Severine remained quiet.
Her lips were rubbed raw by her constant wiping.
When Killian glanced at her from the corner of his eye, all he saw was rosy red spreading on her usually pale pink lips.
His grip on the steering wheel tightened.
The luxurious ride, which was supposed to be his and Severine's 'long-drive date,' was filled with suffocating silence.
By the time they returned to the Wintehall Enclave, the night had deepened, stars twinkling in the sky.
"Do you want to stay or go to your home?" she asked.
Not that it would make any difference. More often than not, Killian had been staying in the guest room on a floor below Severine's.
When he didn't reply, Severine closed the door and left.
"Can I really stay by your side?" he said, his voice low. His red eyes were glued to her back.
The sight of her walking away didn't sit well with him.
