Tatum, Jed, Ashley, Neit, Moro, Jai, and Maya were frozen in place. The seven of them remained completely silent after witnessing the giant monster explode into a red mist.
They had watched the entire fight from the edge of the clearing, and it had been a spectacle they wouldn't forget anytime soon. To them, the battle had finished much faster than they had originally expected, especially after seeing how quickly the giant was able to regenerate from Verc's initial attacks. They had assumed it would be a long, grueling fight of attrition.
But instead, Verc had simply deleted the top half of the creature.
And now— the blood of that monster was still raining down on the clearing.
The dark liquid pitter-pattered against the stone floor and the leaves of the skyscraper-sized trees, creating a wet, rhythmic sound that filled the sudden silence. The heavy, copper-like scent of blood hung thick in the air, mixing with the damp smell of the forest.
