Elara watched Lyra intensely. Instead of looking away in shame, Lyra met her eyes with a fiery look of her own. Elara felt her lips curl into an impressed smirk.
This was getting more amusing by the second. Lyra hadn't just changed her feelings toward her; she had actually grown a backbone. Elara found herself excited to see how much more the girl had changed in their time apart. Even this defiance was better than the empty silence of the last six months.
"Okay," Elara hummed. To Lyra's confusion, she finally pulled away, giving the girl a small amount of space.
Lyra watched with wide, wary eyes as Elara turned around. She reached for the lamp on the bedside table next to the sofa and clicked it on. A soft orange glow filled the small area, but since the curtains were still tightly drawn, the rest of the room remained in deep, cozy shadows. The light made the sharp lines of Elara's face look even more majestic.
