[ELARA'S POV]
Thirty-two weeks and I was supposed to be resting.
But Sarah called with an emergency. A client freaking out about their event next week. Major meltdown. Threatening to pull their contract.
"Can you come in?" Sarah sounded stressed. "Just for an hour. They trust you. They'll listen to you."
So I went. Waddled into the office at seven months pregnant wearing maternity pants that were already too tight and a shirt that showed my belly button because nothing fit anymore.
The client was there. Pacing. Some tech bro in his twenties who thought his product launch was the most important thing in human history.
"Elara." He stopped pacing. "Thank god. Your team is fucking this up."
I looked at Sarah. She mouthed he's insane and I almost laughed.
"Walk me through what's wrong." I sat down. Standing was getting hard. "Let's figure this out."
An hour later I'd talked him off the ledge. Promised some tweaks to the design. Assured him everything would be perfect.
