Before the Sunreach Accords, the Capital's underworld was governed exclusively by the blade. Silas, the master of assassins, had ruled the shadows with terrifying, lethal precision. If a contract was signed in the dark, blood was inevitably spilled on the cobblestones.
But the Golden Age had reformatted the physical world. The void was no longer permitted to be a weapon of murder; it had been repurposed by the Warlord's Council as a tool of peace, stealth, and non-lethal extraction.
Not everyone accepted the transition.
The Phantom Syndicate was a rogue faction of pre-war shadow-walkers. They were veterans of the old underworld, men who clung desperately to the violent traditions of the past. They viewed Silas's retirement as a betrayal, and they viewed his twelve-year-old daughter—the new Void Lord who refused to kill—as a soft, insulting joke.
They intended to prove that the dark still belonged to the predators.
