Torin's POV
She left the hall after making her wish.
One second she was standing near the long banquet tables under the lantern light, and the next, her dark cloak vanished past the heavy wooden doors leading out into the cool night air.
I looked around the busy room. People were laughing, drinking sweet wine, and celebrating Azura and Rhydor's huge moment. But my eyes couldn't focus on any of that. She was gone.
I cut through the thick crowd, ignoring a few warriors who tried to slap my shoulder to hand me another cup of ale. I didn't have time for that right now. I tracked her scent out the double doors and straight into the stone-lined garden. Knowing the layout of the courtyard better than anyone, I took a sharp right down a narrow brick shortcut, cutting off her path before she could reach the quiet edge of the forest.
I stepped right out of the shadows, appearing directly in front of her.
