I quickly weaved hand signs. A small crystal ball formed in the palms of my hands. It grew from nothing into a perfect sphere the size of an apple.
'Crystal Release: Heat Core Jutsu.'
It was a beautiful red crystal with a hint of orange inside. This beautiful thing though was very deadly. I had stored fire inside the core.
A lot of fire compressed to fit inside the small crystal. The fun fact about crystals was that their material both inside and outside was very tough.
They were quite resistant to heat, even more than most metals. That was why the crystal was able to contain so much fire inside it without melting right away.
I launched the crystal toward Ren-sensei with a flick of my wrist. It flew straight and fast.
Sensei who had seen me use this jutsu in the past when I was creating it, knew the danger coming his way.
He immediately disengaged himself from the water clones who did their best to stop him. But sensei was too quick and slippery for them.
He jumped back and started forming seals of his own. "Earth Style: Multiple Mud Walls Jutsu."
Multiple earth walls rose up in front of the core and in front of sensei. They stacked like thick shields made of packed mud and stone.
Someone might have thought that It was an overkill and wastege of chakra but it was not.
As soon as the crystal ball came in contact with the first wall, the crystal shattered with a sharp crack.
The fire that was trapped inside it came out all at once. When about five fireballs' worth of fire was stored in such a small thing, the resulting fire and explosion was both big and hot. Very hot.
There was a hint of a little white flame as the crystal broke, quickly overtaken by the red and orange of roaring fire.
A huge explosion took place. The blast wave rolled outward. The earth walls crumbled one after another like paper. Flames swallowed the area where sensei had been standing. Smoke and heat filled the clearing.
I had to back off a little as the heat even got to me. The air burned my skin from a distance.
Misa and Kenji, who were watching from the side, had to run for their lives. They sprinted to escape the wave of scorching air.
Thankfully sensei had already destroyed the area with his earth release jutsu and since it was supposed to be a training ground, there were not many trees that would have spread the flames.
As the explosion cleared, there was only soot and burned objects left behind. Charred branches smoked. My water clones had been caught in the blast too. They evaporated into harmless mist, casualties of my own attack.
Ren sensei though was missing.
'I am definitely sure that he is not dead. And I am sure it was not a shadow clone. That means...'
I jumped into the air just in time. A figure came from behind me, trying to ram me with a knee strike.
Sensei had escaped through the ground somehow. He burst out from below like he had tunneled up.
Sensei landed and huffed a little from the effort. "Some talented Iwa shinobi would be able to escape through inside the earth. It's a difficult jutsu to learn and master but there might be a few Iwa shinobi who could do the same as me. So be careful of underground attacks. With Misa's Byakugan you do not have to worry much about it, but alone you very much do."
I nodded, breathing hard. The fight had taken more out of me than I expected despite not taking a single hit. It was more of the amount of chakra that I used. Naras don't have much chakra to play with.
They have more than civilian shinobis but not as much as Akimichi or Uzumaki.
I knew that in the future I would have to be careful about my chakra expenditure especially in a real battlefield.
Sensei looked at me for a long moment. Then he said, "Yeah, you do not have to worry much though. You little monster. The spar is over."
He groaned and lifted his left arm to look at it. The sleeve of his jonin vest was gone. The armor plating had melted or burned away completely.
His skin underneath was red and blistered, burned badly in places.
I walked over to sensei. He glanced at me with an irritated expression. "What? Are you not happy enough to burn off your one and only sensei's arm? Seriously, what were those flames? Fuck, I am sure that I have only seen such hot flames from the Third Hokage."
I just smiled wryly and said, "I can heal you. I have been practicing some iryo ninjutsu."
Sensei raised an eyebrow. He studied my face for a second, then nodded slowly. "Alright. Go ahead. Just do not make it worse."
I placed my hands gently over the burned skin. Green chakra flowed from my palms. I focused on the cooling sensation first, then on rebuilding the damaged tissue layer by layer.
I refrained from saying to sensei that I had not treated a burned victim yet. But I was not going to let my first real burned experiment subject get scared off. Besides, it was just a burned arm. What could go wrong?
The green light spread. The redness started to fade slowly. Blisters shrank. Sensei hissed through his teeth but stayed still.
Misa and Kenji came back closer now, watching closely.
I kept working until the worst of the damage was gone. Sensei flexed his fingers and looked at the healed skin. It was still pink and tender, but no longer raw or bleeding.
"Not bad, kid," he muttered. "Are not you a box full of little suprises? And well some very hot suprises. I pity the Iwa fools that they to go after you in the chunin exams."
I let out a tired laugh. The spar was over, and somehow I had not completely embarrassed myself. In fact, I was not hit even once. That felt like a win.
