Sweat beaded down the sides of Marix's face as he tossed and turned underneath the covers. His mind was racing with thoughts of Eilownia, Relia, the war and their upcoming journey. What was he going to do? His family that he'd fought so hard to protect this whole time suddenly felt so vulnerable.
He sat up in the bed, his chest heaving as he gasped for air. The moon shone in, allowing him to see his wife and daughter clearly.
Eilownia lay next to him, her hand on the pillow and her head tilted to the side. She was in a deep sleep, her mouth open with some drool coming out. Strands of her brown hair covered her face, which he gently pushed back and tucked behind her ear.
Relia stirred in her crib, her feet kicking up and tangling in the blankets. Her mouth wiggled as she stayed wrapped in the confines of restless sleep.
'Like father, like daughter I guess.' He chuckled softly to himself as he leaned over and buried his forehead in his palm.
