New Book-
A Medical Student's Journey in Fairy Tail
A humble medical student's wondrous adventure in the world of Fairy Tail.
The protagonist, Riyao, stayed up all night writing his thesis and was rewarded with a huge truckload of transmigration gifts. He was dumped in the Fairy Tail world by a treacherous goddess and was nearly starved when Makarov picked him up and took him back to the guild.
---
The next day.
Uchiha Gen was awakened by the sound of assembly outside the camp.
"Ugh—"
He still felt a bit tired, and his injuries hadn't fully healed yet.
Since obtaining the young Tsunade character card, this was the first time Uchiha Gen had felt so exhausted.
Exhausted to a certain point, even the Senju Constitution couldn't hold up.
Rising from bed, he used the Mystical Palm Technique to briefly heal the injuries he hadn't had time to tend to last night.
He then secured them with bandages to prevent the wounds from reopening and affecting his movements.
He put on a new set of clothes and walked outside.
In late spring, the temperature in the Land of Rain had risen slightly, but it had become even more humid.
With the continuous drizzle and this temperature, even the air seemed to become sticky.
"Lord Gen, you're awake!"
A young ninja stationed at the door shouted upon seeing Uchiha Gen and hurriedly ran off into the distance.
This is—
Before long, Orochimaru arrived gracefully from the distance, his posture still like that of a noble snake king, elegant and composed.
But he also carried a cruel and ferocious aura like that of a poisonous snake, as if he were about to ruthlessly hunt down a targeted prey.
"You almost died."
Orochimaru looked at Uchiha Gen's body, which was wrapped in bandages in several places.
His voice was calm yet contained an irrepressible rage.
"Yeah, if not for these eyes, I really would have perished there."
"Thanks to Senior Dan as well, otherwise Enju and the others wouldn't have made it back alive."
"Even so, teammates were still lost during this mission."
The Three-Tomoe Sharingan appeared in Uchiha Gen's eyes, glowing with a soul-stirring red light.
"That was your good luck."
"People died, and the responsibility lies with you."
Orochimaru took a list from his robes and placed it in front of Uchiha Gen.
It displayed a series of names in red, many of which were crossed out.
"After yesterday's battle ended, I've been investigating spies."
"I've rooted out many suspects and narrowed it down to a few targets."
"Take a look and see if any of these people have had contact with you."
Does he suspect it was caused by a spy's leak?
Uchiha Gen scanned the list of suspects, and a hint of warmth couldn't help but rise in his heart.
Orochimaru was truly concerned, staying up all night to catch spies after a major battle.
To be able to root out so many people in one night, the workload was not small.
"Thank you for your trouble, Teacher Orochimaru."
"Regarding the mastermind, I have something I want to show you."
Uchiha Gen turned and walked back into the room, picking up a sealed cloth bag from the table with a few simple Sealing Incantations carved on its surface.
Uchiha Gen hadn't even finished flipping through the Sealing Technique textbook Uzumaki Mito gave him.
The content was too vast and complex, and he simply hadn't had the time to study it deeply.
He might not even be considered a beginner in Sealing Techniques; he had only learned a few of the simplest seals at the start, and they couldn't even be maintained for long.
Sealing a living person was definitely out of the question; even an Academy Student who had just learned to refine chakra might be able to break through the seal.
But he was only using it to temporarily seal a finger of White Zetsu inside, isolating its chakra to prevent it from being sensed by White Zetsu's main body.
"This thing—was the Sunagakure Jonin who attacked you biologically modified?"
Seeing this white finger, whose composition differed from conventional biological flesh, a look of interest immediately appeared in Orochimaru's eyes.
Scientists are always full of curiosity about the unknown.
"It might not even belong within the scope of humanity; the inside might no longer be that person."
Uchiha Gen picked up the kettle, poured a cup of lukewarm tea for Orochimaru, and then carefully recounted the events of the battle to him.
"A peculiar secret technique that allows one to merge into the ground and trees, a concealment ability that even the Byakugan cannot detect, and an extremely strong possession and disguise ability."
Orochimaru's gaze was somewhat surprised as he carefully observed the finger.
"The mastermind isn't from Sunagakure."
"Their Human Puppets are strong, and their biological capabilities are decent, but they don't yet have the ability to create or cultivate such a strange creature."
"If they did, our intelligence would have been compromised long ago."
Uchiha Gen couldn't explicitly say that Madara was still alive, hiding in some corner and plotting against the entire Ninja World.
Without an accurate source of information, and since his strength and status weren't high enough to act without explanation, being able to use this finger to prove the existence of a mastermind with extraordinary means who was quietly causing trouble and had targeted him was already good enough.
Besides, White Zetsu's body tissues also have extremely high research value, and there is no one in the entire Ninja World more suitable to study them than Orochimaru.
"For the time being, don't carry out these types of reconnaissance and long-distance independent combat missions."
"Only after you have mastered the power of the Three-Tomoe Sharingan and at least one other Nature Transformation will you have sufficient self-preservation capabilities."
Orochimaru said as he put the finger back into the sealed bag.
He then reached out to perform hand seals, layering one seal after another on top of it.
"I'll take this to study first and let you know when there are results."
"Aside from being needed as a Jonin-level combatant on essential large-scale battlefields, your usual task will be to cultivate and to help lighten the load for Tsunade and me."
"Lighten the load?"
Uchiha Gen was a bit curious.
He understood lightening Tsunade's load—he had done that plenty of times—but what did helping Orochimaru entail?
"Tsunade has gone out on a mission and won't be back for a while."
"The medical affairs in the camp will still be handled by you."
"I also don't have time; I have to serve as the main combat force, command the army, help you study this thing, and I have my own matters to attend to."
"There's no way I can manage it all."
"Senior is only one person and has his own missions, so the rest will depend on you to share the burden."
Uchiha Gen nodded slowly.
Ultimately, it was because Orochimaru's team was still small.
He only had a few capable, trustworthy, and reliable people under him, so he could only pull Gen in to fill the gaps.
"I understand, Teacher Orochimaru."
"However, I might need you or Senior to guide me at first."
"I don't have much experience with these things, and I might not do very well starting from scratch."
"Go find Senior this afternoon; he'll tell you what to do."
"Alright, I won't delay your recovery any longer."
"Even if the people on this list have nothing to do with your current situation, since they've been rooted out, there's no reason to let them off."
Orochimaru took back the list and sneered.
He had a stomach full of fire that he hadn't vented yet; these people could only be considered unlucky.
After seeing Orochimaru off, Uchiha Gen first went to the medical area for an inspection.
He also treated the wounded, including several of his teammates, before finding Mitarai Senior in Orochimaru's office.
"Senior."
"No need to call me senior; it sounds too formal."
"Before long, you'll be a Jonin too. Just call me Senior."
