The moment I stepped out of Alanna's house to make that call, I knew I could not stay any longer.
Every second I remained there felt like wasted time.
Within minutes I was already behind the wheel of my car, the engine droning steadily as I drove through the silent evening streets.
The conversation with Alanna replayed faintly in the back of my mind. I knew what she meant, and the truth was, even though I had broken our relationship, my feelings remained.
They weren't dead, just hidden, but right now I had a wife and my attention quickly shifted to something far more pressing.
Jade.
More specifically, the people responsible for hurting her.
