~LENORA'S POV
"Miss, if you keep drifting off like that, I am going to assume you have already found an escape in your head."
My eyes snapped open so fast I genuinely thought I had been attacked.
For a moment, all I saw was darkness, silk curtains, and the faint silver glow of dawn barely creeping through the massive windows of my chambers before recognition finally hit me.
Nilah was standing beside my bed with her arms folded, looking entirely too amused for someone who had clearly helped orchestrate this violent interruption to my peace, while Xyla stood behind her trying and failing not to laugh.
And beside them, leaning against the carved bedpost like she had all the patience in the world for my dramatics, was Azalea.
"Why are there so many people in my room?" I asked, my voice thick with sleep as I pushed myself upright. "Did someone die?"
"Unfortunately not," Azalea said flatly. "Today is your coronation, try not to panic."
