Something wasn't adding up. Marix knew that the alleged sullying of their family line couldn't possibly be the real reason Arlon was objecting to his marriage with Eilownia.
He was determined to find out the truth, no matter what it took. As soon as he had arrived home from his meeting with Arlon and their father, he'd asked Jinya to bake Arlon's favorite dessert – Prickly Pear Pie.
It was a difficult recipe due to the needles on the pears needing to be removed completely. Very few people were skilled enough to make it properly and luckily Jinya was one of them.
As he walked down the hall towards Arlon's office, the scent of the pie wafted in the air, causing his own mouth to water. Was there anything Jinya wasn't capable of? It was the best smelling Prickly Pear Pie he'd ever experienced.
Surely, Arlon would be weak in the knees for it.
Marix knocked twice on the large, heavy, hardwood door and waited until he heard Arlon's voice say, "Come in."
