~Jade's POV~
I could taste the hatred in Xade's words.
"When she's been caught, no less," Xander added spitefully.
I shut my eyes briefly. Part of me wished I had just gone home and returned only when their anger had abated, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
Before, this relationship was just to cure their curse, but now… all I could feel was the ache at the hurt I must have caused.
I took a deep breath. If I hesitated now, I would only make things worse.
"Drake…" I started, then paused briefly, gathering my thoughts. "He's not just some random person. He's… my mate."
No one reacted immediately. That was the worst part.
The silence that followed was the longest of my life, stretching so painfully that I could hear my own heartbeat pounding in my ears.
"I met him before he came to school," I added quickly, my fingers curling slightly at my sides.
"Wow, we've been deceived longer."
