Chapter 85 - The Final Chapter

To all my readers, I'm going to be completely upfront with you: this fanfiction is coming to an end.

This wasn't a spontaneous decision. It's something I've been weighing and reflecting on for roughly the past 20 chapters. My original plan was to finish the rest of the current arc so I could give you all the proper, fully realized ending I had envisioned.

However, while working on the drafting phase for the next section—a phase that has always been one of the most enjoyable parts of writing for me—I found myself completely stuck.

Not because I stopped caring about this story or its characters. Quite the opposite. I care enough about them that I don't want to force myself through another 5–10 chapters simply because I feel obligated to reach a finish line.

So instead, I want to give you the complete emotional and narrative closure for how this story and arc were meant to end, right here and now.

How the Story Was Meant to End

Following the events of Chapter 82, Albion and Amon's battle within the Inner World continues to escalate. Just as the confrontation reaches its absolute breaking point, right before Albion delivers what would have been a fatal strike, the battle is suddenly interrupted.

The person who stops them is Sheila, having successfully traveled into and manifested within the Inner World.

After a tense confrontation, Sheila steps between the two boys and pulls them both into a tight, warm embrace.

In that moment, a profound warmth spreads through Albion's heart—and, for the first time, through Amon's as well.

Albion finally understands what that sensation is.

Love.

A mother's unconditional love.

For a boy who grew up isolated and experimented on, who never truly experienced a parent's warmth, that realization changes everything.

At first, Amon desperately clings to his philosophy of isolation and hatred. But as Sheila's warmth reaches him, he realizes that his anger isn't being erased. It isn't being rejected or condemned.

It is simply being accepted.

Both boys eventually break down in Sheila's arms. The battle ends not through destruction, but through mutual acceptance.

Albion accepts his flaws, his trauma, his past, and the negative emotions he spent so long trying to separate from himself. He no longer sees Amon as a foreign being that must be destroyed.

Amon, in turn, accepts Albion's bonds with other people and begins letting go of his need to exist as a solitary monster.

This officially brings Albion's "inner demon" journey to its conclusion.

He doesn't defeat Amon. He accepts him.

And through that acceptance, Albion finally becomes whole.

When they return to the physical world, Albion peacefully falls asleep in Sheila's arms. Nearby, Gajeel and Juvia eventually fall asleep as well, followed by Sheila herself.

The arc ends quietly, with the four of them together, safe for the first time in a long while.

There was also one final major reveal planned for the end of this arc. Albion would have been revealed to be the rightful prince and heir of the Ebonveil Clan.

Because Metsuri was the daughter of the village chief, Albion's status as her adopted son would have connected him to the clan's bloodline and succession.

This would have also tied back into the recurring "king" imagery surrounding Albion throughout the story.

The chapter was ultimately meant to conclude with the long-awaited reveal of the Ebonveil Village Chief.

That storyline will unfortunately remain unexplored in the actual story, but I wanted to at least share where I intended to take it.

What This Story Meant to Me

I know an outline summary might feel unsatisfying on some level. I completely understand that. But for me as an author, this story has officially served its purpose.

This fanfiction was never meant to be a permanent substitute for the original stories I wanted to create someday.

It was my blueprint. My training ground.

It taught me how to manage a long-form narrative over 80+ chapters, build complex characters, design power systems, handle pacing, maintain continuity, write dialogue, and improve my prose.

When I started Chapter 1 less than a year and a half ago, I had virtually no writing experience.

Today, I'm a completely different writer from the person who wrote those first few chapters.

And looking back now, I can actually recognize the mistakes I made.

Making the core cast five to nine years old was originally intended to emphasize the dark and tragic nature of the world and demonstrate their resilience.

However, when I began writing high-level hand-to-hand combat choreography—especially something like Albion vs. Amon—I realized how difficult it was to make extremely young characters perform complex movements while maintaining immersion.

The contrast became even more obvious when I wrote adult-versus-child fights such as Gajeel vs. Damian. Those scenes taught me just how different physical scale, reach, strength, and movement feel when the characters' ages actually make sense for the choreography.

There was also the issue of chronology.

More than 80 chapters of content took place within essentially a single day of Albion being in Phantom Lord. While I originally thought this would emphasize his incredible rate of growth, keeping track of the exact timeline within the Fairy Tail universe eventually wrote me into a narrative corner.

Abilities like Albion's Codex Magic were designed with a much older version of him in mind, meaning many of its abilities weren't particularly practical for his current state. Some of the explanations also became more extensive than they needed to be, slowing down scenes that should have moved much faster.

Looking back, I can see these problems clearly now. And I don't consider recognizing them a failure. I consider it proof that I've grown.

Experience is everything in writing. I couldn't have learned these lessons without writing those 80+ chapters.

Every mistake taught me something. Every chapter taught me something.

And every character I've written has helped me become the writer I am today.

What's Next?

I am currently putting everything I've learned into drafting my original novel.

I'm planning to finish the entire first arc before releasing it publicly, because I want to make sure I can give the story the foundation it deserves.

I don't know exactly where that journey will take me yet.

But I know that I'm entering it with far more experience than I had when I started this fanfiction.

I'm not sharing this to sell you on my next project or pressure you into reading it.

I simply wanted to be transparent about where my journey as a creator is taking me.

To everyone who read this story, commented on chapters, gave me feedback, discussed theories, noticed details, supported the characters, or simply kept coming back for the next chapter:

Thank you.

You helped me become a real writer.

This story may not have reached the ending I originally imagined, but it gave me something that I will carry into every story I write from here on out.

And for that, I will always be grateful.

Author Ibry, signing off.

I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your day.

Thank you for everything.
