifact?"

"But how is that possible?"

The Wind Chief Sovereign, Bayer, abruptly contracted his pupils and muttered in disbelief.

The other Sovereigns naturally heard Bayer's words as well.

This also confirmed that they had not seen incorrectly.

Chief Sovereign Locke's body truly had reached the level of a Sovereign artifact.

One had to understand that Bayer himself was a divine beast, the Violet-Eyed Goldwing Roc, yet even his body had not reached the durability of a Sovereign artifact.

And Locke?

All the current Sovereigns present had participated in the second Sovereign gathering.

And that second Sovereign gathering had essentially been Locke's personal stage.

It was during that gathering that the Sovereigns first learned that a god-level expert could become so powerful even without relying on a Sovereign spark.

And after using a Lesser Sovereign spark, he had instantly become the strongest elemental Chief Sovereign beneath the Four Chief Sovereigns of the Edicts.

At the third Sovereign gathering, Locke had used the technique "World Freeze" to force the Snowfall Sovereign to abandon pursuit of a god-level fugitive, allowing the Sovereigns to learn that Locke had originally risen from an ordinary mortal in a material plane.

And this was exactly the point Bayer and the other Sovereigns could not understand.

Bayer himself was a divine beast, the Violet-Eyed Goldwing Roc, yet even he had failed to raise his body to the level of a Sovereign artifact.

How could Locke, an ordinary lifeform, possibly raise his body to such a level?

This completely violated the common sense of the world.

After all, throughout all these years, within the magical universe, only supreme divine beasts and extremely powerful unique lifeforms had ever managed to raise their bodies to the level of Sovereign artifacts.

So how exactly had Locke accomplished this?

The people outside Lotus Rock Island experienced for the first time what it meant to be an "invincible Paragon."

After annihilating the pirate groups led by the Nine Serenities Pirate Crew, the order of the Nethersea had been maintained for the past million years by Locke's Sovereign Army.

Whether in individual combat strength or in large-scale battles utilizing magical battle formations, Locke's Sovereign Army had always displayed absolute dominance.

After all, Locke's Sovereign Army possessed two Prefect-level experts alone.

And neither of those two was considered weak even among Prefects.

Oakes—a dual-element soul mutate.

Without using Sovereign power, he was qualified to stand at the peak as the number one expert of the Netherworld.

Ryan—a unique lifeform whose bodily strength caused his combat power to fall only slightly short of Oakes's fused divine power. Without Sovereign artifacts involved, Ryan was virtually invincible in close combat.

As for Seven Star Fiend-level experts, there were seven stationed upon Lotus Rock Island.

The remaining three, when utilizing magical battle formations, also possessed strength comparable to or even surpassing Seven Star Fiends.

Yet despite such a powerful Sovereign Army, they were now falling from the sky like dumplings dropped into boiling water.

After the destruction of the Fifth Legion led by Celes, the other Sovereign Army soldiers stationed on Lotus Rock Island also launched attacks against Dunnington under the leadership of their respective captains.

No matter how strong Dunnington was, they represented Lord Locke's dignity.

They could fight.

They could die.

But they could not flee!

The result was that however quickly they charged out, they fell just as quickly.

The tens of thousands of Sovereign Army soldiers failed to delay Dunnington for much time at all.

Walking calmly to Figaroa's side, Dunnington found numerous soldiers already lying unconscious around him.

Bending down, Dunnington grabbed Figaroa by the neck and lifted him from the ground.

"It's time to wake up, Figaroa!"

Dunnington retrieved a drop of black Sovereign power from his interspatial ring and absorbed it into his body. Then, using willpower, he controlled a strand of Sovereign power to invade Figaroa's soul, awakening him from the unconscious state Oakes had forced upon him.

Slowly opening his eyes, the first thing Figaroa saw was Dunnington's figure, followed by the sight of the tens of thousands of Sovereign Army soldiers sprawled across the ground, their fates unknown.

"Dunnington, you…"
