"So, so incredibly, extremely dumb," Amanda whispered, her eyes glowing with a terrifying, blue light as she took a final step back.
"And now... you are going to die in this isolated place because of it."
The echoes of her cruel laughter still hung in the heavy air when a sudden sound broke the silence of the environment.
It was the distinct, rhythmic thud of heavy leather boots striking the ground beside me.
I whipped my head around, my heart leaping into my throat.
Rhydor was walking out of the trees, stepping into the dim light of the isolated area.
His massive battle axes were already gripped tightly in his large hands, the metal gleaming with a cold, unforgiving edge.
His jaw was set, and his amber eyes were fixed entirely on me with an unreadable, intense focus.
Relief flooded my chest so fast it made me dizzy. He had found a way into the barrier.
He had broken through this place to get to me.
But why couldn't I feel our bond? Maybe he blocked it.
