[Time Skip: One Year Later]
[Third-Person POV]
The sun shone brightly, casting a golden hue over the Village Hidden in the Leaves.
Within the Hokage's residence—built at the very heart of the village. The leader of the most powerful shinobi nation let out a dry cough from behind his desk.
"Yes, Hokage. Nothing in that report is exaggerated" Akari Sheiten said evenly. "If anything, the assessment on Hakari Hyūga is understated."
Hiruzen Sarutobi's expression shifted, shock melting into something closer to disbelief.
"I see" he murmured at last. "You are dismissed, Sheiten."
The chūnin instructor bowed respectfully and exited the office, the door closing with a soft click behind him.
Silence followed.
Hiruzen's gaze drifted from the door to the two open files spread across his desk. He exhaled slowly.
He had always trusted Tobirama-sensei's words. Always.
Yet there had been one story that Hiruzen had quietly believed to be… exaggerated.
The tale of Satoru Hyūga.
A name most of the shinobi world no longer recognized—at least not anymore. Upon his death, Satoru's enemies had erased nearly all records of his existence, driven by fear that someone like him might one day be born again.
And for decades—no, for nearly a full century and it had worked.
Until six years ago.
Another wielder of the Six Eyes and the Limitless had been born into the Hyūga clan.
"Hakari Hyūga…" Hiruzen murmured, lifting the end-of-year academy report bearing the boy's name.
Then read it again.
Hakari Hyūga, at first glance, appears to be a lazy student—particularly during lectures. He is frequently inattentive, often lost in his own thoughts. However, this perceived lack of focus is contradicted by his academic performance. He has never failed to achieve full marks on a written examination.
He is an exceptionally gifted child, possessing analytical ability and a worldview more in line with a jōnin than an academy student.
Despite his apparent disinterest in class, his behavior is exemplary. While prone to the occasional sarcastic remark, he remains respectful and disciplined.
Hakari Hyūga is, without exaggeration, the most powerful academy student in his class and quite possibly in the academy's history.
He possesses perfect chakra control, paired with chakra reserves comparable to that of a mid-tier chūnin. This control is not merely theoretical. He applies it instinctively, reinforcing his body with chakra to an extreme degree. As a result, his physical strength and speed rival those of high-tier jōnin, with the potential raw prowess, comparable to Tsunade Senju and Sakumo Hatake.
This assessment does not account for his reflexes.
In sparring matches, Hakari has never been struck by a classmate, accomplishing this without activating his innate bloodline limit—the Limitless.
During the taijutsu assessment, where a chūnin instructor is meant to pressure the student to identify weaknesses, Hakari incapacitated the instructor instantly, rendering him unconscious before corrective measures could be taken.
He has fully mastered the academy's required techniques: the Clone Technique, Transformation Technique, and Substitution Jutsu. All recorded E-rank genjutsu have failed to affect him, each dispelled with minimal effort.
Hiruzen placed the folder back onto his desk before reaching the end.
"…This is a six-year-old?" he muttered.
There was no denying it. Hakari Hyūga had surpassed every requirement necessary to graduate from the academy and be promoted to genin.
Alongside him stood one other name.
Kakashi Hatake.
Kakashi's report was impressive—undeniably so but it was also expected, given who his father had been. His achievements stood tall on their own merit, yet even so, they were incomparable to Hakari's.
A smile slowly spread across the aging Hokage's face.
It seemed the flow of prodigies from Konoha's academy had not slowed in the slightest.
After finishing both files, Hiruzen pressed his stamp firmly onto each, thus authorizing their early graduation.
He called for his assistant, who appeared instantly.
"These" Hiruzen said, handing over the folders. "Deliver them to the academy principal."
Once the door closed again, the Hokage leaned back in his chair, eyes narrowing in thought.
Now came the difficult part.
Choosing a team for the two prodigies.
Evening rolled in, and the streets of Konoha buzzed with life. Civilians and shinobi alike filtering home after long days of work.
Laughter burst out from a small dango shop, loud and completely unrestrained.
The culprit was a purple-haired girl, her hair tied up in a messy bun, one arm slung casually over the shoulders of another purple-haired girl whose hair fell freely to just past her shoulders.
Across the table sat two white-haired boys. one wearing a black blindfold, the other a mask.
Both boys wore the exact same expression, a mix of empathy and fear.
They had just listened to Anko recount, in great detail, how she'd kicked a random ninja in the 'Dangos' for bumping into her and causing her to drop her dango.
Silently, the two reaffirmed a very important life rule.
Never mess with Anko's dango, not if you valued your fertility.
