The receptionist held her breath, thanked her friendbefore whispering. "Do you think the rumours that it was her who crashed into the building is true?"
The lady glanced around the first floor and whispered in return. "Vice Chairman Sullivan has been leaving work early and arriving late in the last three months. Paparazzi then saw him frequenting the Sullivan Hospital while there was news of her being admitted. I think the rest is easy to understand." She completed.
Anna got to the floor and was well received by his personal assistant, Brook. "Miss Harbinger, the Vice Chairman, has been expecting you. Please…" She gestured to the huge double door and helped Anna with it.
Walking in, Anna realised It's her first time visiting his company or office—save for the obvious incident—and she was surprised to see that the office had the same design as his home.
There wasn't any unnecessary decorations in it. And it was all of dull color tones. A huge conference table to her right, glass view of the entire city before her, two couch in the center, a spare table. His desk that was situated in front of the glass, two doors to her left, a little bar and Sullivan himself emerging from one of the doors.
He looked glad when he saw her as his eyes twinkled with a glint in it. "Annabelle." He breathed, almost whispering her name.
"Mr Sullivan."
They walked towards each other and stopped with just a few inches between them. She took in his attire, the same black suit and black shirt. Well pressed and perfectly fitting to his body.
She wanted to press her hands against his lapels and adjust his tie, not that it was necessary. She just really wanted to feel if his chest was as sturdy as it looked.
"Thank you for having me here." She comments as he ushered her to the couch.
"You are welcome. Would you like some macaroons? I picked them up this morning. I felt you might like them."
She immediately beamed as he brought out the box of colorful macaroons from his refrigerator. "Of course. God! Finally something sweet."
Anna took the box and sat down with it, then picked her phone to read an ebook she had bought. Sullivan noticed that she had already settled in and went about his business, although he barely got anything done because he kept watching her.
Barely an hour later, she dozed off on the couch and it made him smile. She was definitely more bored here and there was nothing he could do to keep her fun and happy. He was a boring man through and through.
Sullivan covered her with a blanket and went back to work, his thoughts filled with the lady sleeping just a few feet away.
When Anna woke up by evening, her first view was of him, face seriously buried in documents. She stared at him, how specially marvelous his face had been carved by God. Her heart skipped beats and she wanted it to not betray her words of creating boundaries even though she knew she was weak to him.
His good looks were the problem. Plus the fact that he kind to her. More than her ex husband as ever been.
"You are awake." He said without raising his head.
She left the couch and walked to his desk, grazing her hands across the shiny surface of his table before stopping two feet away from him.
Sullivan looked up then, meeting her eyes, the question on his lips a huge weight on his bother-free mind. "Anna…"
"Hmmm..?" She picked a fountain pen and toyed with it, writing something on the palm of her hand.
"Are you scared of your sister in law?" She stopped twirling the pen and looked at him. "Let me rephrase. Is your sister in law involved in your accident?"
When she had refused to tell him, she knew it was only a matter of time before he found out himself. There was nothing one could hide from Michael Sullivan anyways.
"Mr Sullivan.." She dropped the pen on his desk and placed her hands behind her back.
Sullivan raised a brow, as she attempted to step back. But he rolled his chair forward and grabbed her, lifting her off the floor in one smooth motion and settling her on the desk before him.
Her stomach dropped, a sweet funny feeling settling in the base of it before it travelled to her body. Towards the space between her legs, leaving her with an awakened urge she was very familiar with.
He placed his hands next to her hips to prevent her from escaping. His chest rising and falling with every breath he took. Her scent was intoxicating and it clouded his mind with several ways he could show Anna she deserved the world. "Because your ex-husband just transferred all his shares of the Harbinger company to a person named Gigi Lacoke."
Anna furrowed her brows but didn't look shocked. It wasn't like she didn't know this was Gigi's end goal. Take over the company. She wouldn't be shocked if she finds that Gigi had her brother killed.
Anthony had nothing but love for her. And maybe she should have suspected the lady was up to something when they got married too quickly. Her father who had been against the marriage and didn't like Gigi for unknown reasons ended up dying just three months to their wedding.
