Chapter 46 - Chapter 46: The First Lie of Stability

The world didn't feel normal.

It felt… rearranged.

Return to Reality

Tae-Hyun and Seo-Ah were pulled back from the Core Layer.

They reappeared in the Neutral Zone.

The sky was calm again.

But it wasn't the same sky.

Seung-Ho's voice came through the communicator immediately."Bro! You're back! Everything stabilized… I think!"

Hwan-Guk added, uncertain."It's weird… monsters are still there, but they're not acting like before."

The New System Interface

A familiar screen appeared in front of everyone.

But it was different.

Cleaner.

Simpler.

[System Status: Sovereign-Aligned]No Forced CommandsNo Mandatory QuestsNo Artificial Restrictions

Seo-Ah stared at it."It looks… peaceful."

Tae-Hyun didn't respond immediately.

Because he could feel it.

Something was missing.

The Hidden Problem

Seung-Ho's voice turned serious."Bro… I'm detecting something strange in the data flow."

A pause.

"It's like… parts of the System are gone. Not deleted—hidden."

Hwan-Guk frowned."What does that mean?"

Seung-Ho swallowed."I think something is sealed below what we changed."

The Entity's Echo

A faint distortion passed through the air.

Just for a second.

Seo-Ah noticed it too.

"…Did you feel that?"

Tae-Hyun nodded slightly.

"Yes."

A Peace That Feels Wrong

Cities were functioning again.

Players were active again.

Dungeons stabilized.

Everything looked fixed.

But Tae-Hyun didn't relax.

Because control wasn't gone.

It was just… quieter.

Seo-Ah Questions It

She looked at him."Did we actually fix it?"

Tae-Hyun was silent for a moment.

Then—

"No."

The Realization

He raised his hand slightly.

The System interface flickered.

Not broken.

But reactive.

Like it was watching him closely again.

Something Watching Back

Seung-Ho's voice came through again, but lower now.

"Bro… I don't think we removed the System."

Another pause.

"I think we just changed what it's pretending to be."

The First Truth

Tae-Hyun looked at the sky.

Calm.

But unreadable.

"The Core was never the root," he said quietly.

Seo-Ah froze.

"You mean… there's more?"

He nodded once.

"Yes."

A Deeper Layer

A faint pulse echoed through reality.

Far deeper than the Core.

Something buried.

Something hidden before the System even existed.

The air felt heavier again.

But differently.

Not oppressive.

Just… ancient.

Final Warning Appears

A message flickered—glitching in and out:

[Sub-System Detected][Layer: Unknown][Status: Sealed]

Then it vanished.

Tae-Hyun's Decision

Seo-Ah looked at him carefully.

"So what now?"

Tae-Hyun didn't hesitate.

"We go deeper."

A pause.

"Below the System."

Something Awakens Again

Far beneath reality—

Something responded.

Not the System.

Not the Core.

Something older.

And it had felt him.