Anko let out an exaggerated sigh, slumping slightly, the sudden shift not going unnoticed by the two snowheads. Beside her, the other purple-haired girl remained neutral, quietly finishing her skewer.
"Man...." Anko muttered, eyes flicking toward the boys. "why the hell did you two have to graduate already?"
While it hadn't been officially announced yet, it was obvious. Hakari and Kakashi's early graduation was only a matter of time as there wasn't exactly a rule against being absurdly talented.
"You miss me already, Anko?" Hakari asked, his tone teasing, a sly grin tugging at his lips.
"Yes!" she replied instantly. "Without the two of you, who the hell am I supposed to mess around with at the academy?"
"You'll have Guy" Kakashi chimed in calmly. "Just convince him that whatever scheme you're plotting is youthful."
Anko scowled at him.
Hakari nodded thoughtfully, smiling. Over the past year, Kakashi had grown noticeably more talkative—mostly due to Hakari's influence. Especially around Anko, someone he'd previously only tolerated.
"Why would I do that?" Anko said, then paused.
Her eyes locked onto Kakashi's.
A teasing grin spread across her face.
"I mean.." she continued, pointing at him, "isn't Guy your boyfriend?"
Kakashi's brow twitched.
Anko burst into laughter, repeatedly jabbing a finger in his direction. Hakari could've sworn he saw a vein pop on Kakashi's temple before the two immediately devolved into rapid-fire bickering, insults flying back and forth across the table.
Hakari leaned back, dango in hand, utterly content.
This was worth graduating early for.
All the while, Hakari and Yugao chuckled at their best friend's antics. Hakari's head turned slightly toward Yugao and, despite the blindfold, she could feel his attention settle on her.
"Will you miss us too, Yugao?" Hakari asked, this time without the teasing tone.
The quiet girl spoke up. "Yeah" she said softly. "Mostly because it'll leave me as the only victim of Anko's teasing."
A rare smile appeared on her usually monotone face.
"Don't worry," Hakari said easily. "I'm sure you'll graduate next year."
"You think so?" she asked, her gaze lingering on his black blindfold.
"Yeah. You're pretty strong," Hakari replied, reaching for another stick of dango.
A light blush spread across Yugao's face at the compliment, prompting her to look away toward the bustling street.
Meanwhile, the bickering between Anko and Kakashi had escalated dramatically. So much so that Anko suddenly leapt from her seat, launching herself at Kakashi with the clear intent to choke him.
They crashed to the ground.
Hakari and Yugao snapped their attention back just in time to see Kakashi—pinned beneath Anko's hands. Then he poofed into a chair.
At the same time, Kakashi appeared across the table, standing calmly where Anko's chair had been.
The two locked eyes, glaring daggers at each other as Anko slowly rose to her feet.
Their standoff broke when both of them noticed the quiet chuckling coming from the other side of the table.
"Let's call it a draw for today." Kakashi said, exhaling as he walked over and back to his chair.
She nodded, grabbing her chair before walking back and sat down. "Yeah. That's fine."
She smirked. "I won, by the way."
"Which makes the score…" Hakari mused aloud. "Forty-seven to three. Kakashi."
Anko shot him a glare. Kakashi gave an eye-smile.
"Shut up, Hakari!" she shouted, flicking a toothpick straight at his face.
The toothpick never reached him.
It stopped midair, floating an inch away from Hakari's forehead.
Hakari casually reached up and caught it as it dropped. "Thanks." he said, using it to pick his teeth.
Anko's eye twitched.
"Arrogant little shit," she muttered. "Just you wait. Me and Yugao are graduating next year."
She puffed out her chest and slung an arm around Yugao's shoulders.
"What do you mean you two?" Hakari asked, grinning.
"What? Some friend you are" Anko scoffed dramatically, pressing a hand to her chest.
"No." Hakari corrected. "I believe Yugao will pass next year."
"Why not me too?" Anko demanded.
"Because you're weak."
Hakari barely finished the sentence before Anko began pelting him with a barrage of toothpicks.
The group's playful banter continued on. Two tables behind them, Hitensu and Jun sat eating dango while chatting. Hitensu kept an eye on Hakari, as they were still on guard duty.
The two guards, as instructed by Hakari, followed him while keeping their distance as he and his friends went to places all over the village, eventually ending their day of fun at a training ground where they all left for their respective homes.
He was going to miss it. Training and messing around with those three. Well, two, since Kakashi was becoming a genin with him. But it wasn't guaranteed they were going to be on the same team.
His original goal of becoming friends with Obito and Kakashi ended pretty quickly, as Obito, despite his best efforts, didn't become that close with him—mainly because of the tension between the Hyūga clan and the Uchiha clan.
