"Are you afraid?" Adele could suddenly sense slight warmth rising within her owing to his words.
"No."
Returning his deep gaze, Rocean leaned down. His breath ghosted over Adele's ear when he instructed in a low voice, "Be good."
"Okay," was all Adele could say in a soft tone. After giving him a single nod of acknowledgement, she eventually looked away when he moved off, as she fixed her gaze on Charlotte again.
What was she supposed to do in the meantime? As that thought crossed her mind, a gentleman approached and invited her to dance the instant Ilya stepped aside.
Adele was unaware that her presence attracted such attention. Did he hit his head? Or maybe something was wrong with him. Did he drink a funny liquid and is now talking gibberish? There are alcoholic beverages that can make a person say things they don't mean. Or did he confuse her with somebody else?
Adele whirled to see where Ilya had gone. What she saw made her stop thinking for a few seconds.
