The moment the eyes opened, the world changed.
A deep tremor rolled through the entire city like a giant heartbeat rising from beneath the ground.
Every street.
Every tower.
Every stone wall.
The earth itself seemed to react to those awakening eyes.
Citizens froze in place as the massive blood hands looming above them slowly flexed their fingers. The surface of each crimson limb rippled as if it were alive. The countless eyes embedded within them blinked once, then again, their dark pupils slowly focusing on the world around them.
Then the color spread.
At first it looked like thin lines of liquid running along the stone streets.
Red.
Dark red.
The blood that formed the giant hands began dripping down onto the city like thick paint spilling from an overturned jar.
Drops struck the ground.
Another drop landed on a market stall.
Another splashed across a stone statue.
Within seconds those drops began spreading outward across the surfaces they touched.
Stone turned red.
