"I agree, Miss Elara," Jamie piped up softly, her voice steady. "You are in the middle of an election campaign. If the child Miss Lyra is carrying is yours, you have to save it, too." Her eyes were deadly serious as she looked at the Chairperson. "If she were to lose the child and die, and it is proven that the child was a Holloway, it would completely ruin your family's political future."
Jamie spoke strictly from a political standpoint. She knew it was the only tactical leverage she had to command authority before a member of such a prestigious family. Her sharp analytical mind was the only thing holding Elara's volatile temper back right now.
"Be reasonable," Jamie urged with a silent threat, appealing directly to the rational, calculating woman she knew Elara could be.
