"I need you to convince Dominic to invest in my company."
Delfina stared hard at her father, her mouth slightly open, her gaze fixed on him with a cocked eyebrow. Out of all things she'd expected him to say, this was the last thing she'd predicted to hear fall from his lips.
The facade he wore earlier had dropped to the floor like a garment, baring his ugly face that didn't stop to think for once before requesting such a demand from her like he had the right to.
"What?" She asked, hoping he was joking, even though he looked dead serious.
"Are you deaf?" His eyes darkened, then he glanced back to where Dominic was standing, watching them intently. Quickly, he brought back the smile on his face as if everything was alright. "Dominic is here. He's a Silvestri, married into the Delamonte family. It's only right that he invests in the family's business." He still kept the smile on his face.
Delfina's lips tightened as she tried not to burst out laughing.