That was when Anko bluntly invaded his and Kakashi's friendship circle, dragging Yugao along with her.
His smile fell as he entered the compound of the Hyūga clan, his guards subsequently leaving his side. He went to his room and took a quick shower, and as he was putting on his pajamas, a knock on his door caught his attention. It was his caretaker and he could sense her through it.
He opened the door, hearing her out.
"Lord Hiashi requests your immediate appearance before him" she informed, lowering her head.
Hakari scowled as he placed his sandals on the wooden floor and quickly knelt down to strap them on before she even tried to. Sensing that she was about to say something, he spoke up.
"I'm not a kid anymore. You don't need to spoonfeed me everything."
He was very much a kid, but that wasn't the point.
His footsteps echoed off the walls as he walked toward the clan head's office. The elders were with Hiashi.
Oh great he thought.
Not even knocking, he simply walked inside without a word, much to the disdain of the other three in the room. He didn't care and sat down.
"What is it?" Hakari asked, his tone bored, earning a glare from Hiashi.
"It is about your development. As expected, you are graduating from the academy as the undisputed top of the class. However, your attitude does not align with that of a Hyūga," Hiashi spoke.
Hakari let out an uninterested sigh.
"Is that all?" he replied, clearly wanting to go to sleep.
"Show respect in front of your superiors!" Ayamako spat. The elder had grown disgusted with the way he acted.
Hakari scoffed before standing up from the chair. "I'm going to bed."
Before he could take a step toward the door, he felt the killing intent of the three individuals seated behind him. He turned his head slightly.
"My bad," he said. "Was there anything worth my time you wanted to say?"
That was the straw that broke the camel's back.
Masayori lunged at the Six Eyes wielder from behind, Byakugan activated as chakra flowed to the tips of his wrinkled fingers. His hand, however, never met the back of the Limitless wielder.
Well... because Limitless was active and infinity wrapped around him.
Hakari turned back, a grin spreading across his face, before he burst out laughing at Masayori, who staggered back a step.
"Has the dementia erased the reason why you fucks haven't done anything to try and discipline me?" he asked, stepping forward.
He raised his arm—then stopped.
Not yet…
"ENOUGH!"
Hiashi's voice shattered his thoughts and Hakari turned around.
"Not like you're going to survive for long" Hakari muttered just loud enough for them to hear the comment. Before taking his leave, without waiting for permission from the clan head.
Hiashi's expression remained stoic, but beneath the mask, his rage boiled. The elders, however, didn't bother hiding theirs as they seethed in frustration.
How could this happen?
How had their greatest weapon developed such a disobedient personality?
Their silent anger broke when Masayori spoke.
"Lord Hiashi, this has gone on for far too long. We should apply the Caged Bird Seal on that impudent brat!"
"And how do you suggest we do that?" Hiashi replied, already realizing it would be nearly impossible.
Why hadn't they applied the Caged Bird Seal to Hakari when he was young?
Simply put, they hadn't expected him to grow into what he was now. They had planned to make him clan head.
Hiashi ground his teeth in frustration.
There was no simple way to place the seal on Hakari. Even if he were asleep, it would take too long and it was almost certain the Six Eyes wouldn't overlook a sudden concentration of chakra on his forehead.
Hakari jumped onto his bed and went to sleep.
He couldn't be bothered to give a shit about whatever the elders might try to do.
Not like they would try.
…..Right?
The next day went as routine, except he didn't have to go to the academy. Instead, he and Kakashi had to head to the Hokage's Tower.
And that was exactly what the two snowheads were doing and both wondering why the Hokage himself wanted to hand them their headbands, or so their teacher had said.
They exchanged a few words along the way, mostly about whether or not they'd be placed on the same team. Both of them wanted that.
They walked through the open doors and stopped at the receptionist's desk. The woman there already recognized them and told them to wait for a bit, as the Hokage was currently in an important meeting.
The two shrugged and did as told, slumping onto the chairs in the waiting area.
Five minutes later, Hakari sensed it.
His gaze darted toward the three people walking down the stairs, presumably from the Hokage's office. Kakashi seemed to notice as well, paying attention to the three shinobi as they passed by.
They were dark-skinned. One with white hair and the other two with black hair. The white-haired one had an incredibly buff physique, and from the headbands adorning their foreheads, they were from the Village Hidden in the Clouds.
The receptionist gestured for the two boys to head up, and they did so. As they climbed the stairs, just before they were no longer visible from the receptionist's area, Hakari felt it.
The white-haired one's eyes were on him.
Weird…. whatever, They must be here for diplomatic reasons, Hakari thought, but quickly pushed it aside.
He had a headband to receive.
