Chapter 52 – The Worthy Opponent
Our story continues from where the previous chapter ended.
White Ghost decapitates one of the Kill Guild members.
White Ghost Hunter—
White Ghost's sword floats silently in the air. Strange words begin to glow across its blade, and a crimson aura erupts from it. The sky instantly darkens as red lightning flashes through the clouds, striking down toward the Kill Guild members.
Logan Lee—
"What... is this?"
A massive formation suddenly appears, creating a powerful protective barrier that blocks every bolt of lightning. The Kill Guild members sigh in relief.
Logan Lee—
"What an incredible weapon. From this moment on, this sword will belong to me. I've never seen a weapon this powerful... one that can react on its own."
A sinister smile spreads across his face.
Suddenly, White Ghost's sword shoots high into the sky before charging toward Logan Lee at an unbelievable speed.
Everything happens so fast that no one can follow it with their eyes.
BOOM!!
A deafening explosion shakes the battlefield.
No one expected the sword to launch a direct attack on Logan Lee.
But everyone is left speechless.
Logan Lee isn't injured at all.
At the last moment, he had pushed one of his own guild members in front of him. The sword pierced straight through the man's heart.
Logan Lee—
He draws a formation in the air.
Chains burst out from the corpse, wrapping tightly around the sword and locking it in place.
The sword can no longer escape from the body.
Laughing loudly, Logan Lee says,
"Now... this weapon belongs to me."
He then turns toward White Ghost.
"So... do you have any other skills? You've finally caught my interest. Come on... let's have a fair fight."
White Ghost Hunter—
"No need.
I can handle myself."
Slowly, cracks begin to spread across the chains of the formation.
Everyone stares in shock.
BOOM!!
With a massive explosion, the formation shatters instantly.
In the very next moment, White Ghost throws a punch into the empty air.
A terrifying blast of compressed wind races straight toward Logan Lee.
Everyone watches in disbelief.
Just as the invisible punch is about to hit him, the protective barrier activates and blocks the attack.
It seems as though the punch had no effect at all.
But a few moments later...
Everyone realizes the truth.
The impact of that single punch activates every formation on the battlefield.
For the first time...
Logan Lee's expression changes.
His own Kill Guild members become trapped inside the activated formations.
White Ghost Hunter—
"Now it's fair.
No one will interfere anymore."
Logan Lee—
"This is exactly what I expected from you.
People don't call you the Killing Machine for nothing.
You truly are a worthy opponent.
I wish I could fight you... and kill you.
But I don't have permission to do that.
I was only ordered to bring you here.
My job is finished."
White Ghost Hunter—
"So you're just going to abandon all of your Guild members?
What kind of leader are you?"
Logan Lee—
"I know you won't kill them...
Not while he is here."
At that moment...
A figure appears in the distance.
He walks forward with a cane whose tip glows with a mysterious light.
A black cap hides part of his face, while a long coat flows behind him in the wind.
A golden monocle covers one of his eyes, giving him a noble and regal appearance.
The man stops.
Looking straight ahead, he says,
"At last... I finally found you."
