Elara's eyes narrowed as she looked at Lyra. Her gaze moved straight to Lyra's stomach. The wind around them seemed to pick up, blowing faster and colder than before.
Lyra shivered under that intense stare. Her arms moved on their own, hugging her body in a weak attempt to hide her stomach from view.
Was that...a child? Was it hers?
Even with her stomach swollen and round, Lyra looked beautiful. Elara felt a surge of twisted joy. She grinned, her eyes sparkling with excitement. Then, she let out a loud, sudden laugh as she saw Lyra squirm and tremble in front of her.
It was clear that Lyra hated her now such that she didn't have to feel bad for what she was going to do to her. But why was she so afraid to show the child? Did she think she could keep it a secret? Or was it really someone else's? Either way, it didn't matter. There was nowhere left for Lyra to run. Elara finally had her back, and whoever would ever come to look for her didn't mean to stay alive.
