Hearing T-Dog's curses.
Shawn unnaturally rubbed his chin.
"If we really have to count, it shouldn't be counted against me, right? It's all the system's fault..."
"What did you say?"
Daryl approached, holding his crossbow, his brow furrowed when he heard Shawn muttering softly to himself.
"N-Nothing..."
Shawn waved his hands repeatedly, indicating it wasn't his business.
"How many more of these things do you think there are?"
Rick glanced elsewhere, then turned back and asked Shawn.
Shawn had stayed inside the Prison for a full day and night. If anyone had the most authority to speak, it must be Shawn.
Seeing Rick's serious expression as he questioned him, Shawn considered it carefully.
"There shouldn't be many left. So far, I've only encountered a dozen or so in total."
Compared to the massive numbers of the Zombie Horde, a dozen special Walkers seemed quite rare.
Including the Walking Corpse Centipede right in front of them, they had only encountered 4 in total within the vast Prison.
Having dealt with most of them, Shawn guessed that the remaining special Walkers would number in the single digits at most.
"It's highly unlikely there will be more. Highly unlikely."
Shawn looked at Rick and nodded with a knowing expression.
Rick pursed his lips slightly and looked through a light opening on the high wall of Prison Block A.
"There should still be some time before sunset."
"But to be safe, we'll rest here for 5 minutes and then continue pushing forward."
"We must completely clear out the interior of the Prison today."
"With creatures like these next to the Administrative Block, I won't be able to sleep at night."
No one, including Shawn, raised any objections to Rick's suggestion.
They had come in this time to finish the job, and what Rick said was exactly what they were thinking.
Of course, it wasn't their fault for being too anxious; it was entirely because these special individuals were too monstrous.
Although they weren't much stronger than an equivalent number of Walkers, their strange and bizarre structures made everyone present feel a subtle unease.
Just looking at them made them want to put them through a meat grinder and shred them into mince.
A shredded Walker is a good Walker.
After 5 minutes passed, the group continued to advance.
Fortunately, this time they did not encounter a Zombie Horde, nor did they run into special individuals like the 'Ten-Man Walking Corpse Centipede'.
Only three or two Fat Ones and one Pouncer—that was all there was.
With shields and firepower at hand, dealing with these special individuals was actually not too difficult.
It seemed the last wave of the Zombie Horde the team encountered was indeed the final one.
The group continued backward from the A Block Corridor, rounded three more sections, and suddenly, the view opened up!
The rear metal door of A Block connected to the grassy field behind the entire Prison.
Looking into the distance, it was wide open, with a large stretch of jungle and tall trees still visible far away.
Looking around, the large Exercise Yard was on both sides, with only a dozen or so Walkers shuffling inside.
The moment they stepped out of the rear door of Prison Block A.
Shawn felt a warm breeze on his face, and the fresh air carried a hint of grass.
At the same time, a relaxed musical note sounded in Shawn's ear, and a large amount of information popped up before his eyes.
Suppressing the excitement in his heart, now was not the best time to tally the rewards.
Shawn looked at Rick, looked at Shane... looked at everyone who had given their all.
They were also looking at Shawn at this moment, their eyes gleaming, and the emotions in their depths seemed barely contained.
Amidst everyone's hopeful gaze, Shawn single-handedly raised the enormous Stone Great Hammer high above his head, his voice filled with an undeniable sense of satisfaction and joy!
"We've captured the Prison!!"
As soon as Shawn said this, there was a half-second of silence.
The next moment, everyone immediately tossed their equipment away and cheered wildly!
Glenn wrapped his arm around Maggie, and under their loving gaze, he kissed her passionately.
Merle fired his gun into the sky; his already slightly flushed skin now glowed even redder with excitement.
T-Dog called out to Jim, and the two began jumping, performing a strange dance with uneven rhythms and an unknown name.
Rick and Shane couldn't help but put their arms around each other's shoulders. They exchanged a look, and the gloom in their hearts vanished.
Daryl walked over to Shawn, holding his crossbow, stood shoulder-to-shoulder with him, and then sneered faintly at the excited reactions of the group.
But Shawn knew that Daryl was also very happy; this was just his way of expressing joy at this stage.
As Shawn watched everyone's individual reactions, he felt a sense of emotion.
"It hasn't been easy getting here~~"
Although Shawn had the System, the journey up until now had been full of hardships.
Not counting the time before they set off, just looking at the journey itself.
The first half was fine, but in the latter half, first Daryl and Merle ran into danger.
Then the RV broke down, and the Blood Moon arrived at the worst possible time.
Rick and his group ran into danger. After settling into the Prison field, before they could enjoy two days of happiness, Shawn ran into danger inside the Prison.
Finally, they managed to activate the generator and capture the Prison.
Thinking back now, it felt as if those events happened a long time ago.
But calculating the actual time, it had only been about a week.
Gently exhaling, Shawn couldn't help but smile.
They thought too much, but accomplished too little.
But thankfully, they captured the Prison safely, though not without frights.
Next, they needed to figure out how to develop the Prison.
A little later.
The group rested for a while on the field behind the Prison.
Fully enjoying the peace and tranquility brought by their own territory, everyone felt that the future was promising.
Counting from the moment they first spoke about the Prison back at the Farm, they were only now truly standing on the Prison's grass.
Just like Shawn had said.
"From now on, the Prison is our territory!"
Glenn couldn't help but stand up, cupped his hands around his mouth like a microphone, and shouted loudly toward the distance.
"From now on, the Prison is our territory!" Maggie shouted, not to be outdone.
It was as if they had climbed to the peak of a cold mountain, freely venting the gloom and unhappiness they had held in their hearts these past days.
It was as if capturing the Prison had fulfilled a life goal and life value.
It was as if by capturing the Prison, they had truly found a common backbone.
It was as if by capturing the Prison, the light of human hope had finally overshadowed the shadow of despair.
'The degradation of civilization is inevitable, but this Prison will be a symbol of its reconstruction.'
Rick stood up with everyone else.
Before locking the back gate, he took one last look at the warm and vibrant sunset, and softly spoke a sentence in his heart.
Bang--
The gate was tightly shut.
The group returned along the original route.
This time, they tried to Search every area they hadn't fully checked.
In an inconspicuous Storage Room, they found barrel-packed reserve diesel.
In some partitioned Cells, they found cigarettes secretly hidden by prisoners.
Other than that, only corpses remained inside the Prison.
