Anna initially planned to stay home but later decided to pay a surprise visit to her mother. With a fur coat and simple purse, she left the house to the popular coffee shop, waiting for the next empty taxi to come by. Upon waving her hand at one, someone called her from behind.
The voice, certain yet unfamiliar. "Annabelle Harbinger."
Anna turned around, left palm in her coat holding onto her phone. She was prepared to press the power button thrice, an emergency that would go straight to Sullivan—an act she learnt after being bullied. She didn't recognise him and he knew because he smiled at the squint in her eyes.
As her gaze moved to his vest, she recognized the badge and wore a defensive expression. "How may I help you?"
The police officer glanced at the badge and shook his head, bright friendly smile contouring his face.
