Felicity did not move until Lucan took that step toward her.
It was only one step the effect was immediate.
Her cheeks were already flushed from the earlier moment behind Voss. The warmth had never fully left her skin after Lucan's voice rolled across the yard and settled somewhere low in her chest. The moment he shifted forward again the strange flutter returned twice as strong.
Her instincts did not understand the reaction but her body did, she turned.
And without thinking she moved behind Victor.
Victor stood a full seven feet tall. When Felicity pressed into him she disappeared almost completely behind the broad plane of his back. Her arms slid around his waist and locked there instinctively. Her cheek pressed against the middle of his spine.
Victor felt the contact instantly. He did not turn, did not shift his stance. His eyes never left Lucan.
One hand moved behind him instead. His fingers brushed her wrist briefly checking.
She tightened her hold.
