She stumbled, skidding her boots on the slick stone, but she managed to plant her feet and stabilize them both, lowering him gently until he sat propped against the stone banister. She then sat right beside him in the muck, refusing to let go of his hand.
Now that the fire of battle had died, Kurt's body began to scream. The deep gash in his shoulder, the puncture wounds from Tobias's dagger, and the deep cut wounds on his leg hit him all at once. He leaned his head back against the banister, his breath coming in shallow hitches.
