[ELARA'S POV]
Marcus showed up at six am with coffee and grim news.
The text had been sent from a burner phone. Untraceable. Bought with cash two days ago at a convenience store in Queens. No security footage that helped. No prints. Nothing.
He'd already put additional security on the house. Two more guys on rotation. Cameras upgraded. New protocols.
Damian listened to all of it with that cold calm he got when he was furious. The kind where everything got very quiet and very controlled and you knew someone was about to have a very bad day.
"Find them." That's all he said to Marcus.
Marcus nodded and left.
I was sitting at the kitchen table with cold coffee watching the sun come up through the windows and trying not to spiral. We'd been so close. So close to being done with all of this.
Damian came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my shoulders, pulling me back against his chest.
