Chapter 144 - "Other Business"

Logan then began to dig in deeper into the match to check everything.

He checked the game's log, analyzing everything that had been recorded as the match went on, but nothing seemed out of place.

Logan let out a sigh of relief.

So far, the game had been successful not only because it had been able to accurately replicate Abilities, but also because it had yet to be hacked.

Eventually, Logan came to the conclusion that this had to be something due to the person's Ability.

Although Original Abilities couldn't be used in the game, it was the only thing that made sense.

All that being said, it made one thought come to Logan's mind.

"Just who is this 'Blood Evolver'?" Logan asked, his eyes narrowed.

As Quinn and Tsukuru walked out of the VR Room, Quinn discretely used his Inspect Skill on Tsukuru's cloak.

[Name: Glathrium-Fiber Hooded Robes

A set of clothes created using 60% ballistic nylon fiber and 40% Glathrium-fiber.

Grants full immunity to slashing and piercing attacks.

Grants a 20% resistance to blunt attacks. ]

Seeing the information, Quinn's eyes widened for a moment.

If by some miracle that their class wasn't going to planet Caladi for the Portal Outing, maybe Quinn could have Tsukuru make him a similar suit as a…substitute.

It was then that Tsukuru turned and looked up at Quinn.

Quinn's heart jumped, startled.

'Did he notice that I was 'Inspecting' his outfit?!' Quinn thought in a panic.

He was unsure if Tsukuru would see this as 'being rude'.

"Quinn." Tsukuru replied, bringing Quinn back to his senses. "You mind if we...split up for a bit? I have something that I need to…take care of."

Quinn stared at Tsukuru for a moment.

"Uh, sure?" He replied.

Tsukuru nodded, and he turned away from Quinn.

Immediately, he began walking towards the main building of the school.

Quinn lingered for a moment longer.

'Wonder what that's about?' He thought.

When Tsukuru reached the front entrance, he saw a group of two high-Levels, Level 4's judging from their watches, extorting credits from a group of Level 1's.

As Tsukuru looked at the main aggressor, his System's "Vector" appeared over his face.

A line extended out to the left, leading to a square in his vision that showed an up-close image of the boy.

Below, it listed his information.

[Andreas O'Neil

Race: Human

Ability: Wind Element

Ability Level: 4]

Tsukuru grit his teeth in annoyance, the sight being back memories of Riley.

Instantly, Tsukuru activated his Ability.

The sound of electronic interference could be heard, and pixels began to appear in his open hand.

Despite the noise, the group of students seemed too distracted by their current situation to notice.

The pixels clustered together into the shape of one of Tsukuru's Basic-Tier Black Obsidian Daggers.

There was a bright flash.

When it faded, Tsukuru was holding the dagger.

Back with Andreas, he was currently grabbing the arm of one of the Level 1s, pulling it close to his so their watches were in close proximity so the credits could be transferred.

Instantly, Tsukuru threw the dagger, which flew through the air at high speeds.

Meanwhile, with the group of students, Andreas looked down at the Level 1, a predatory look on his face.

Suddenly, the dagger came flying through the air, and pierced him in his exposed lower forearm.

Andreas's eyes widened in surprise, and he felt a sharp pain fill him.

"Agh!" He screamed.

Immediately, he released his grip on the Level 1, who stumbled backwards.

He grit his teeth, and snapped his head towards the direction the dagger had come from, a look of pure fury on his face.

However, when he saw Hikiko Tsukuru standing there, his eyes widened.

Tsukuru narrowed his eyes.

Tsukuru and Andreas exchanged heated glances for another minute.

While Andreas in particular wasn't familiar with Tsukuru, he knew of him.

Tsukuru had a growing reputation.

Word around the school was that he had taken out seven different second-year students during that 'incident' last Friday.

There was also the rumor that he was the only student who could last more than ten seconds against the "Ice Queen", Erin Heyley in a close-quarters fight.

Plus, there was also the fact that Tsukuru could easily just pull out that Humanoid Beast of his.

The one who had held its own against said "Ice Queen".

Andreas glanced over at Tsukuru's watch.

Seeing the number "3" being displayed, his eyes narrowed.

Though Andreas was a whole Ability Level higher than Tsukuru, he wasn't worried about losing to him.

He was worried about beating him, which could be even worse.

The violent and atrocious things Hikiko Shizuka had done to criminals and Pure agents was well documented.

And Adreas was not planning to become the newest member of that list by being the one to injure her brother.

Eventually, Adreas grit his teeth.

He stretched his damaged arm across his chest, and extended the open palm of his other hand underneath where the dagger was sticking out.

Instantly, the sound of howling wind could be heard.

A small cyclone of wind, like a mini-tornado, generated out of his palm.

The strong wind of the mini-tornado forced the dagger's blade out of his arm, propelling it out the same way it had entered.

The dagger clattered to the ground.

He signaled to his group, and they began to leave.

As they did, Andreas glared at Tsukuru over his shoulders.

"Watch yourself, Level 3." He snarled, emphasizing Tsukuru's Ability Level. "Heros don't last long in this world!"

Tsukuru narrowed in eyes, his face morphing into a dark expression.

"Says the run scurrying away like a sniveling RAT!" He snarled. "At least I don't have to attack those weaker than myself to make myself feel better!"

Andreas clenched his fist in anger at Tsukuru's words.

Tsukuru watched Andreas and his friends walk away.

Tsukuru then walked forwards towards the school entrance.

As he walked past, the Level 1 watched, trembling.

Inside the school building, Tsukuru walked up the stairs to the second floor towards Head General Paul's office.

Inside, Paul was sitting at his seat.

On his desk, he had Tsukuru's latest Glathrium chunk placed in a box, the lid currently open.

To his side, sat his secretary, Martha.

Standing in front of his desk, was the usual group of six.

General Nathan, General Duke, Sergeant Dillan, Sergeant Leo, Sergeant Faye, and Sergeant Shizuka.

"I will be leaving the base in the next three days to bring Hikiko Tsukuru's latest Glathrium deposit to the Supreme Commander." Head General Paul said, closing the lid of the box. "I will ALSO be gone for roughly the SAME AMOUNT OF TIME."

He glanced up at the group, making sure to narrow his eyes at the two Generals.

"I hope you two can manage to notdestroy this place in my absence." He replied.

Duke narrowed his eyes, slightly offended, but inwardly, he was ecstatic.

If the Head General wasn't going to be here in the next three days, that meant that his little plan would go off without a hitch.

It was then that they heard knocking on the door.

Instantly, they all snapped their heads towards the door.

Leo narrowed his eyes.

Using his Ability, he could see the individual on the other side of the door.

And he would recognize that figure anywhere.

There was no one else who looked like that.

"Sir." Leo said, turning to Paul.

Head General Paul turned to face him.

"Speaking of Hikiko Tsukuru, he's at the door."
