Elara came back into the room, and she brought a phone with her.
Lyra knew what a phone was, but she did not understand why Elara had brought it. She did not ask. She just sat on the edge of the bed and stared at the device on the table.
"There are games on here for you to play. You should play them when you are bored," Elara said. Her voice was calm and flat. She spoke to Lyra as if Lyra were a small child who needed to be kept busy. Elara picked up the phone and tapped the screen. She opened a random game.
"Here is a puzzle game," Elara said. She tilted the phone so Lyra could see the bright screen. "I am sure it is something you will like. It is simple."
Lyra did not move. She sat in silence as Elara closed that game and opened another one.
"There is also a game where you connect colored blocks," Elara added.
