It was true that dressed like he was now, in a normal environment, he wouldn't stand out. But if he walked next to Iris, no matter what, people would see him as a slave because even a noble's servant dressed more properly than him.
He wasn't like Leo, hadn't gone through real war, so his personality was still quite playful. Leo didn't mind being seen as Iris's slave, but he definitely wouldn't accept that.
