"And what are you going to do after I tell you?" She questioned. "You know what, for the past two weeks since we started this pretend marriage, I've been getting accused of pinning Gabriele on you." Then she sighed. "This isn't working out, Dominic. Let's get a divorce."
Dominic stayed silent for a second too long, making Delfina think he didn't hear her. But she continued nonetheless.
"I was insulted by your mother today. She tried to turn Gabriele against me by telling him so many lies about me. She called me names and I've had enough of it."
Dominic stared at her, his eyes softening as he took a step closer to her.
He was well aware that his stepmother was a handful. He'd grown up with her after all and she'd shown him hell. But a divorce wasn't something he wanted at the moment.
"Let's talk about this," he said, his tone tender and warm, hesitantly placing his hand on her shoulders.
