Chapter 327 - Fighting the Video Legion

Oscar looked up at the man with a look of confusion.

Slowly, his attention drifted down to the box.

Just like the Sergeant had done, Oscar undid the latches, and opened the box.

When he saw the contents, his eyes widened, and his jaw dropped.

Inside the box, placed carefully in a specially-shaped, gray foam padding, was the Scordana Gunblade in its gun mode.

Oscar looked down at the Beast Weapon inside the metal box in shock.

To him, it was like looking at something from deep in his past.

And in a way, it was.

It was also something that he had never expected to see again.

For a moment, his mind flashed back.

Back to a younger version of himself, and to a time not too long after the discovery of Beast Weapons.

Oscar took the Scordana Gunblade out of the foam molding, and held it in his hand.

He inspected it like an archeologist inspecting a relic from a lost civilization.

Seeing Oscar's actions, Paul's face hardened.

"I figured that you should be the first person outside of the higher-ups of Military Base 2 to learn of this weapon's existence," he replied. "After all, you are the only person who has ever used a Beast Gun."

However, Oscar appeared to have not even heard him, his full attention focused on the Beast Weapon.

Looking down near the cylinder, he saw a small, circular protrusion.

As Oscar pushed it in, a clicking noise was heard.

The gun's cylinder swung out, and the back of the six cartridges of the six Intermediate-Tier Paleneedle Bullets could be seen.

Oscar looked at the cartridges in utter disbelief.

"Six Beast Bullets," he muttered.

Back when he had used the world's, as of that point, only Beast Gun, it had only had a single bullet.

Looking at the back of the bullet cartridges, something stood out to Oscar.

While the bullets all possessed a primer, none of them possessed any headstamps, the engravings that marked the manufacturer and caliber of the ammunition.

Oscar pushed the cartridge back into place, and another audible "click" was heard.

He turned the gun around a few times, looking at it from different angles.

And it was when he had held the back of the gun up to the light that he noticed a few pieces protruding out of it.

There was an oval-shaped piece of metal near the top of gip, with a groove underneath it.

Oscar slid the metal piece back and forth a few times, but nothing seemed to happen.

He then turned his attention to the protruding circle on the butt of the gun, just below the hammer.

Another "click" was heard.

As if spring-loaded, the upside-down blade laying flat along the top of the gun snapped forward, and the base of the gun tilted downwards at an angle.

The eyes of the Sergeants lining the walls widened in shock at what the had just witnessed.

Where only a moment ago the Supreme Commander had been holding a revolver, he was now holding a rather large dagger.

Oscar just stared down at the weapon.

He stood up out of his chair and gave the weapon a few test swings.

A "swishing" noise could be heard as the blade moved through the air.

Oscar's eyes narrowed.

'The weight's a little off,' he thought. 'But other than that, it's a perfectly functional Beast Dagger.'

A knowing smile appeared on Paul's face as he saw the look Oscar had.

"You noticed it right away, didn't you?" he asked.

Oscar turned back to the Head-General.

"This weapon," he replied. "It feels heavier than it should. Even given the inner workings of the weapon's other configuration, that still doesn't account for the weight discrepancy."

Paul's smile widened.

"I thought the same thing when I first held it," he replied. "That is, until I was informed of the weapon's irregular forging material."

Oscar developed a puzzled look.

"'Irregular forging material'?" he asked

Paul nodded.

"That weapon…was forged using a special Glathrium alloy," he replied.

Back in the Assembly Hall in Military Base 2, Sergeant Faye watched as each of the fighters among the group of students were fighting against select members of Tsukuru's Video Legion.

Directly in front of her, she watched as Vorden had his arms locked with Rakshara's, as the two were in a competition of strength, each trying to overpower the other.

But, unknown to Faye, as well as most of those in the room, this wasn't Vorden.

It was Raten.

Vorden had tried fighting against Rakshara, but he was quickly forced to switch places with Raten.