Gigi had insisted on no longer having the wedding but Anthony was against it. She had always wanted an elaborate wedding and he didn't want his wife giving up things she wanted just to coddle his feelings. Her mother started to act up after their wedding.
She wasn't the type of person to pick on people but nothing Gigi did seemed to sit well with her. So when she had done something horrible to Gigi, she and her brother decided they were better off without her in their lives and cut ties with the woman.
It didn't matter what she did or said back then to rid herself of the matter, no one believed. Anna had to give it to her, Gigi planned it perfectly well. And her infiltration into her family was something that must have been pre-planned before she even met Anthony.
Afterall, she was nothing but a mere finance staff at Harbinger cooperation while Gigi's late brother had taken up the role of their late father who was the Chief Financial Officer.
Thinking about it now, there were too many deaths surrounding Gigi and Anna was starting to suspect nothing was the force of nature.
"You can trust me." Sullivan assured when he noticed the lady was deep in thought. Just what is keeping her tight lipped about the issue?
Anna looked at him then, her hands gently laying on laps he wanted smothered around his head. Hands he wanted grazing the base of his skull and pushing his face into a lovely pussy he wouldn't mind eating till he took his last breath.
Sullivan blinked away the thoughts, his intuition rising higher than usual. He was getting intoxicated on this woman and he couldn't control it. Sullivan who was known for being a man in control of his life and emotions was losing his touch.
"Really?" She asked and he nodded. She tried to speak again but a knock on the door interrupted them.
Brooke stepped in, seeing the position the two were in, she tried to step back. A little… 'sorry' on her lips.
"What is it?" He didn't sound annoyed and she stepped into the office.
Anna tried to jump down from the desk but Sullivan moved closer and she instinctively parted her legs, letting his body glide between as he moved his head closer now staring at Brooke with his head right by her waist.
Her whole body felt like it was on fire and she had to raise her hand for him to be able to place his head close to her waist as he spoke to Brooke.
The position was more intimate than she had ever been in with him and it made her very aware of the fact that his body was between her legs. Legs she had been pressing together a few seconds ago.
"It's the BJK line. Joan just finished the drafting and I have looked through it." She heard Brooke say, the lady sounding very professional. "Your signature is needed."
She watched Sullivan pick the fountain pen she had dropped on the desk without even looking. "Put it on the desk."
She heard the shuffling of paper and she turned stiff when his hands around her waist turned even tighter, indicating that he had probably taken the document and was looking through it. Her left hand was awkwardly hanging in the air because his head was invading her side so she carefully rested it on his head, the fluffy strands of his hair filling her hand.
It was slicked back although at night, she saw his hair free. She let her curiosity get the better of her as she felt the strands of his hair. The silky length of it easily rolling between her fingers.
Sullivan froze under her touch, his hand pausing on the line on the document. He didnt dare move. Afraid he would ruin the moment. He wanted to savor it.
Brooke noticed his weird behavior and pressed her lips tight. Joan and Sarki were right, this lady is an anomaly in his life.
It took a whole minute for him to get his bearings and sign off his name on the document.
"Thank you." She said and left the room, glancing back once to stare at Anna's back and her boss whose eyes were now the usual shade she was used to.
She sniffed the doom around him the moment he had rescued her from fire knowing it was one other thing that would be the total death of him.
Sullivan leaned back slightly and Anna rested the elbow of her hand against her side, her fingers still entwined in his hair.
Their eyes met, both with slightly parted lips. Anna let her eyes fall to his lips, atrocious thoughts of how good it would feel to have his lips all over her. Worshipping her skin. Whispering the dirtiest things to her.
Sullivan couldn't break free from her spell but when Anna slipped her hand from his hair, he rolled his chair backwards, removing his upper body from between her legs while her hands glided across his face before she brought it to her lap.
She pressed her legs together again, the awkward silence filling the room.
"Do you remember our first meeting?" She randomly asked and he nodded.
"Clearly."
"If you can tell me why you killed those people, maybe I will open up and trust you."
Sulivam smirked. Barely noticeable.
Oh, this cunning little brat of his!
