The morning sun hit the silver dome, shattering into a thousand reflections that skipped across the black stone rooftops of the capital.
In the central square, the transition was so abrupt that the chatter of the marketplace died out instantly, replaced by the low hum of the King's power settling into the earth.
These were not demons who feared the unknown. They were demons who had seen the rise and fall of dynasties. They knew the taste of a realm-wide seal the moment the air changed and the horizon began to shimmer.
"It is a total lockdown," a merchant said, his voice low and raspy as he stepped toward the edge of the square.
He didn't reach out to touch the barrier with wonder. He looked at the invisible wall with the grim eyes of a soldier who had just been told his position was surrounded.