Fighting the Amazon was like fighting himself.

And, if he was being perfectly honest with himself, he had never fought someone with this level of physical strength that wasn't either a High-Level Ability User, or a member of his own Original Family.

Both Rakshara and Raten had wicked smiles on their faces, as they tried to overpower each other.

It seemed that, completely by accident, Tsukuru had created something that was equally as battle-crazed as Raten was.

Both Rakshara and Raten dug their heels into the ground, and swung their heads back.

The next second, they smashed their heads into each other in a double headbutt.

Further away from the two battle junkies, Layla and Sylvia were engaged in an archer vs archer duel.

There were scores of arrows littering the Assembly Hall all around them, indicating just how long they had been fighting for.

However, Layla's limitations due to her frail Human body had made themselves clearly apparent, as Layla was breathing heavily, and she was covered in scrapes and cuts.

On top of that, Sylvia seemed to have an unfair advantage.

While Layla had to stop firing every once and a while so she could retrieve her arrows using her Telekinesis Ability, Sylvia seemed to never run out of arrows.

It was as if her quiver was constantly refilling itself, as every single time Layla looked at it, it always looked full.

As if she had never even fired an arrow.

'This is so unfair!' Layla thought. 'Not only does she have unlimited arrows, but she also has a better physical conditioning than me!'

The girl seemed to be just as agile as Quinn and Tsukuru!

In yet another area of Assembly Hall, Erin was locked in combat with Starrk.

Erin leaped back in the air, her heel touching onto the ground.

As she stood perfectly still, ice began to form in the air all around her.

Soon, a series of five, thick icicles could be seen in the air.

The five icicles launched themselves at Starrk.

Still holding his Beast Sword in his hand, Stark punched the air five times in quick succession.

Each time, a flat circle of light-blue energy had appeared in front of him, looking somewhat like a small shield.

As his hand thrust forward, the shield of energy shot forward like a bullet.

When each of the energy projectiles connected with the icicles, the projectiles shattered like glass.

While they had not been strong enough to break the icicles, they had carried enough force to knock them off-course, making them spin off in random directions.

Starrk blurred out of existence.

A moment later, sensing a presence behind her, Erin twisted her whole body behind her, swinging her sword in a wide arc.

The sword swing parried Starrk's own Beast Sword, knocking it off-course.

Erin swung her sword again, but Starrk blocked it with his bare hand.

The sound of clanging metal could be heard.

Starrk closed his hand around Erin's sword, trapping it, and swung out his own sword in a horizontal swing.

Erin gritted her teeth, as she felt the stinging pain of Starrk's sword cutting into her stomach.

The last person in the room who was actually fighting was Quinn, and he was having a rather…difficult time.

His opponent had been Gobkiko.

As Gobkiko lunged at Quinn, she crossed her two arms in an "X" formation.

Once she was close enough, she swung both her arms out, using the "scorpion claw-like" blade extensions on the exoskeleton covering her arms to replicate one of Tsukuru's cross-slashes.

Quinn crossed his two gauntlets in front of his face, blocking the two blades.

Quinn wrenched back his arm and threw out a punch, but Gobikiko brought up her arm, blocking it with her forearm.

And while the force of the attack did cause her to skid backwards, it seemed to do little to no damage.

Quinn gritted his teeth in frustration.

'She has the same black exoskeleton that the Scordana had on the Red Portal Planet!' he thought.

As Gobkiko slid backwards, Quinn saw her scorpion tail lash forward from under her left arm like a thrown chain.

Quinn jumped back just in time, as not even a second later, the "stinger" of her scorpion tail pierced the ground where Quinn had been standing.

Quinn landed on his feet a short distance away.

'This is bad,' Quinn thought. 'I was only able to break through the Scordana's exoskeleton using my Blood Swipe and Hammer Strike Skills!'

He shot a gaze back at Sergeant Faye, and saw that she was staring right at him.

'And right now, I can't use any of my Vampire Skills!'
