Chapter 192 - Chapter 192: Beedrill’s Ability

Beedrill finished testing all of its new moves.

Now the moves Beedrill could use were Twineedle combined with Fury Attack and Rage. For Beedrill, Twineedle and Fury Attack could only be considered one move.

"…[Twin Fury]"

To put it simply, this move was Twineedle used with the momentum of Fury Attack, combining the advantages of both moves, the rhythm and frequency of Fury Attack, and the power of Twineedle. Under Beedrill's full exertion, this move was naturally still its "signature" Bug-type move.

Tetsuya directly called out "[Twin Fury]!" And Beedrill seemed to have a power beyond its level, once again using its twin stingers to launch high-frequency strikes.

On the grass, Tetsuya had Beedrill undergo "adaptability" training. Formal training would begin tomorrow, and he had already planned to advance deeper into the forest.

Most of the people still staying on the grass had not yet caught a Pokémon, or had team members who had not caught one.

While Tetsuya was training Beedrill here, people naturally came over to test his strength and carry out so-called "challenges".

He had always accepted such battles without refusal. After all, they were exp bags delivered for free, and more importantly, he needed to test what Ability this Beedrill had. Beedrill generally had two Abilities, Swarm and Sniper.

These two Abilities each had their own characteristics, and he would formulate different training directions based on the different Abilities.

If it was the Swarm Ability, Beedrill would erupt with powerful Bug-type energy when its vitality dropped to the limit, and the Bug-type moves it used would be greatly enhanced.

Since when this Ability -Swarm- was triggered, Beedrill's vitality had already reached its limit, the powerful burst at the end must deal sufficient damage to the opponent. Therefore, it was necessary to train Beedrill's instantaneous explosive power and sprint speed.

It had to be a one-hit kill. If the Swarm Ability was triggered but it was defeated by the opponent before it could attack, then what use would this Ability have.

If it was the Sniper Ability, this Ability would deal greater damage when hitting the opponent's vital points -critical hits-. It was quite a terrifying Ability. The objective's vital points were naturally weaknesses, and being hit would already cause greater damage. Under this Ability, the power was even greater, often resulting in a one-hit knockout.

Pokémon with the Sniper Ability generally had two characteristics. Their gaze was sharper, and compared to ordinary Pokémon, they were better at identifying the opponent's vital points.

Additionally, their assault tactics were more fierce and their instantaneous explosive power was stronger, so when the opponent was hit at a vital point, the damage received would be even more severe.

Of course, the Sniper Ability had a limiting condition, which was that it had to hit the opponent's vital points. If the opponent was a Pokémon that excelled in defense, it would be difficult to succeed.

Although Tetsuya had already made a general guess about its Ability from Beedrill's appearance, it still needed to be confirmed through actual combat.

These low-level Pokémon that came to challenge were no match for Beedrill. After a day of battles, Beedrill won more than a dozen consecutive matches. Tetsuya hadn't even prepared special food for it yet, only using Ditto's milk to satisfy its hunger.

During a battle with Rattata, one Rattata leaped up and used Quick Attack on Beedrill. Beedrill took advantage of the soft spot of its abdomen while it was airborne and defeated it instantly with a single "Twin Fury".

Several consecutive Rattata were all defeated by Beedrill in the same way.

Now Tetsuya could already confirm that Beedrill had the Sniper Ability. In fact, from the very beginning, Tetsuya had already made a deduction based on Beedrill's sharp gaze and its even sharper and longer twin stingers. This only further confirmed his guess.

Since he knew Beedrill's Ability, the direction of training was naturally clear. First, Beedrill had to quickly learn the move Focus Energy. Focus Energy could concentrate its mental capacity more, making it easier to identify the opponent's vital points.

Of course, there was an even more useful move, Laser Focus. This not only allowed it to successfully identify the opponent's vital points, but also enabled it to strike quickly, unleashing power in an instant and guaranteeing a critical hit.

This move was a tutor move¹[1] and was very difficult to learn. Rather than calling it a move, it was more like a level achieved through long-term training. However, Tetsuya clearly understood this training direction.

Once Beedrill could perfect the three elements of "identifying the opponent's vital points," "striking quickly," and "instant explosive power," it could be said to be an excellent Beedrill.

Thanks to the experience gained from those who came to spar with him, Beedrill had already learned the Dark-type move Pursuit.

Moves such as Pursuit, Night Slash, and Sucker Punch all emphasized "suddenness". By rotating its body, the power was maximized, and the speed of its movement was increased. If the opponent tried to escape, the power of this move would be even greater.

Under Tetsuya's command, Beedrill practiced several times. Black Dark-type energy wrapped around its sharp stingers. Immediately after, Beedrill flapped its wings, thrusting forward with a single stinger, its entire body darting forward. However, this move had not yet undergone systematic training and could not be used properly.

Almost all of Beedrill's moves relied on its twin stingers and tail stinger, so Beedrill's basic training revolved around them.

After a day of training, Tetsuya's Beedrill power had already spread among many teams, and many people had also reinforced their resolve to catch Weedle.

…But not every Beedrill was called "Tetsuya's Beedrill."

The next day, Tetsuya went to the Shadow Team's stationed area. This time, he needed to gradually go deeper into the forest, and he might not return here for quite some time, so he needed to prepare properly.

He still had one Spearow and four Beedrill registered.

One Beedrill was exchanged for medicine, one Beedrill was exchanged for fifty bottles of nectar to be used as Beedrill's food. Of course, if Tetsuya could catch a Grass-type Pokémon that produced nectar, it definitely would not eat this inferior product.

One Beedrill was exchanged for his own food, and one Beedrill was exchanged for some ordinary Pokéfood.

This time going deeper into the forest, there was a high possibility that he would catch Pokémon worth training, so he could not be troubled by food issues at that time.

There were more things that could be exchanged with Spearow. Tetsuya hesitated for quite a while, and in the end chose a set of safety gear for himself: full protective clothing, a gas mask, and four weights.

Full protective clothing was essential for survival in the wilderness. It looked similar to thermal underwear, close-fitting clothing worn next to the skin.

This clothing was woven from Ariados silk combined with modern fireproof techniques and other procedures. It was extremely tough, not afraid of fire, and could not be bitten through or torn apart. When walking in the wilderness, Pokémon ambushes were inevitable.

With such equipment, his personal safety was greatly ensured!

There was no need to explain the gas mask. The deeper parts of the forest were full of miasma, Poison-type Pokémon were everywhere, and it could also block powder-type moves. It was an indispensable piece of protective equipment.

The four weights were naturally used for his own training, and Pokémon could also use them.
